Is anyone over there paying attention to what we did to Iraq ( or is this just to reassure the Iraqis ) in the 1st Gulf War ??? The Air War over Iraq caused such widespread devastation: we bombed them back into the 12th Century.

The Ground War lasted approximately 💯 Hours.

Point being ground war aside, we don’t need to to stage ground forces in Iraq to Invade Iran. Besides, I think the US Marines are itching for an Amphibious Assault.

Another issue: that’s quite a bit of coastline to defend and if a ground assault were to take place, I have to ask whether or not we’ve maintained enough material to push into Iran from Afghanistan ? Armored Pincer movements work wonders. Air & Land Battle Doctrine is most comprehensive and deadly.

US President Donald Trump said Iran's economy was continuing to collapse and that the Iranians would ask to negotiate with Washington.
There is a war of words between US and Iranian officials against the backdrop of the recent escalation between the two countries in the Gulf region.
"Some media outlets are spreading false news about what is happening between us and Iran," Trump wrote on Twitter. "Without any knowledge, they say the United States is trying to negotiate with Iran."
"These are false reports, and Iran will communicate with us when they are ready to negotiate," he said. "Their economy continues to collapse, and this is very sad news for the Iranians."
Trump, Iran, on Sunday threatened that the war meant its end, as tension between the two countries in the Gulf region escalated.
"If Iran wants war, that war will be the official end," Trump wrote on Twitter on Sunday (May 19th). "Do not threaten the United States again."
The US aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln" arrived in the Arabian Sea on its way to the Gulf, against the background of the recent escalation between America and Iran, which threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite the enormous power of the US aircraft carrier, its presence in the waters of the Gulf makes it less maneuverable and threatens to be targeted by Iranian naval forces or a barrage of coastal missiles.
The US Central Command said in a statement to Facebook on Thursday (May 9th) that the purpose of sending the US aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln" and the accompanying attack force, in addition to the presence of US bombers "B52" at the base of many in Qatar, America and the interests of America's allies in the region.
Iran is preparing to protect its coastlines and impose its presence in the waters of the Gulf with a naval force that includes speedboats and light submarines that can operate in shallow waters and carry out rapid attacks compared to the limited capacity of US aircraft carriers in those waters.

Iraq not able to mediate between US, Iran: MP Habib

Secretary Pompeo Meets Iraqi Foreign Minister Hakim - US Department of State

Iraqi MP Aras Habib expected the US-Iranian crisis to continue to escalate for a while without a direct confrontation due to the danger it poses on their interests in the region and the world, adding that it would be difficult for Iraq to play the role of mediator between the two countries.

"The positions and statements exchanged between the two parties are what each of them tries to [use] to exploit the regional and international situation to his advantage by mobilizing support…" Habib said in press remarks.

He also questioned the ability of Iraq to play the role of the mediator between the parties, noting that Iraq will be the first to be harmed if any future conflict takes place in the region.

Tensions have escalated recently between the US and Iran with increasing concerns about a potential US-Iran war. Earlier this week the US pulled some diplomatic staff from its embassy in Baghdad following weekend attacks on four oil tankers in the Gulf, Reuters reported.

Newspaper: Iran moves its allies to destabilize the US presence in Iraq

Political | 6:12 - 20/05/2019

BAGHDAD (
Reuters) - Iran has moved its allies in Baghdad to press for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, the Independent newspaper reported on Monday, citing the alliance of Fatah and Iran close to persuading other Iraqi forces to support a draft law governing foreign military presence. in Iraq.
The newspaper said the British, quoting a source in the presidency, that "the alliance of the conquest, which includes most of the Iraqi parliamentary forces close to Iran, returned to move the issue of the removal of US troops from the country."
Iraqi legislators, familiar with the draft, have disclosed that the content of the draft, which "includes legal arrangements, will lead to the removal of US troops from Iraq."
"The draft law restricts the government's intentions to conclude agreements allowing foreign troops to remain in Iraq," the lawmakers told Independent. "Some draft provisions require the Iraqi government to apply the provisions of the law to all foreign forces in Iraq, including US forces.
If these efforts succeed, the US position in Iraq will shift from an ally to an undesirable party, in accordance with the vision of parliament representing the Iraqi people, which means an overwhelming political defeat for America against Iran, on the land of Iraq.

