TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran is trying to put an end to its abuses and stop its subversive activities in the region, after Tehran has revealed its truth to the international community.

Iranian President Hassan Rowhani said Thursday that the Iranian armed forces were not a threat to any country in the region, on the occasion of the military day in a military parade to reveal the latest military hardware.

"I want to say to the countries of the region that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are not against you or against your national interests. It stands against the invaders ... The root cause of our problems is the Zionist regime and American imperialism. "

Rowhani also described the United States' designation of the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization as "hateful" and "insulting" to Iran.

Observers believe that the statements of the Iranian president did not come into reality, stressing that Tehran's moves in the region is the biggest and greatest threat, if not the only one that threatens the security and stability of the Middle East.

The sources added that the classification of the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization will paralyze its movement in the region and the process of supporting its armed militias in more than one Arab country.

For the second time, President Rohani comes out to denounce this American rating, in a strong reference to the impact of these sanctions on the regime in Tehran.

In a desperate attempt to seduce Middle Eastern countries, Hassan Rowhani called on Iran's neighbors to "expel Zionism" on Thursday, stressing that "the roots of the region's problems" lie in American and Israeli arrogance.

"The nations of the region have lived side by side for centuries without any problem at all," he said in his Army Day speech.

"The Iranian armed forces will never be against you or against your national interests. Our armed forces stand in the face of the aggressors, "addressing his words to" the peoples of the region and neighboring countries and Islamic nations. "

The Revolutionary Guard is estimated to have 125,000 personnel, including military, naval and air units, bowing to the Supreme Leader's orders, and leading the Basij, a paramilitary paramilitary force, as well as controlling Iranian missile programs.

Iran claims that the declared goal of establishing the Revolutionary Guard is to protect the Islamic Republic's regime, but these goals have turned into an attempt to expand its influence and extend its control in the region and interfere in the affairs of neighboring countries. Qasim Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force, has already acknowledged that the Revolutionary Guard controls four Arab capitals Sana'a, Beirut, Baghdad and Damascus.

Trump's continued policy of pressure on Iran and against the regime's adherence to its sponsorship and sponsorship of terrorism, the hawks of the US administration in the classification of the Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization to limit its aggressive activities.

The adoption of sanctions against Iran and the classification of the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization reflect Trump's commitment to his commitments to this file, which is a major threat to the region and the world.

There is a state of apprehension and confusion in the political scene in Iran against the background of the US classification of the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization.

The regime in Iran, after a series of US sanctions, is trying to absorb the shock and ease the pressure on it after it has worsened, especially on the country's battered economy after the United States withdraws from the nuclear deal.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's armed forces pose no threat to any country in the region , Iranian President Hassan Rowhani said yesterday.

This came in a speech during a military parade of the latest Iranian combat equipment, including locally manufactured fighter jets and Russian-made missile systems.

The show, organized by Tehran on Army Day, came as US President Donald Trump continued his quest to contain Iranian influence in the Middle East through sanctions.

"I want to tell the countries of the region that the Iranian armed forces are not against you or against your national interests. They stand against the invaders. The root cause of our problems is the Zionist regime and American imperialism," Rouhani said. He added that the Iranian armed forces are stronger than ever. "We seek security and stability in the region, the sovereignty of states and the elimination of terrorism and its activities."

"The enemy is aware of our military strength and I doubt that he will dare to take a stupid and risky step against us, but if we do, we will respond in the strongest possible way," said Brigadier-General Aziz Naseerzadeh, commander of Iran's air force.

In the meantime, the commander of the ground force, the Iranian army Brigadier General Keumarth Haidari threatened US forces that it will not enjoy security anywhere in the world.

Economy News _ Baghdad

Oil prices jumped on Monday after the United States appeared to be announcing that all Iranian oil buyers would be obliged to end their imports or be subject to sanctions.

Brent crude futures rose 3.3 percent to $ 74.31 a barrel, its highest level since November 1, before falling to $ 73.63 a barrel by 0604 GMT, up 2.3 percent from the last close.

US West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 2.9 percent to $ 65.87 a barrel, their highest since October 31. By 0544 GMT, the price was $ 65.50 a barrel, up 2.3 percent from the previous settlement.

