Cabinet grants pension, other rights to public sector workers on daily contracts

The Cabinet held its weekly regular meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi.

The Cabinet received a briefing from Prime Minister Abd Al-Mahdi on the recent visit to Iraq by His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and on his discussions with a number of visiting senior ministers from several friendly countries.

The Cabinet discussed progress in the implementation of the Iraqi government’s programme for 2018-2022, and directed all ministries to take the necessary measures to ensure that the undertakings made in the programme are fulfilled within the specified timetables.

The Cabinet voted to change the status of public sector employees on daily contracts, and to move them to other contracts to ensure that they have the same pension rights and other benefits currently enjoyed by staff on permanent contacts.

The Cabinet voted to allow the Independent Higher Electoral Commission to resume its duties and discharge its mandate.

The Cabinet also approved a new measure to unify all customs duties at all border crossings to facilitate the speedy flow of goods into Iraq.

The Cabinet held its weekly regular meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi.

Prime Minister Abd Al-Mahdi briefed the Cabinet on his visit to Basra province and reiterated the Iraqi government determination to take all necessary measures to deliver tangible improvements to key public services for the people of Basra and other parts of Iraq.

The Cabinet discussed progress in the implementation of the Iraqi government programme for 2018-2022. 

The Cabinet approved a compensation scheme for pensioners with disabilities.

The Cabinet approved the launch of the report on Iraq’s National Action Plan for the Implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