Saudi Arabia (ready for all possibilities) to counter Iran's aggression

Bekaa: Tehran will not be able to confront the military and will give me the storm
Monday - 15 Ramadan 1440 AH - 20 May 2019 AD Issue Number [14783]

mdyn-lryd.jpg?itok=DUfPI5Oa
Jeddah: Asma al-Ghabri
At a time of escalating Iranian-American tensions in the Persian Gulf, Saudi Arabia is asserting its readiness for all possibilities, including war, and continues to play its leading role in the region by hosting two Arab and Gulf summits within days, as well as hosting the 14th Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, In the city of Mecca, May 31 this year, chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.

The Gulf region has been wracked by a psychological war between Iran and the United States since Washington tightened oil sanctions on Tehran in early May, and then Washington announced the dispatch of an aircraft carrier to counter any Iranian threats or reprisals.

Four ships, including three oil tankers, two of which were flying Saudi flag, were sabotaged off the UAE this month, before Iranian-backed Houthis attacked two pumping stations for an oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia with drones.

While no one has claimed responsibility for the attack on ships near the emirate of Fujairah, Saudi Arabia has accused Iran of ordering the Yemeni rebels to attack the pumping stations.

Dr. Zuhair al-Harthy, a member of the Saudi Shura Council, referred to the warning of Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir that his country does not want a war and that if the other side chooses the war, it will respond with all force and firmness and defend itself and its interests. Saudi Arabia in the event of infringement will defend itself, and the fringes of the teeth, will not allow any longer on its national security, and will not stand idly by in front of the aggressions and acts of aggression exercised by Iran, and will respond strongly to defend its people and land.

"Saudi Arabia does not want war, it is with peace and stability, against aggression and escalation, but it is ready, it follows carefully everything that is happening around it, and puts all possibilities and scenarios, and will deal with Iran firmly and strictly, no matter how dangerous."

Al-Harithi stressed that the Saudis affirm that the policy of calm, wisdom and non-escalation does not in any way mean weakness, disregard for rights, fear of confrontation or a breach of sovereignty. Saudi Arabia, though always smiling, does not mean that She has teeth that she can tell at some point.

Dr. Nayef Al-Waka'a stressed that Saudi Arabia's policy is clear: it refuses to interfere in its affairs, interferes in the affairs of others, and always stands with friends, allies and brothers. It wants to send Iran a clear and specific message that the door of peace, The region is open, but it will not be at the expense of the sovereignty, security and stability of the countries of the region, and Saudi Arabia in particular. He added that the countries of the region, especially Saudi Arabia, has sent over the past years many messages of peace to Iran, while Iran responds to violence, pointing out that Al-Jubeir's remarks confirm that Saudi Arabia, extending its hand to peace with Iran, keep her other hand on the trigger of weapons, I am driven by Iran, stressing that Riyadh has the will, strength and messages to defend its security, its citizens, its capabilities and its gains.

He added that the new US sanctions against Iran will continue until they are accepted and accepted by a new agreement that suits Washington and its allies and cut Tehran's final path towards making nuclear weapons.

Al-Wak'a said that Iran had to bend to the storm because it would not be able to face the military confrontation in front of adversaries, and would not be able to face the economic collapse caused by economic sanctions unprecedented in history.

Al-Wak'a said that the Iranian regime's submission to American pressure is no more than a matter of time, and the political and media escalation of populist consumption at home. Iran is aware that it will be the biggest loser in any war that erupts, pointing out that the current data presents Iran with limited, The demands of the United States and the international just, with regard to its nuclear program first, and stop its interference in the affairs of other countries and the financing of terrorism.

No intention to launch war – US ambassador to Kuwait

IRAN HAS NOT BEEN, WILL NOT BE IN WAR: IRANIAN ENVOY

silverman.jpg The US ambassador to Kuwait, Lawrence Silverman

KUWAIT CITY, May 19, (Agencies): The US ambassador to Kuwait, Lawrence Silverman, said his country does not intend to launch a war in the region, which officials in Washington have confirmed, but the presence of its troops in the region is to protect its interests, reports Annahar daily.

