Siemens, the largest European electrical and electronic engineering company, is in the process of a huge deal worth more than 13 billion euros with the Iraqi government, Germannewspaper Handelsblatt reported on Sunday .

The newspaper quoted quoted sources as saying on September 23, 2018 that Joseph Kaiser, the chief executive of the company, based in Munich, Germany, went to Baghdad today to coordinate a declaration of intent to sign an agreement worth more than 13 billion euros and will work under "Siemens" Building and developing the electrical power sector in Iraq .

Government sources told the newspaper that German Chancellor Angela Merkel last week contacted Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and supported the deal, after news of the intention of the US company "General Electric" competing for "Siemens" to sign a similar agreement with Baghdad .

German Minister for Economic Affairs Thomas Parais is accompanying the Siemens chief on his visit to Baghdad, the newspaper reported .

The prime minister has already announced a preliminary agreement with Siemens to rebuild and develop the country's electricity sector, which has been suffering from deterioration and neglect for nearly two decades .

Economy News Baghdad:

Siemens said its chairman, Joe Kaiser, met with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi on Sunday to discuss the German company's proposal to boost electricity production in the country .

Germany's engineering group said it was proposing an agreement to add 11 gigawatts of power over four years, saying it would boost the country's production capacity by about 50 percent .

The company did not disclose the value, but such a contract would be valued at billions of euros based on previous similar deals .

Iraq suffers from a large gap between electricity consumption and supply. Experts say peak demand in the summer, when people accept the operation of air conditioners because of high temperatures, is about 21 GW, far exceeding the network capacity of 13 GW currently .

Kaiser said in a statement after the meeting with Abadi that they discussed "the comprehensive road map of Siemens to build a better future for the Iraqi people ."

"In Egypt, we did the same thing and we succeeded in building the electricity infrastructure in record time and with the highest efficiency ."

In 2015, Siemens signed an 8 billion euro ($ 9.4 billion) deal with Egypt to supply gas and wind power plants to add 16.4 gigawatts to the country's electricity grid, the largest order received by the group .

The company's proposal for Iraq, introduced for the first time in February, will include reducing the country's energy bill, building smart networks, expanding power transmission networks, upgrading existing ones and adding new capacity .

The German group will also assist the government in raising funds from international commercial banks and export credit agencies with support from the German government, providing thousands of jobs in Iraq .

Siemens said it would provide a $ 60 million grant for software to Iraqi universities .

Alsumaria News / Baghdad
The agency of Alsumaria News, a meeting with the CEO of Siemens Energy Musab Khatib, who talked about a road map for his company to address the electricity crisis in the country.

Below are the questions and answers for Khatib's meeting:

Can you shed more light on the energy sector roadmap presented by Siemens to the Iraqi government?

Entitled "Roadmap for the Electricity Sector in Iraq"Siemens plans to add 11 gigawatts of new generation capacity to the local power grid over a period of four years, which will ensure reliable electricity for 23 million Iraqi citizens across Iraq. 50% of current generation capacity in Iraq Siemens also focuses on improving the transmission and distribution of electricity in Iraq through the construction of 13 high-voltage 132 kV substations to be built mainly in the southern region of Iraq The roadmap is based on four pillars Essential is energy and education Anti-corruption and funding, which means that the Iraqi citizen in the heart of this plan, but represents a driving force.

What are Siemens plans to carry out this big task?

We have made a similar plan in Egypt , and of course we can do it in Iraq. Siemens has strengthened Egypt's power generation capacity by adding 14.4 gigawatts to the national electricity grid in just 27.5 months, creating 24,000 direct and indirect jobs. We can call this the concept of "business that serves the community", and we are ready and ready to do so again in Iraq.

After completing a comprehensive assessment of the Iraqi energy sector, we have developed an integrated strategy to develop this vital sector. The Siemens Roadmap for Energy Sector Development in Iraq outlines how to establish and develop the main infrastructure of the Iraqi energy sector to provide electricity throughout Iraq using Siemens Advanced Technology Which are relied upon to do so efficiently.

Siemens has identified eight key areas that we can develop based on our global expertise to support Iraq's long-term economic development and prosperity. These eight steps begin by reducing the power loss in the existing generation plants to the minimum possible, ensuring that the energy produced is reaching Iraqi citizens and has not been lost throughout the process.

