The Coordination Committee for Iraqi Traders on Saturday called on Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to cancel the new customs tariff and correct the decisions that are in the interest of external forces.

The committee said in a statement, read by "Economy News", that its members "call on Prime Minister Haider Abadi to abolish the customs tariff and correct new decisions that are in the interest of external forces."

"We are in the interest of the country and the people, and despite all the wounds, we have kept the media silence from this moment until the meeting of the prime minister on Monday," she said. "We hope that we will be fair and fair.

"In recognition of the circumstances of the country and the lack of new burdens on the community, the enemies may exploit their interests and interests and give the government and its institutions sufficient resources to correct the decisions that we believe are in the interests of external forces and restructure decisions," the committee said in a statement.

It should be noted that the new customs law enacted by the Council of Ministers imposes an import tax up to 300% for all imported goods as of 1/7/2018.

According to traders, this law will contribute to raise all prices of imported materials, which will be severely affected by the citizen base, while Iraq lacks the existence of factories.

The border crossings authority said on Saturday that the customs tariff law has not yet been implemented, indicating that on Sunday the decree of dismissal will be issued whether or not it will depend on a decision by the prime minister.

"The customs tariff law has not yet entered into force and has not been implemented at all outlets," said Alaa al-Din al-Qaisi, director of relations and information at the authority.

He added that "the body sent the instructions of the law to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and have a meeting with Abadi tomorrow evening Sunday," noting that "tomorrow during the meeting will be the decision to dismiss by the Prime Minister to implement it or not."

"The new law does not raise prices contrary to what is rumored, but will contribute to stability and differentiate customs tariff between the nature of imported materials."
