SUMMER IS ENDING WITH A SLAM DUNK 1-2 FEET OF POWDER THAT SLAMMED THE CASCADES AND IS NOW HEADED TO THE NORTHERN ROCKIES WITH 1-2 FEET POSSIBLE IN SOME LOCATIONS

Significant snow fell over Mount Bachelor in the past few days where 20-25 inches has covered most runs from the bases to the summit. Powderchasers was fortunate enough to be up there where locals were out skinning the deepness that was well compacted and certainly on the dense side (no one was complaining).

3-6 inches has fallen over the Tetons last night with snow continuing through Friday. Significant accumulations are expected at the summits of Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee (8-12 inches) by Friday afternoon. Warm temperatures will keep snow above mid mountain late today before dropping to the bases again Friday. As of 8AM this morning it looked like most snow in the Jackson area is from mid mountain and higher. Grand Targhee has 3-5 inches at the base area and still snowing. We suspect 5-8 inches has fallen at the upper elevations of the ski resorts.

Warming temperatures today will be followed by colder temps Friday morning where an enhanced band of snowfall will drop another 4-8 inches in most of the southern Teton range.

Significant snow will be falling in Yellowstone National Park extending north into southern Montana in the Absaroka and Beartooth mountain ranges just over the Wyoming borders (Red Mountain Lodge). It’s possible that these areas can nab 12-20 additional inches by Friday night just in time for the 1st day of Fall!

Utah is nabbing leftovers with much colder air due tonight and 4-8 inches likely in most mountain ranges of the Wasatch. It’s possible we see higher amounts near Logan (Beaver Mountain) as well as the highest summits of the Cottonwoods. Significant snow is possible in the Uinta range just east of Park City (6-12) especially late Thursday though Friday. Light snow will continue in the mountains of Utah through the weekend.

Extended: Scattered snow showers are likely to return to the Wasatch of Utah extending into southern Wyoming late this weekend. Some snow is also likely for areas of Colorado especially the San Juans this weekend. High Pressure looks to take hold for a good portion of next week.
