US “Transferred $1.3bn More” in Cash to Iran

7th September 2016 in PoliticsSecurityUncategorised

By John Lee.

The Obama administration followed up a planeload of $400 million in cash sent to Iran in January with two more such shipments in the next 19 days, totaling another $1.3 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing congressional officials briefed by the U.S. State, Treasury and Justice departments.

The cash payments—made in Swiss francs, euros and other currencies—settled a decades-old dispute over a failed arms deal dating back to 1979.

U.S. officials have acknowledged the payment of the first $400 million coincided with Iran’s release of American prisoners and was used as leverage to ensure they were flown out of Tehran’s Mehrabad on the morning of 17th January.

Iran agreed $10b Airbus deal financing with leasing company
  • Boeing deal has come under pressure from lawmakers in U.S.

Iran expects the U.S. Treasury to grant licenses by the end of this month that should help pave the way for the completion of the purchase of more than 200 aircraft from Boeing Co. and Airbus Group SE, Iran’s deputy transport minister Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan said in Tehran on Sunday.

Iran is trying to upgrade its aging airline fleet and in June signed an agreement with Boeing to buy 80 planes and lease 29 more. But the deal has come under pressure from lawmakers in the U.S. who have discussed various measures to restrict the sale, including prohibiting the Treasury Department from licensing it.

The transaction would be the Chicago-based plane maker’s first in Iran since sanctions on the country were lifted in January and follows a $27 billion agreement with Airbus Group SE for 118 planes. Airbus jets have more than 10 percent U.S. content so they also require export licenses.

“The U.S. should’ve issued the licenses already and they haven’t done that,” Kashan said, adding that they will be granted by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, known as OFAC.

Kashan said Iran has an agreement with a leasing company for $10 billion in financing for the Airbus deal and that it will be signed within days. He didn’t disclose the name of the leasing company or say where it was based. The value of Iran’s deal with Boeing has yet to be finalized and financing talks are ongoing, he said.

“Our latest forecast is that by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2017), we will definitely see a number of those planes, both from Airbus and Boeing, arrive in Iran,” he said.

Obama breaks another promise to ‘save’ the Iran deal

The Obama administration keeps on breaking its promises on the Iran deal — its promises to the American people, that is.

The latest betrayal: The Treasury Department just lifted key restrictions on Iran’s ability to do business in US dollars and access world financial markets — breaking Team Obama’s explicit vows as it lobbied Congress not to nix the deal.

Iran’s banks weren’t even cut off from the US financial system over the nuclear issue — but over Tehran’s funding of terrorism, its regional aggression and so on.

Which makes another Treasury move even more squalid: It will now also let foreign firms and branches of US firms do business with Iranian groups like the Revolutionary Guard.

The Guard is the chief conduit for Tehran’s support of terrorism, tied to numerous plots, including one in DC aimed at a Saudi envoy. And it’s also a prime force helping Syria’s Bashar al-Assad massacre civilians in his bloody bid to keep power.

It was behind the kidnapping of US sailors in January, the serial harassment of US Navy ships and even last month’s arrest of another Iranian-American in Iran.

Yet the Obama Treasury is making it easier for the Revolutionary Guard to do business — as part of an official US drive to boost Iran’s economy in the name of preserving the nuclear deal.

This, when a Foundation for Defense of Democracies report last week noted much of Tehran’s windfall from the deal has gone to Iran’s military, including its nuclear and missile programs and its terror operations.

At least Team Obama has only three months left to shower more gifts on Iran. But what of the next president?

Donald Trump slams the Iran deal every chance he gets. Hillarious Clinton promises to be tough in “enforcing” it, but publicly backs President Obama’s signature foreign-policy achievement. If she wins, let’s all hope this is another of those issues where her real position isn’t her public one.

It's getting scarier every day as this unfolds. The wiki leaks documents are finally showing the press what alot of us have known for over 4 years, and that is that obummer and crooked Hillarious are looking for complete domination of the world. I have never been a conspiracy theorist but the stuff coming out and the arab spring sure points to just that. They are making sure that leaders around the world, especially the middle east are beholden to the u.s. and with the open borders around the world, will put all of us on our knees and take away every single right we have as citizens. The Iranian deal has nothing to do with an rv for any of us. We are not waiting for iran to do any specific thing that tips the scale in either direction for an rv. I have asked myself this question and that is this. Why if crooked Hillarious gets into office would she want to any of us to become millionaires, etc. My answer came today in the email dump and that was that she doesnt and wouldnt. The emails talked of catholics being crooked strange people, and the world wide open borders, and so many many things that my mind cannot even wrap around. The depth of corruption in her and those around her including republicans is absolutely frightening. WE THE PEOPLE WILL NO LONGER EXIST AS WE DO NOW IF SHE IS ELECTED.

My reasoning is Iran and Iraq do trade together- they are both joined at the hip. I think the recent adjustment to the dinar is in anticipation for the rial to gain value to be closer to the dinar. Once they are near to each other in value then I expect the biggie to happen. I can't see Iran and Iraq revaluing at different times as this would cause trade disparities - this weekend is going to be very telling

I think we witness two rising stars at once - imagine the positive effects that would have on the global economy

I think you might be right........It sure seems that way 9 months later. It's looking that way.