The Washington Post reported on Sunday that the United States was preparing to announce on Monday that current buyers of Iranian oil would not receive further exemptions from sanctions.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will announce that "as of May 2, the State Department will not grant further exemptions from sanctions to any country that imports crude or condensates from Iran," a newspaper columnist said, quoting two unnamed US State Department officials.

A source familiar with Reuters confirmed the report, but a spokesman for the State Department declined to comment.

The suspension of the exemptions will reduce oil supplies in a market already experiencing shortages due to US sanctions on Iran and Venezuela, another OPEC member.

OPEC and other international oil producers have also been cutting supplies since the beginning of the year to reduce supply to world oil markets and boost prices.

As a result, Brent prices rose more than a third this year, while Western Texas Intermediate rose more than 40 percent in the same period.

Trump administration set to end sanction exemptions for nations importing Iranian oil: report

The Trump administration is set to inform five nations that they will no longer be exempt from U.S. sanctions if they continue to import oil from Iran, reports said Sunday.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo plans to announce the policy move on Monday, which would no longer renew sanctions waivers for allies Japan, South Korea, and Turkey. The other countries no longer exempt are China and India.

The waivers for sanctions will expire on May 2. The Washington Post first reported on the move, and three sources confirmed the report to the Associated Press.

President Trump finalized the measure on Friday, according to the Post, in an effort to apply “maximum economic pressure” by cutting off its oil exports and reducing its main revenue source to zero.

In reaction to the administration’s move and expectations of tightening supply, early trading on Monday indicated Benchmark Brent crude oil futures rose by as much as 3.2 percent to $74.31 a barrel, the highest since Nov. 1, Reuters reports.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Iraq: Iranian gas imports will increase and we have no substitute for it

BAGHDAD -
The Ministry of Electricity said on Monday that shipments of gas from Iran will increase in June, saying that Baghdad "does not have a substitute to fill the place of Tehran gas," at a time when the United States is preparing to end the exemptions granted to Iranian energy importers, including Iraq.
A spokesman for the ministry, Musab al-Mudar, told reporters in Baghdad on the sidelines of the Energy Forum that shipments of Iranian gas will increase in June to 35 million cubic meters, according to "Reuters."
Iraq currently imports Iranian gas shipments per month, amounting to 28 million cubic meters.
The spokesman added that Iraq "has no alternative to import Iranian gas," noting that the suspension of imports (because of US sanctions) "will deprive Iraq of 4,000 megawatts of electricity."
Iraq has received an American exemption from sanctions imposed on Iran, allowing it to import Iranian gas, which relies heavily, and will end this exemption in June.
The lack of energy, which often leaves homes without electricity for long hours, is a key factor behind the loud protests in Iraq last summer.
To overcome this shortfall, Iraq relies on Iranian gas and directly buys 1,300 megawatts of Iranian electricity.
Washington re-imposed sanctions on Iran's energy sector in November after it pulled out of a nuclear deal signed between the superpowers and Tehran.
It is reported that America is about to end the exemptions granted to several countries importing Iranian oil.
According to the Washington Post, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is due to announce later on Monday that Washington "will not grant any sanctions exemptions to any country currently importing crude oil or condensates from Iran." Ending 29 / h

Report: Washington intends to cancel the exemption of some countries from the Iranian sanctions

 22 April 2019 12:55 PM
Mubasher : According to press reports that the US Secretary of State is announcing the determination of Washington to oblige all countries to stop the import of oil from Iran.

The decision comes almost a year after the US government decided to break the Iran nuclear deal, which led to the imposition of sanctions against Tehran.

The United States announced in November that it would grant eight countries - China, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey - an exception allowing it to continue importing oil from Iran.

Sources familiar with the matter told the Washington Post Monday that Mike Pompeo will announce today that starting May 2, sanctions will not be allowed for any country that has imported crude or condensed crude from Tehran.

On Nov. 4, the United States began to reintroduce economic sanctions against Iran.

The sources stressed that the market turmoil will be small for two reasons. The first is that the supply is now greater than demand, and the second is that Pompeo intends to announce compensation for the lack of supply through commitments from other producers such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Reports indicated that the Secretary of State had always intended to end those exceptions when market conditions allowed and that he had been working closely with President Donald Trump in the implementation of that plan.