The ambassador told the daily, “His country is very serious about protecting its interests and any Iranian attack on these interests will receive a harsh response.” “The United States has warned Iran of its actions, as well as its intention to develop its nuclear weapons, which is a matter of concern and destabilization of the region,” Silverman said.

“If President Donald Trump has denied rumors of sending 120,000 troops to the region, we do not want war but we are serious about responding to the Iranian regime if our interests are attacked here,” he said.

“There is no warning to our citizens in Kuwait because there is nothing to warn about, but the reason for the reduction of our staff at our embassy in Baghdad is based on information,” he said.

Intelligence says that an attack will occur on the embassy or its surroundings and therefore the US is taking proactive measures for fear of reprisals from some loyalists of the Tehran regime. As for Kuwait, there is no intimidation and rumors. Our embassies operate normally and there is nothing and no warnings for our citizens.

He added that the development of trade relations between the two countries and the development of the border port of Safwan is a good thing that will revive the economy of the two countries and develop trade exchange and thus cooperation between the two countries is very important. On the number of Diwaniyas he visited in the first 10 days of the Holy Month, he said that he visited more than 65 Diwaniyas during the first ten days of Ramadan.

The Iranian ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammad Irani, said his country was not and will not be in the war, and its history over the past two centuries attests to the fact that it did not infringe on any country, but in the event of any aggression it will undoubtedly mobilize all its available resources to defend its people and its territorial sovereignty, reports Al-Anba daily.

In an interview with the daily, the Iranian ambassador revealed that the current signs on the ground do not indicate that the region is heading towards a war. He pointed out that there are some parties or individuals, who either deliberately or due to ignorance, are beating the drums of war, but surely this is not a realistic vision. Iran urged to avoid any provocation, saying in the event of war none of the parties will be safe.

Agreement
In response to a question about the future of the nuclear agreement and whether Iran is really seeking to develop its nuclear program, the ambassador said that the statement issued by the Supreme National Security Council in Iran confirms that Iran has not withdrawn from the nuclear agreement signed in 2015 and that is what Iran has told the parties to the agreement that they must abide by what they have agreed upon after the withdrawal of the United States and make clear efforts to prevent any new sanctions from being imposed on Iran.

The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has no plans to change the flight routes to and from Kuwait since the DGCA does not see any need for that, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources familiar with the issue.

The source said that generalizations to change the route of flights occur in the event of wars and actual crises, where the control towers take command in less than half an hour, said the sources. The sources explained that the routes of civil air flights in Kuwait and abroad follow a security policy, which is internationally protected, and cannot be exceeded in any way, because the changes and circulars are official and international agreement, which sees the situation as normal.

The sources added, Kuwait depends on the entry of aircraft into the airspace on two tracks, the first across the sea above Failaka Island and the south of the country from above Sulaibiya and the part connected to entry from Iraqi airspace is limited operation or can be termed as almost non-existent.

The source stressed the DGCA had changed some civilian routes when the DAESH or the so-called Islamic State fighters were active to ensure the safety of the aircraft and passengers. Saudi Arabia does not want war but will not hesitate to defend itself against Iran, a top Saudi diplomat said Sunday, after the kingdom’s energy sector was targeted this past week amid heightened tensions in the Arabian Gulf.

Adel al-Jubeir, the minister of state for foreign affairs, spoke a week after four oil tankers – two of them Saudi – were targeted in an alleged act of sabotage off the coast of the United Arab Emirates and days after Iran-allied Yemeni rebels claimed a drone attack on a Saudi oil pipeline.

“The kingdom of Saudi Arabia does not want war in the region and does not strive for that … but at the same time, if the other side chooses war, the kingdom will fight this with all force and determination and it will defend itself, its citizens and its interests,” al-Jubeir told reporters. A senior Iranian military commander was similarly quoted as saying his country is not looking for war, in comments published in Iranian media on Sunday. Fears of armed conflict were already running high after the White House ordered warships and bombers to the region earlier this month to counter an alleged, unexplained threat from Iran. The US also has ordered non-essential staff out of its diplomatic posts in Iraq.