Siemens then seeks to build a smart electricity grid, increase the efficiency of the country's electricity transmission network, modernize existing power plants in Iraq, add new generating capacity in the disadvantaged and most power-hungry areas, and close the gap in local generating capacity. We will, of course, rely on Siemens' advanced technology, which can be used in the short, medium and long term to add new generation capabilities throughout Iraq and provide power to the places most in need.

Another step that Siemens seeks to achieve is linking Iraq to the countries of the surrounding region through high-voltage electricity lines linking the Iraqi electricity grid to the electricity grid in the Gulf states. In addition, Siemens seeks to optimize the utilization of available Iraqi resources, a goal no less important than the previous one. We can also use waste gas ignition and treatment through advanced technological applications, to provide a local source of fuel used in power plants, and to create a long-term source of resources for the Iraqi government that can be used to finance the generation, transmission and distribution projects. For energy.

We believe that the purification and use of waste gas in power generation will not only result in significant economic savings for Iraq, but will significantly reduce health risks by reducing the level of harmful emissions, improving air quality and contributing to the Iraqi government's goals of reducing carbon emissions at the level of The country.

Last but not least, Siemens wants to invest heavily in the development of Iraqi citizens. Through education and training, Siemens aims to help Iraq develop new ranks of local talent and cadres with world-class competencies and skills to serve and manage the nation's infrastructure and accelerate the pace of sustainable development in Iraq.

This latter goal represents a firm commitment to Simmons, and includes the provision of technical and vocational training as well as education and training of Iraqi youth on transparency and combating corruption to create a new generation of local cadres with the highest levels of qualification and skills that ensure a culture of commitment and compliance with laws and regulations in the performance of business . We have already signed a letter of intent with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development to participate in these development efforts in Iraq.

I give you an example in this context. During Siemens' construction of the giant energy projects in Egypt, we trained 600 Egyptian engineers and technicians who are now responsible for the operation and maintenance of the three giant plants.

Will Siemens' cutting edge technology reduce overhead in power generation?

In Egypt, Siemens' highly efficient H-Class gas turbines enable the country to achieve $ 1.3 billion in fuel savings per year. There is no single reason why we should not achieve the same level of savings - at the very least - in Iraq.

What are the similarities between what Siemens did in Egypt and what will it do in Iraq?

We at Siemens do not believe that what suits a country has to suit another country. In Egypt, the three projects were new projects, the first of its kind in the country. But the situation is different in Iraq, where we have designed sector development plans based on the country's actual energy needs, including setting up fast-paced energy projects and upgrading existing infrastructure. But the element of time is of particular importance to us, as we have demonstrated our ability to deliver on our promises of superior quality and in time.

The giant energy projects implemented by Siemens in Egypt were a huge task by all standards. These projects have increased Egypt's power generation capacity by 45%, enough to supply 45 million Egyptian citizens with electricity. Despite the enormity of these projects, Siemens has not only been able to deliver on its promises to the Egyptian people and government, but we have exceeded all expectations to achieve this. In 18 months we completed the first phase of the project since the signing of the contract with the Egyptian government, A new global standard for fast-paced energy projects. Today, the three mega-projects operate with a fully integrated cycle system.

Siemens has provided 24,000 direct and indirect jobs during the implementation of these projects in Egypt. Will you do the same in Iraq?

Based on our current estimates, Siemens seeks to create 60,000 direct jobs during the construction of the roadmap projects for the energy sector in Iraq. This is a key objective of the company, because we firmly believe in the importance of contributing to the development of the communities in which we operate. For us, it's not just about doing business, but we want to leave a mark and have a positive impact on society and people's lives.

What is the next step?

We look forward to meeting with the Iraqi government and actively moving forward with the implementation of the roadmap for Iraq's energy sector to meet the promise we have made towards the Iraqi people. Siemens has been committed to the Iraqi market for more than 80 years as a strong and reliable partner. We want to be that partner who is helping to build a new Iraq that is sustainable, prosperous and prosperous for all citizens.

Siemens' economy brings back memories to 80-year-olds and announces their project: So will your days

Siemens returns the 80-year-old memories and declares its project: "So will your days be."Twilight News