Iran: US will fail to reach our oil exports to zero range

 22 April 2019 02:30 PM
Direct : The Iranian government said that the United States will fail to cut its exports of crude at zero scale and that Tehran is ready for any US decision to end the exemption on the purchase of raw ones.

Regardless of whether the exceptions will continue or not, Iran's oil exports will not reach zero range under any circumstances unless the Iranian authorities decide to halt their exports, the official IRNA news agency reported, quoting an unnamed government source.

"We are monitoring and analyzing all possible scenarios and conditions for the progress of our oil exports and necessary measures have been taken ... Iran does not wait for the American decision or the lack of oil exports," the agency said.

According to press reports today, the US Secretary of State is announcing today the determination of Washington to oblige all countries to stop the import of oil from Iran.

Last November, the United States awarded eight countries - China, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey - an exception allowing it to continue importing oil from Iran.

Iran Threatens To Close Strait Of Hormuz If US Blocks Its Oil Exports

Profile picture for user Tyler Durden
Mon, 04/22/2019 - 08:31

With oil surging to a six month high after a now confirmed report that Trump will not reissue Iranian oil export waivers after they expire on May 2, removing up to 1 million barrels from the market, Tehran has gone on the offensive and on Monday a senior Iranian military official said the Islamic Republic will close the Strait of Hormuz if it’s prevented from using it, the state-run Fars news agency reported.

brent%20spike_0.jpg

“The Strait of Hormuz based on international law is a waterway and if we are prevented from using it, we will close it,” Fars reported, citing Alireza Tangsiri, head of the revolutionary guards navy force.

To be sure, this is not the first time Iran has made such a threat: back in December Iran warned it would close the global oil chokepoint, when it said that "if someday, the United States decides to block Iran’s oil (exports), no oil will be exported from the Persian Gulf."

Iran%20navy%20drill%20Hormutz.jpg

President Rouhani's December threat had been welcomed by hardline clerics and military officials, including Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard’s elite Quds Force.

Previously, in early November, a prominent hardline cleric told a Friday prayer gathering in Mashhad, considered Iran's spiritual capital, that Iran has the power to "instantly" create conditions for $400 a barrel oil prices if it decides to act in the Persian Gulf.  Shia cleric Ayatollah Ahmad Alamolhoda grabbed headlines at the time by declaring, "If Iran decides, a single drop of this region's oil will not be exported and in 90 minutes all Persian Gulf countries will be destroyed."

And during the prior summer, after similar threats were issued from Tehran the spokesman for the US military's Central Command, Captain Bill Urban, told the Associated Press that US sailors and its regional allies "stand ready to ensure the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce wherever international law allows".

The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway carrying a fifth of the world’s traded oil that Iranian officials have threatened to block in retaliation for sanctions targeting the country’s nuclear program.

IranSHormuz.jpg

The U.S. has said it would move to stop any Iranian attempt to block the waterway.

As such, if Trump is indeed serious about not renewing Iran's export waivers, it may launch a sequence of events that culminated with regional war that pits Iran against the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. Whether or not Russia and China back Iran could mean the difference between a localized conflict and World War III.

Iran will close the waterway if prevented from using it: Fars

Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway vital for global oil shipments, if the country is prevented from using it, a senior military official said on Monday in what appears to be a response to the U.S. plan to end waivers on Iranian oil exports.

“If we are prevented from using it, we will close it,” the state-run Fars news agency reported, citing Alireza Tangsiri, head of the Revolutionary Guard Corps navy force. “In the event of any threats, we will not have the slightest hesitation to protect and defend Iran’s waterway.”

Oil Jumps as U.S. Is Said to End Iran Waivers After May 2 Expiry

Iranian officials have threatened to close the waterway in the past amid rising tension with the U.S. and Tangsiri’s remarks could be an attempt to deter the U.S. from its plan to slash the nation’s oil exports. The price of Brent crude, already at a six-month high, was little changed after the statement.