But President Donald Trump appears to have softened his tone in recent days, saying he expects Iran to seek negotiations with his administration. Asked on Thursday if the US might be on a path to war with Iran, the president answered, “I hope not.” The US Navy said Sunday it had conducted exercises in the Arabian Sea with the aircraft carrier strike group ordered to the region to counter the unspecified threat from Iran.

The Navy said the exercises and training were conducted Friday and Saturday with the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group in coordination with the US Marine Corps, highlighting US “lethality and agility to respond to threat,” as well as to deter conflict and preserve US strategic interests. The current tensions are rooted in Trump’s decision last year to withdraw the US from the 2015 nuclear accord between Iran and world powers and impose widereaching sanctions, including on Iranian oil exports that are crucial to its economy.

Iran has said it would resume enriching uranium at higher levels if a new nuclear deal is not reached by July 7. That would potentially bring it closer to being able to develop a nuclear weapon, something Iran insists it has never sought. Energy ministers from OPEC and its allies, including major producers Saudi Arabia and Russia, are meeting in Saudi Arabia on Sunday to discuss energy prices and production cuts. Iran’s oil exports are expected to shrink further in the coming months after the US stopped renewing waivers that allowed it to continue selling to some countries. OPEC and non-OPEC oil producers have production cuts in place, but the group of exporters is not expected to make its decision on output until late June, when they meet again in Vienna. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, meanwhile, has called for a meeting of Arab heads of state on May 30 in Makkah to discuss the latest developments, including the oil pipeline attack.

The kingdom has blamed the pipeline attack on Iran, accusing Tehran of arming the rebel Houthis, which a Saudi-led coalition has been at war with in Yemen since 2015. Iran denies arming or training the rebels, who control much of northern Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa. “We want peace and stability in the region, but we won’t stand with our hands bound as the Iranians continuously attack. Iran has to understand that,” al-Jubeir said. “The ball is in Iran’s court.” Al-Jubeir also noted that an investigation, led by the UAE, into the tanker incident is underway. The state-run Saudi news agency reported Sunday that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss regional developments.

There was no immediate statement by the State Department about the call. Countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) began “enhanced security patrols” in the international waters of the Arabian Gulf area on Saturday, the US Navy’s Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet said on Sunday.

The GCC countries were “specifically increasing communication and coordination with each other in support of regional naval cooperation and maritime security operations in the Arabian Gulf,” the Facebook statement said. House Democrats will hear from former CIA director John Brennan about the situation in Iran, inviting him to speak next week amid heightened concerns over the Trump administration’s sudden moves in the region. Brennan, an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, is scheduled to talk to House Democrats at a private weekly caucus meeting Tuesday, according to a Democratic aide and another person familiar with the private meeting.

Both were granted anonymity to discuss the meeting. The invitation to Brennan and Wendy Sherman, a former State Department official and top negotiator of the Iran nuclear deal, offers counterprogramming to the Trump administration’s closed-door briefing for lawmakers also planned for Tuesday on Capitol Hill. Democratic lawmakers are likely to attend both sessions. Trump and Brennan have clashed openly, particularly over the issues surrounding the special counsel’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Brennan stepped down from the CIA in 2017. The president last year said he was revoking the former spy chief’s security credentials after Brennan was critical of Trump’s interactions with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in Helsinki. Top national security officials often retain their clearance after they have left an agency as a way to provide counsel to their successors. It’s unclear if Brennan actually lost his clearance.

Baghdad

The adviser to the European Center for Combating Terrorism, Emad Allou, warned Tuesday of catastrophic repercussions for the Iraqi economy and society in the event of any war between the United States and Iran, pointing out that the two sides seek to turn Iraq into a field of interests liquidation.

"Iraq will be the loser of a possible war between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran because of the two parties' influence in Iraq," Allou told the news agency.

"The two sides seek to control the atmosphere in Iraq and turn it into a battlefield between the two sides away from the Gulf states and American economic interests," he said.