Joe Kaiser, CEO of Siemens, during my recent visit to Iraq, realized from the first moment the Iraqis' determination to rebuild their country, despite the great difficulties they have endured over the past years. Their visions, hopes and dreams have left a deep impression on me. But what steps should be taken to achieve those visions and dreams on the ground? How can Iraqis restore the spirit of their economy and develop their society?
A very limited number of companies can claim to be a reliable partner for Iraq for more than 80 years, but Siemens can say so with confidence. We have been active in Iraq since the 1930s, when we first equipped Kirkuk, Mosul, Najaf and Karbala power plants, the Royal Palace in Baghdad, and the water and utility facilities in several Iraqi cities. Since then, we have confidently demonstrated through many and many projects, even in the most difficult times in Iraq, that we are a reliable partner in Iraq and for Iraq.
At the moment, we would like to raise the ceiling of our cooperation to a new level. I am looking forward to meeting with Iraqi officials in the new government to discuss the immediate support that Siemens can offer to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq. After all, we are here in Iraq and once the political leadership makes its decision, we will immediately start implementing the "roadmap for the development of the electricity sector in the new Iraq". We have launched this name on the integrated program to develop the Iraqi energy sector, which includes short, medium and long-term stages to rebuild the entire energy system in the country.
According to the road map, Siemens plans to add 11 gigawatts of new power to Iraq's electricity grid over a four-year period. This project will ensure reliable sustainable energy for some 23 million Iraqi citizens. The new capacity will increase the current generating capacity in the country by 50%! It will also significantly increase the rates of transmission and distribution of electricity in Iraq, particularly in the southern regions.
Over the past 12 months, Siemens experts have conducted a thorough and integrated analysis of the Iraqi energy system. They have come to this conclusion: As demand for electricity increases steadily every year, Iraq needs to increase its power generation capacity by 40 GW by 2025. At Siemens we realize The enormous pressures on the national electricity grid in Iraq, especially during the summer, and the reduction of loads and power cuts is a daily crisis for every family and Iraqi company, every local community in Iraq, and the Iraqi economy as a whole. We are also aware of our previous experience in other countries that investment in the infrastructure of the electricity sector supports economic growth, which in turn is reflected in increasing wealth and stability and, of course, providing a better and more prosperous life for all.
For these reasons, Iraq is in dire need of a reliable and sustainable energy system, so the Siemens map will pave the way for economic development in the country.
In addition, Siemens will help the Iraqi government manage appropriate funding packages from global commercial banks and export credit agents and obtain the support of the German government. I am confident that this important project will not only strengthen and strengthen the partnership between Iraq and Siemens, but will also deepen the common relations between Iraq and Germany. Our extensive global experience confirms that Siemens' investments are paving the way for more investments by German companies in the countries we collaborate with.
Our road map for Iraq will provide reliable, sustainable electricity throughout the country, with thousands of education opportunities for Iraqi youth and tens of thousands of jobs in the new Iraq. This is a personal promise from me, and we always have the ability to fulfill our promises.
Is this ambitious? Yeah. Indeed, Siemens has already done similar projects with all success! In Egypt, Siemens added 14.4 gigawatts of new power generation capacity to Egypt's electricity grid in just 27.5 months. The giant project also provided 24,000 new jobs. Together with our local partners, we have been able to increase the capacity of the Egyptian electricity sector in record time and provide reliable electricity to more than 40 million Egyptians. We have not only delivered our promises to the Egyptian people, but we have delivered more than them! This is what we call "the power of promise"
I am confident that no other company in the world can provide additional generation, transmission and distribution capabilities, all from a single source. We can do more. We can contribute to supporting growth in Iraq in several other areas, such as the provision of modern transport systems, affordable health care, energy-saving buildings and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology.
Through my own vision, investment in the energy sector must be top priority for Iraq at the moment. Prosperity and development are always energy. Energy is a necessary requirement for economic development. It is the first building block, followed by the development of infrastructure projects, manufacturing and services. All of these stages depend mainly on electricity.
In my view, every business or company should be responsible for the development of the society in which it operates, not only in the short term but also in the long run for the benefit of future generations. At Siemens we call this the concept of "business in the service of the community"
. This is why we intend to donate a health care clinic equipped with Siemens medical equipment to serve at least 10,000 patients each year
. We also undertook to develop a special concept for establishing the most advanced Iraqi schools that will rely on energy Renewable sources. By funding these schools in the future, we will help to rebuild Iraq's education sector
• Siemens will provide a $ 60 million software grant to enable Iraqi university students to acquire advanced digital skills. Through this grant, students will be able to deal directly with and manage the Siemens Life Cycle Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) program. Twenty of the world's largest car manufacturers are currently relying on the program, along with 20 other major aerospace companies and the world's top 20 aircraft engines. Here we are talking about highly developed industries that represent the highest quality of utmost importance.
• We also intend to support community development in Iraq by organizing a series of advanced training and educational programs. These programs include a series of technical and vocational training courses and awareness of the best anti-corruption practices in order to create a group of Iraqi officials professionally and morally responsible, trained to the highest levels of technical and digital training to help them to reconstitute the new Iraq. Under the auspices of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Siemens aims to provide vocational training to a group of 1,000 Iraqi students in principle.
Unlike other companies, Siemens moves and shares its expertise and knowledge to the countries that cooperate with it and train and educate its cadres of talented and ambitious young people. In other words, we invest in the long term and believe that playing a central role in the development of local skills and talents is a key part of our role in supporting sustainable development. For us, social responsibility is one of our most important priorities. People need real and profitable jobs, and we want to cooperate to achieve this on the ground.
Iraq is a country of great history and civilization. It is the cradle of civilization and has contributed to the creation of the greatest and most important inventions that mankind has enjoyed so far. At Siemens, we are very proud to bring the latest and most advanced power plants in the world to areas that boast the greatest civilizations of human history such as the city of Babylon, which was the site of one of the largest and most important cities of the ancient world: Great Babylon.
Iraq has a wealth of ambitious young people, so trust us in Iraq's great potential for long-term sustainable development, which will allow it to play an increasingly central role in the Middle East and globally. We are a reliable partner for Iraq for periods of more than 80 years, and we are now ready to support Iraq's efforts for a better future in all fields.

