" 

Al-Rubaie called on Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to "intervene and instruct the concerned parties to ease the traders and support them, especially that there is a desire for traders to go out in a demonstration after the Eid in coordination with the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce to demand their fairness after the losses suffered because of these procedures and routine unacceptable" . 

Eid days of every year are witnessing a marked increase in prices of foodstuffs and clothes as a result of the demand by citizens to buy and prepare for Eid.

Fist paragraph, Abadi is being called upon to "soften the routine". Meaning to ease up on the drastic nature (Price gouging) on commodities this time of year. Which happens this time every year because (last paragraph} of the citizens desire to prepare for Eid. I think nothings going on here. Sometimes I hate the way I think.

We need to remember that tariffs encourage in-country business to develop products, jobs, infrastructure, taxes, etc, rather than importing expensive tariffed products. Tariffs could be good right now for the reasons I just mentioned, depending upon the product.
