Iraq does not agree with U.S. sanctions against Iran but will abide by them to protect its own interests, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
“As a matter of principle we are against sanctions in the region. Blockade and sanctions destroy societies and do not weaken regimes,” he said at a news conference.
“We consider them (sanctions on Iran) a strategic mistake and incorrect but we will abide by them to protect the interests of our people. We will not interact with them or support them but we will abide by them,” he added.
U.S. President Donald Trump pledged on Tuesday that firms doing business with Tehran would be barred from the United States, as new U.S. sanctions against Iran took effect.
The United States and Iran, increasingly at odds, are Iraq’s two biggest allies, and the sanctions put Abadi’s outgoing government in a difficult position.

Experts blasted Abadi's remarks, saying he is insistent to spin in the Iranian orbit.

Damn right they will do what the USA says.

Next the  USA should demand the Dinar go live and stop the auctions.

If not US dollars probably from the auctions through phony banks will end up in Iran just like during the last sanctions. The US also needs to make sure Iranian oil isn’t sold on the black market if they want those sanctions to work.

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again.  If you want peace in the ME shut down Iran’s proxy wars. It’s such a shame they have so much oil money and it’s wasted on war.

A wise man that Abadi, he sees he can get more money, guns, financial aid, political support etc. from the USA than that of Iran. He is willing to play the game with Trump as long as it benefits Iraq. Iran is broke right now an can offer Iraq nothing but a hiding place for all their thieves.

I am not advocating Haider al-Abadi to support Iran or ignore Iran’s sanctions with their implications but I do think Haider al-Abadi and others in Iraq do not want to appear to be taking sides to see the demise of one over the other. Iran’s demise in this case since there are long term relations to be fostered from Iraq beyond the Insanian’s Mullahs and the Insanian Proxy influences in Iraq over various Bicraqi Iraqi. In this case, let The United States Of America do the “dirty work” of collapsing the Insanian regime to restart Iran with a much more amenable and internationally acceptable Iran. Haider al-Abadi and others in Iraq are walking a tight rope attempting to balance what appears to be tenuous issues.

There are many benefits, international economic included, to having the Insanian political regime changed out and flipped internally via “The People”. A coup by “We The Poeple” of Iran will likely garner immense support from many local and international countries to include support from the United Nations.

Just my conjecture, thoughts, opinion, and :twocents: for whatever THAT is worth!!! CAVEAT EMPTOR, Reader!!! :o

Iran like Lebanon were once very progressive countries. When the Mullahs took over in 1979 Iran was basically kidnapped. I have 3 friends from Iran and they are very educated, beautiful, peaceful, and loving people. They are mortified what has and is happening in their country.  From talking to them I believe most of the country is ready for a change in their government and to stop supporting the ME proxy wars.

Abadi stresses that Iraq is against US economic sanctions against Iran

But we will abide by them because we do not want to endanger the interests of our citizens

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Tuesday that Iraq is against US economic sanctions against Iran and that we do not cooperate with them and are not correct, but we will abide by them because we do not want to endanger the interests of the Iraqis .

"Iraq is against economic sanctions against Iran because it paid the biggest price for unjust sanctions imposed on it for 13 years, because the sanctions were imposed on the basis of weakening the former regime, but it harmed the Iraqis, ripped the society apart and destroyed the social fabric," Abbadi said at his weekly press conference on August 7, 2018. The regime is not weakened, it is stronger and the people are weak and impose economic sanctions on countries. They do not weaken the regimes, they weaken the people, and it is not possible to punish an entire people and starve them because of political action . "

"We do not react or sympathize with the economic sanctions against Iran and they are incorrect, but we will abide by them because we do not want to endanger the interests of the Iraqis," he said .

" Our sanctions against Iran are unjust," he said. " The sanctions and sanctions are destroying societies and not achieving their goals. We stand with the oppressed and the oppressed, but our people also need to stand with us, not stand with the weak and forget our people.

He added that "we have held several meetings with representatives of nine provinces so far and listened to the urgent and immediate needs of the people of these provinces and issued a number of decisions to improve the services and we continued implementation through the Central Committee for the reconstruction and services of the provinces under the Prime Minister and we formed in each ministry and in each governorate crisis cell to follow up And we want to implement and implement what we have decided on improving services accurately and if there is a delay we will listen to him, and proud to be interact with our citizens and communicate with them and this is our duty, and our duty is also to listen to our people and seek various means to provide the best service T to them and we have another program to meet the people of the rest of the provinces who have not met him. "

" We have mobilized all efforts and mobilized the financial, logistical and administrative capabilities to improve services, create jobs and improve the economy in the provinces," he said .

He called on the Electoral Commission to speed up the announcement of the results so that the political blocs to walk the constitutional times and hold the first meeting of the House of Representatives and the election of the bodies that emerge from it and thus the formation of the government .

"There is no conflict for the post, but we do not want a vacuum in the country if the constitutional time ends and the parliament is not formed. The more we agree, Early we can push the political process and manage the country strongly and be more effective in providing services to citizens and create jobs and activate investment .

On the issue of corruption , noted al - Abadi said that " a confirmation of our approach in thefight against corruption , we referred a number of ministers to the integrity, the two former ministers were in the Ministry of Industry and a former minister was in the Ministry ofEducation in addition to the two directors on the back of foot - dragging and wasting money and file corruption , and an update of what we started in the fight against file Corruption has been referred five thousand officials are the rank of director general and above to integrity and the judiciary, some of them the degree of minister and issued orders to eliminate the three hundred officials and issued orders to arrest and bring more than three thousand officials with special grades and these actions we did not focus on the media .

He added that  "we will not stop chasing corruption files, whether they were former ministers or current, has been withdrawn by the Minister of Electricity in the current government, and follow the other files and we have a list to discuss to improve the performance of the government and work to put the country in the right track through the mechanisms of combating Corruption " .

"The supreme religious authority played a major role when Iraq passed through a political vacuum," he said. "The reference directives are always supportive of the interests of the people, the safety of the humanitarian and service situation, the care of the political process, the care of the constitution and the protection of Iraq.