newspaper Vinnachal Times, Wednesday, that Siemens may have to share a contract worth billions of dollars with US rival General Electric to develop a power supply system in Iraq after the intervention of US President Donald Trump 's management , the
newspaper said , citing sources familiar with the US government intervened in favor of General Electric and put pressure on the Iraqi government.
Although no decision has been made so far, Siemens has been the favorite candidate to win a power supply contract for 11 gigawatts in Iraq in a deal worth about $ 15 billion.
GE, which is facing a severe slowdown in its electricity sector, is now expected to receive a large part of the deal that may be included in its statements when it reports its third-quarter profit on Oct. 30.
Siemens did not give up hope of winning part of the contract.
"Our talks with the government are continuing and we look forward to entering into a formal agreement to provide reliable electricity at an affordable and sustainable price for Iraq," a Siemens spokesman said.
Joe Kaiser, chief executive of Siemens, flew to Iraq in September and spoke with Prime Minister Haider Abadi about the contract.
The report said US pressure for General Electric had increased.
In February, Siemens offered to build new power plants in Iraq over a four-year period of 11 gigawatts. This increase in production will increase the number of Iraqis with reliable electricity by 50 percent to 23 million.
The Siemens contract could fetch nearly 11 billion euros ($ 12.70 billion) and support its energy sector, which saw a 60 percent decline in profits in the first three quarters of this year.
"The road map of Iraq is one of Siemens' top priorities and we are fully committed to it," a Siemens spokesman said.
"We submitted our document of the Iraq Electricity Production Roadmap to the Iraqi government in February, and since then we have held a series of meetings and received a positive response from the government to develop the country's electricity infrastructure," he said.

Siemens is likely to have to share billions of dollars with its rival, General Electric, to develop Iraq's power supply system after an intervention by the administration of US President Donald Trump, the Financial Times said.

The newspaper said, quoting informed sources that the US government intervened in favor of General Electric and put pressure on the Iraqi government.

Although no decision has been made so far, Siemens has been the favorite candidate to win a power supply contract for 11 gigawatts in Iraq in a deal worth about $ 15 billion.

GE, which is facing a severe slowdown in its electricity sector, is now expected to receive a large part of the deal that could be included in its statements when it reports its third-quarter profit on Oct. 30.

General Electric could not be reached for comment. Siemens did not give up hope of winning part of the contract.

"Our talks with the government are continuing and we look forward to entering into a formal agreement to provide reliable electricity at an affordable and sustainable price for Iraq," a Siemens spokesman said.

Siemens chief Joe Kaiser traveled to Iraq in September and spoke with outgoing Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi about the contract.

Adel Abdul Mahdi was then prime minister in Iraq.

US pressure for General Electric increased, the report said.

In February, Siemens offered to build new power plants in Iraq over a four-year period of 11 gigawatts. This increase in production will increase the number of Iraqis with reliable electricity by 50 percent to 23 million.

"The road map of Iraq is one of Siemens' top priorities and we are fully committed to it," a Siemens spokesman said.

"We presented our document of the Iraq Electricity Production Roadmap to the Iraqi government in February. Since then we have held a series of meetings and received a positive response from the government to develop the country's electricity infrastructure. '
