Source reveals Iranian threats to liquidate the allies of the alliance - Sadr Abbadi

The leader of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Qassim Soleimani, has threatened to kill a number of Sunni political leaders if they decide to join an alliance led by cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, political sources said on Saturday.

Sky News quoted the sources as saying that Soleimani "sent letters of direct threat of death and liquidation to a number of leaders of the Sunni political blocs in the event that decided to join the alliance Suron-Nasr."

And joined the lists of "Suron" backed by Sadr, and "victory" led by Abadi, and "wisdom" led by Ammar al-Hakim, and "national" led by Iyad Allawi, in order to form the largest bloc in parliament, in an effort to form the next government.

Soleimani aims to push Sunni forces into alliance with Hadi al-Amer's "Fatah" list and "state of law" led by former Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki, both of which are backed by Iran.

In May, Iraqis voted in parliamentary elections, while uncertainty about the composition of the new government was strained amid rising public discontent over poor service conditions and rising unemployment.

The Federal Supreme Court approved the results of the elections on August 19, and issued by Iraqi President Fuad Masum, last Monday, a decree to invite the House of Representatives to convene at its fourth session on September 3.

In their first session, deputies are to elect a speaker and two deputies. They will then elect a new president and assign the leader of the largest bloc to form a government.

The recount of the vote was delayed by three months, but did not result in much difference from the preliminary results, as Sadr's list maintained its progress.

Maliki warns "brothers of the road" of "trick": the infighting will not survive him

Maliki warns Abadi of "deceit" will trigger "fighting" comprehensive

Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - warned the leader of a coalition of state law Nuri al-Maliki on Saturday opponents of the "Fitna" because of what he said they rely on "regional and external interventions" in the negotiations to form a government.

Maliki implicitly referred to Abadi, who has American support and acceptance of the Arabs and is seeking a second term as prime minister.

Maliki's comments come as US presidential envoy Brett McGurk is holding consultations with various forces in Iraq to persuade them to join the alliance led by Abbadi. There is no sign that the parties will succeed in forming the government soon.

The formation of the government requires the formation of a major parliamentary bloc with 165 votes to succeed in nominating the prime minister within the 329-seat parliament.

It is not easy to see any Iraqi government emerging from regional and international interference, as was seen in previous government formations since the fall of Saddam Hussein's former regime by US forces in 2003.

In contrast to McGowork's moves, Iran's Revolutionary Guards chief of staff, Qassim Soleimani, is holding consultations with Iraqi forces to form a government that has no reservations about Iran's influence in Iraq.

Abadi has already declared his commitment to US sanctions imposed on Iran recently, a position that has made Tehran furious.

Maliki has good relations with Tehran. Maliki is a strong ally of the Fatah bloc led by Hadi al-Amiri, who spent 20 years in exile in Iran against Saddam.

Maliki said in a statement that "external interventions aimed at creating a rift in the structure of Iraqi society and create a state of conflict and internal fighting will not be saved from one and does not gain fruit, not one of disappointment and loss and regret and the great responsibility before God for blood and lives and the destruction of the homeland and the threat of security and sovereignty."

"In this context, we stress the importance of caution to those who try to plunge the country into these conflicts and to prevent direct intervention and negotiation on behalf of mobilizing one party against another."

Maliki, who ruled Iraq for eight years, expressed his regret that "the brothers of the road and fate listen to their plans, which seems supportive of them, despite their knowledge that it is devious and deceitful for all."

Ebadi belongs to the Maliki-led Dawa party, but they ran in two separate alliances with contradictory positions in politics.

Maliki said in his statement, which received 24 copies of Kurdistan that there are "polarization and interference, regional and external and a target aimed at the unity of Iraq and its people."

He pointed out that it is "important that the brothers in the political process stand together in solidarity to thwart those schemes that have been characterized by the outcome of the crisis ... the current."

"You do not hear the sound of sedition that external forces are weaving to dye it with the blood of the people," said Maliki, who still has strong influence.

"We will not go in the direction that regional and major states want and we will not allow the simplest weapon to be directed at the sons and brothers of one nation," he said, referring to Washington and its allies.

He called on Maliki to hold "meetings of sincerity and openness of Iraq for the reconstruction of the nation and the reconstruction of what has been destroyed by terrorism and political harmony" in Iraq.

The winning blocs in the parliamentary elections are conducting intensive negotiations and consultations to announce the major bloc that will form the new government. Parliament will hold its first session on Monday to elect a president and two deputies, with a president elected within 30 days.

Masum cannot postpone parliament's first session

Iraqi Presidential adviser, Sherwan al-Waeli confirmed on Saturday that President Fuad Masum cannot postpone the parliament first session, which is scheduled to be held on September 3, as he has no privileges to take such decisions.

Waeli pointed out that Masum set the date of the parliament's first session according to the constitution, adding that the first session must be held on time.

Masum has previously issued a decree calling parliament to convene on September 3, setting a hard deadline for politicians to form the next government and begin much-needed reform to rebuild the country.

Maliki Warns of Civil War in Iraq

Maliki Warns of Civil War in Iraq

ERBIL — Iraqi Shi’ite politician, Nouri al-Maliki, has warned of a civil war in the country as the division between sides further deepens.

In a statement on his official Facebook account, Maliki said Iraq and its sovereignty is not under serious threat as political factions are divided while regional and international players interfere in the Iraqi politics.

He said that foreign interference in the political process in Iraq would be the reason for a possible civil war in the country.

As an implication to Iran and the US, he wrote that Iraqis should not take the path which “regional and world states” want.

Iraq is stuck in the political row between sides since the May parliamentary elections. The largest coalition which could form the next government is yet to be established with deepening division between those closer to Tehran and those allied with Washington.