But the commander’s response comes as President Donald Trump prepares to deal a severe blow to the Islamic Republic’s economy. On Monday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will deliver the decision that no waivers from sanctions will be renewed to importers of Iranian oil, according to four people familiar with the matter. The U.S. will also announce offsets through commitments from other suppliers such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

She pointed out that "the political blocs in the Iraqi parliament continue to pressure the Prime Minister on the subject of interventions of the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Baghdad and demanding that the measures be taken to stop this intervention, considering that what the American diplomat is doing is a new method of extortion and pressure on the legislative and executive authorities to prevent any legislation A parliamentary that would legalize the US military presence in Iraq. The U.S. has said it would move to stop any Iranian attempt to block the waterway.

Looks like Thursday, May 2, 2019 COULD BE A MAJOR TURNING POINT on the effects of the Insanian, to INCLUDE the Insanian IRGC Spanctions.

I suspect both Russia AND China WILL MAKE PUBLIC Statements decrying the effects on the Insanians WHILE PRIVATELY Supporting the REMOVAL of the Insanian Mullahs AND Associated Government. I STRONGLY believe the Old Silk Road via the Modern Belt AND Road Initiative IS BEING IMPLEMENTED based on the 1972 former President Tricky AND Chinese Communist Chairman Mousy Dung Agreement to REESTABLISH the Old Silk Road to "Open" "Up" "China"!!! The Arrangements being made WITH The True The United States Of America Patriot President Donald J Trump AND Chinese Prez'dent Xi Jinping THROUGH the current trade deal(s) WITH The United States Of America AND China HINGE on the REESTABLISHMENT of the Old Silk Road Agreements made by former President Tricky AND Chinese Communist Chairman Mousy Dung. Agency of the orbit -

Baghdad

The White House announced Monday that US President Donald Trump has decided not to extend exemptions granted to some countries from sanctions on Iranian oil exports, the agency quoted 'Reuters'.

The White House said that oil markets are qualified to deal with the termination of exemptions, noting that Saudi Arabia and the UAE 'agreed to take action in a timely manner to ensure that the global demand for oil is met after the exit of Iranian oil from the markets.'

US won’t be renewing oil waivers: Pompeo

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The United States will not renew oil waivers given to eight countries last November that are set to expire next month, ending weeks of speculation about the move that will have dire consequences for the Iranian economy.

Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin broke the news on Sunday evening, citing State Department officials. Reuters also confirmed the news.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the decision on Monday that all eight countries that had been issued waivers, including China and India, will have to end their import of Iranian crude oil in early May or face sanctions, according to the reports.

Maximum pressure on the Iranian regime means maximum pressure. That’s why the U.S. will not issue any exceptions to Iranian oil importers. The global oil market remains well-supplied. We’re confident it will remain stable as jurisdictions transition away from Iranian crude.

— Secretary Pompeo (@SecPompeo) April 22, 2019

“The goal remains simple – the deprive the outlaw regime of the funds it has used to destabilize the Middle East for four decades and incentivize Iran to behave like a normal country,” Pompeo told a press conference in Washington on Monday.

“Our goal has been to get countries to cease importing Iranian oil entirely. Last November we granted exemptions from our sanctions to seven countries and to Taiwan. We did this to give our allies and partners time to wean themselves off Iranian oil and to assure a well-supplied oil market.”

“Today I am announcing that we will no longer grant any exemptions. We are going to zero. Going to zero across the board,” he added.

Pompeo said the US estimates its sanctions have denied the regime more than $10 billion.

“We will continue to enforce sanctions and monitor compliance. Any nation or entity interacting with Iran should do due diligence and err on the side of caution. The risks are simply not going to be worth the benefits,” he added.

Oil prices jumped by about three percent in reaction to the news.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, earlier released a statement saying: “President Donald J. Trump has decided not to reissue Significant Reduction Exceptions (SREs) when they expire in early May.”

“This decision is intended to bring Iran’s oil exports to zero, denying the regime its principal source of revenue.

The United States, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, three of the world’s great energy producers, will take measures to assure global oil markets remain adequately supplied, the statement said.

“We have agreed to take timely action to assure that global demand is met as all Iranian oil is removed from the market.”

