slapant
My sister in her 20's is so meticulous of her body image and what food she ate. One time I saw her purging food. Is this normal? I am worried about her.
Karsten
Possibly she has a eating disorder know as Bulimia where no matter what she weights she sees herself as fat and over weight. I worked with a gal in the restaurant years ago....Cute, great personality, hardest back server we had.....But she suffered with this while in high school. She would wear too pairs of thermal underwear so no one could tell how thin she was. So got down to about 80 pounds and ended up getting very sick and the point she had to have help to get her physical as well as mental health back in line. Your sister could very well be at the early stages.....Eating very little, binge eating and then throwing up. Karsten

slapant
I don't want my sister to end up like that. How do I tell her?
md11fr8dawg
First let her know you love her and support her, but she is obviously not seeing what others around her are seeing. Maybe use the Karen Carpenter example of someone who had a thriving career, but lost it all due to this mental disorder. Try to get her to agree to seek help (you may have to take her yourself). If not she probably won't make it. As a last resort you may have to physically put her in the car or call in professionals to get her to a place where she can receive help. I wish you much luck and success. Prayers for your sister and for you also. Be Strong, she needs you.
slapant
I told mom about her purging, and we are planning to consult her to a psychiatrist. I hope she will cooperate and be willing to help herself.