"The move will turn Iraq into hell and the government must act wisely and prevent any possible attack against US forces or even Iranian interests in the country to prevent Iraq from sliding into any possible war," he said.

Saleh: Concerned about the possibility of turning Iraq into a battlefield between America and Iran

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - CBS News reported an interview with Iraqi President Barham Salih on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, which dealt with the Iraqi position on the Iran-US conflict and the prospects and extent of its impact on Iraq.

"Iraq has lived the hell of war in the past four decades and does not want any new conflict on its territory and in any form, including proxy war," Saleh said in the interview.

"The current tensions are turning into a war in Iraq," he said. "Obviously we are very concerned. These tensions are a source of serious concern in Iraq and neighboring countries."

The president spoke of his meeting with Iraqi leaders on Sunday, saying that he "discussed current developments and regional influences".

"There are elements that are planning to provoke and the government is determined to deter them," Saleh said in response to a question about possible provocation of US forces in Iraq.

Iranian official: Trump head crazy and approaching his ships danger to them
(International: Al Furat News) The special assistant to the President of the Iranian Parliament for International Affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahian, that the belief of US President Donald Trump that he can force Tehran to negotiate by force is only illusions.
The Iranian official said in an interview with the CNN network on Monday, commenting on a tweet in which Trump said that the war against the United States would be the end of Tehran, said that the US president wants to control the Islamic Republic with threats and threats, but 40 years have passed since the Islamic Revolution In Iran, it has shown that it can not be spoken to in terms of threats.
"If he thinks he can outperform Iran and force it to negotiate from an unequal position by sending some aircraft carriers and bombers to the region, he makes a mistake, and when their ships approach us, that is a danger to them," he said. Firmly ".
With regard to Trump's invitation to Iranian leaders to contact him, Abdullahi stressed that Trump can not talk about any contacts with Tehran unless he leaves the tone of threat and force and unless he returns to the nuclear agreement, while ensuring that his successor in the White House does not withdraw.
"Trump believes that he is directing a weapon to the head of Iran through sanctions and is working to defeat our economy, but all that is happening in his imagination only, now he wants to contact him.
The Iranian official pointed to the conflict of opinion within the White House, accusing some officials, primarily National Security Adviser John Bolton, of seeking war, adding that Trump personally pursues an unstable and unbalanced policy, and as a result, "Iran receives conflicting signals, He is the master of the White House. "
The comments came against the background of escalating tension in the Middle East between the United States and Iran, where Washington has taken a series of military actions under the pretext of increasing the risk that Tehran or its allied regional factions attack US forces in the region.

US war with Iran is delayed

[Follow-up]
"The consequences of misinterpretation: postponing the US war with Iran," the title of the article "Eurasia Daily," about what is said to be a misinterpretation of intelligence that led to the Gulf region on the brink of all-out war.
On May 17, 2019, King Salman called on the Arab leaders of the League of Arab States, the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to hold an emergency summit in Mecca on June 30 to discuss the deterioration of relations with Iran.

Iranian officials said on May 15 they were "ready for war." But the next day, the Wall Street Journal assumed that the escalation of tension between the United States and Iran was a "misunderstanding" of intelligence from both sides.

The new US intelligence data, according to the newspaper, indicate that Tehran thought the United States was about to attack it and reacted to the imminent danger of placing its allies in the region on high alert, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and many Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria. This made Washington believe that Iran was planning an attack on the Americans and their allies, pushing the White House to send an additional carrier group to the Gulf and partly evacuating its diplomats from Baghdad. Thus, according to the Wall Street Journal, Tehran's actions were defensive in nature, but interpreted in the United States in the wrong way.

According to the newspaper, Donald Trump appears to have told his administration, including Defense Minister Patrick Chanahan, that he does not want a military confrontation with Iran. Thus, the military threat against Iran by sending an aircraft carrier appeared to be a step from Trump to raise the stake in the big game similar to the one he did against North Korea in October 2017, sending a group of Ronald Reagan carriers to the coast of that country.

However, it is clear from the Saudi leadership that the political and economic pressure on Iran is not diminishing. The United States continues to rally its allies in the region against Iran.