The decision could have serious consequences for Iran's neighbor Iraq, which depends on Iranian energy to subsidize its ramshackle power grid. Riots broke out in Iraq's southern city of Basra last summer when Iran briefly cut is electricity exports.

Washington granted Baghdad a waiver on sanctions in November, twice extended. It is unclear whether Iraq's special dispensation will also be discontinued.

Earlier, Pompeo held a phone call with Iraq’s Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.

“The Secretary underlined his support for Iraq forging closer ties to neighboring Arab states,” according to a State Department readout.

Although Iraq’s non-Arab neighbor Iran was not mentioned in the readout, the statement reflects Washington’s desire to see Iraq source its energy from Saudi Arabia and others rather than Iran.

Responding to the US move, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, Iran’s newly appointed foreign ministry spokesman, issued a statement saying: “Given the illegal nature of these sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has attached no value...to these sanctions waivers.”

“However, given the negative practical implications of these sanctions and the possibility of increasing the level of these implications with not extending the waivers, the ministry of foreign affairs has today been in constant contact with the relevant internal bodies as well as holding intensive consultation with many foreign partners from Europe and neighbors.”

Decisions would be announced in due course, he added.

Iran’s Oil Ministry said it will continue exports, regardless of what decisions are made in Washington.

“Iran’s oil exports will not become zero under any circumstances,” an unnamed official within the ministry told Tasnim News on April 22. The only way Iran will stop exporting oil is if a decision to do so is made by Iranian officials “under some circumstances… and those circumstances have not risen yet,” the official said.

The ministry has not taken emergency measures in anticipation of the expiration of the waivers because such action is not necessary, the official said. “We have monitored, reviewed and analyzed the possible scenarios facing the oil exports. And for every scenario we have taken appropriate measures in our prewritten plans. It’s not the case that to export its own oil, Iran is waiting for American decision or indecision,” he explained.

Iran has years of experience in offsetting the actions of Americans and others, he added, and will also resist this latest encroachment by the US. “The global oil market needs Iran’s oil and we have numerous and diverse ways to sell our country’s oil,” the ministry official said.

The landmark 2015 nuclear deal gave Iran some relief from decades of sanctions. But after US President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement last summer, Washington re-imposed sanctions on Iran’s energy, banking, and shipping sectors. US hawks pledged to bring Iranian crude exports to zero under what they called the “toughest ever” sanctions.

Iranian leaders have said they are accustomed to the sanctions they have lived under for 40 years, and Washington’s stance against them will not dent their revolutionary resolve.

Greece, Italy, and Taiwan – three of the countries that were issued waivers – have already complied are now import zero Iranian oil. China, India, Turkey, Japan, and South Korea must now do the same.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia are expected to offset supplies if the end of the waivers destabilizes the oil market, according to the Washington Post.

Trump’s administration will “try to rely on Saudi Arabia… to reverse policy and increase volumes to calm market fears of oil supplies quickly tightening,” predicted energy analyst Peter Kiernan, Reuters reported.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have been on the rise after the US State Department designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization earlier this month and Iran reciprocated by slapping the same label on US Central Command (CENTCOM). Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei appointed a new IRGC chief yesterday.

The IRGC terror designation could have dire consequences for Iraq, whose armed forces have close ties with the Iranian Guards. Washington may, however, be making some exemptions so that countries who have contacts with the IRGC and aid agencies working in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen can avoid sanctions.

“Simply engaging in conversations with IRGC officials generally does not constitute terrorist activity,” a State Department spokesperson told Reuters on condition of anonymity Sunday.

“Our ultimate goal is to get other states and non-state entities to stop doing business [with] the IRGC,” the spokesperson added.

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, known locally as Hashd al-Shaabi), have very close ties with the IRGC.

Chargé d’affaires of the US Mission in Iraq Joey Hood, in an interview on Saturday with Iraq’s Dijlah TV, said Baghdad will have to end Iran’s influence on their security forces, saying such dependency weakens Iraq’s sovereignty.

The Shiite PMF militia groups linked to the Revolutionary Guards are also connected to conflicts in Syria and Yemen and Washington will take steps to try to limit this in the coming days, he added in comments that were dubbed into Arabic by the TV station.

It’s time for the Iraqi army to impose its own authority throughout the country, he said.
