Bahrain calls on its citizens in Iraq to leave immediately

 

 

The Kingdom of Bahrain, on Friday, 7 September 2018, called on its citizens to leave Iraq immediately following the events in the country, especially in the province of Basra, where angry protests broke out due to the deterioration of the level of services .

The Bahraini Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling on the citizens of the Kingdom in the Iraqi territories to "leave immediately", referring to "the current circumstances and developments experienced by the brotherly Republic of Iraq ."

Bahrain confirmed that "its invitation to its citizens is a guarantee of their security and for their safety," in reference to what is currently taking place in Iraqi territory .

During the past three days, Basra has witnessed a wave of angry and unprecedented protests in the region, during which the headquarters and offices of most political parties and movements were burnt, as well as the burning of government institutions, including the governorate office .

Finance announces the release of amounts to the province of Basra

Announced the Ministry of Finance, on Friday, the launch of more than 53 billion dinars within the amounts allocated to the province of Basra in the investment budget.

The ministry said in a statement received "Trend Press" a copy of it, "it continues to release financial funds allocated to the province of Basra within the investment budget," noting that "the launch of more than 53 billion dinars within the investment expenses that meet the need of the visual citizen."

The ministry explained that "the amounts funded were distributed on investment expenditures between more than 3 billion dinars within the allocations of the province of petrodollar amounts, and more than 25 billion dinars within the program of development of regions."

The ministry added that "more than 24 billion dinars were funded within the investment projects of the province."

The Ministry of Finance announced, on 30 August last, the launch of 210 billion dinars for the province of Basra, stressing the continuation of funding the province of the current investment expenditure for 2018.

Sons of the tribes spread in the areas of Basra to protect institutions

 

 

BAGHDAD / Al-Masala: The Basra Provincial Council, Saturday 8 September 2018, revealed the spread of tribesmen in most districts of the province to protect government institutions from sabotage, noting that he is studying the use of popular mobilization forces to maintain security.

Council member Ghanim Hamid said in a statement followed by the obelisk, that "the sons of tribes spread in most districts of Basra province to prevent the demonstrators in the burning and vandalism of government buildings and service projects."

A senior security source said on Saturday that the US embassy in the Green Zone erected thermal bumpers to intercept missiles, indicating that it had begun to evacuate its staff to fortified shelters. 

"The targeting of the Green Zone and the US Embassy in the center of the capital Baghdad with missiles stands and is seen by the gangs (which have been) sabotaging the destruction and destruction," the source told Al-Ghad Press.

 

"The bombing of Green and the US embassy will continue unless there is a military order to pursue these gangs," he said. 

"The rockets were not launched from the Tal Mohammed al-Athriyah area north of Baghdad, but were fired from Sadr City, east of the capital," he said.

Abadi: Basra is full of its people ... and the ruins are political

 

 

BAGHDAD / Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Saturday, September 8, 2018, that the destruction in Basra is a political ruin, while revealing the exclusion of Basra from some paragraphs of the budget and government decisions.

Abadi said in a speech made before the members of the House of Representatives during his attendance at the special session of the Council today and followed by the obelisk, that "Basra is rich and remains full of its people, and the demands of its people are the provision of services," stressing "the need to isolate the political side of the service side, Political ruin ".

"We have held high-level meetings to discuss the situation in Basra, and we have decided as the Council of Ministers to spend money away from the routine procedures," he said, adding that "we have forces in the province and ready to face any emergency and these forces authorized. 

He added that "it was agreed to exclude a number of measures on Basra of the instructions for the implementation of the budget for the fiscal year / 2018 and instructions for the implementation of government contracts No. 2 of 2014." 

The Council of Ministers voted during its extraordinary session held on Saturday, a set of decisions on Basra, including the sending of a ministerial team remains in Basra until the completion of the tasks and delegated all necessary powers of the Council of Ministers, as well as the release of funds allocated under the management of the team with extraordinary powers.

Basra province has been witnessing for months angry demonstrations demanding the provision of services, especially drinking water and electricity, and developed to the intervention of security forces, killing a number of demonstrators and wounding others, and burned the headquarters of parties and government buildings in the province as well as the Iranian consulate.

The Organization for Justice and Development of the Middle East and North Africa Studies, one of the organizations of the United Nations Office against Corruption, warned on Saturday that the Iraqi authorities to suppress the demonstrations of people in the city of Basra, pointing out that this will lead to a catastrophic scenario in Iraq and the extension of the Basra uprising to all cities and provinces in southern Iraq Including Diyala, Maysan, Dhi Qar, Najaf and Babil.

"The Iraqi uprising in Basra is legitimate in the face of legitimate popular demands to fight government corruption and control of families in Iraq at various government positions and deprive Iraqis of services, water, electricity and other necessary living services," Zaidan al-Qayani, the organization's spokesman, said in a statement.

The organization warned of "the Iraqi people to crack down on corrupt officials and government officials in the event of repression of these demonstrations or attempt to distort the popular uprising in the absence of prosecuting corrupt officials and looting of the wealth of the Iraqi people."

"Where did the wealth of the Iraqi people go, even though Iraq is one of the most oil-rich countries?" The organization said, noting that "the corrupt control of the posts has led to the lack of the Iraqi people and the starvation of Iraqis.

And called for "to accelerate the prosecution of all corrupt in Iraq and the confiscation of wealth and property that they looted from the Iraqis and remove them from office and fight against the control of some families to government positions so as not to turn the uprising in Basra into chaos and civil war threatens Iraq as well as the end of the control of some countries on Iraq."

You just get the feeling from the articles that Sadr and Abadi want to do the right thing for their country.  I hope they are given the opportunity without Iran, Maliki, and all the other goons that appear to want to thwart any progress.
