The Irish Irish News website said the long-term notes were due to begin trading next year. As a preliminary step, the Bank of Scotland's Bank of Ulster has printed five and ten pounds sterling. The two critical papers mimic some aspects of nature, showing flowers, butterflies and birds. The bank began printing long-term banknotes of £ 5 and £ 10, which will begin trading in Northern Ireland next year. The four Northern Irish banks have printed their notes according to a tradition that has been going on since the 19th century. Ulster Bank, a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland, has offered long-term banknotes that will replace current notes. The bank has announced that it will follow the Bank of England's approach to printing banknotes, but has taken a step further. Switzerland and Canada are among the few countries to have printed longitudinal notes so far.
