The Times newspaper published a report by its correspondent for the Middle East, Richard Spencer, that the game of forming the government in Iraq after the last round of elections, a race between the US government and Iran.
The report points out that the Qods Force commander, the prominent Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, visited the Iraqi capital Baghdad in an attempt to form an alliance after the victory of the Shiite leader opposed to Iran, Moqtada al-Sadr in the elections.
The Iraqi press reported that Soleimani, who oversees the IRGC operations abroad, spoke with the second-largest bloc led by Iran's ally Hadi al-Amiri, who led a coalition of small parties in an effort to save Iran's influence in Iraq.
According to the newspaper that the US special envoy to the international coalition against the state organization, Brett McGirk, arrived in Kurdistan; for talks with Kurdish leaders.
The report finds that the emergence of Iranian and US officials in Iraq confirms the stakes on which the United States and Iran to form a government can deal with them separately.
Spencer pointed out that the movement of Muqtada al-Sadr won first place in Sunday's elections, but it needs three parties to be able to form a government, pointing out that Britain and the United States hoped to win the current Prime Minister Haider Abadi, who came in third, Once he will support him.
The newspaper quoted Sadr as saying in a tweet: "We will move forward wisely and based on national feelings to raise the flag of victory," pointing out that it is called the block of Sadr, "and" and slaves "conquest," both with other parties expressed their hostility to sectarianism, He reconstituted himself as an anti-sectarian politician.
The report noted that "Sadr mentioned in his twittering, albeit hinting, Kurdish and small parties, and excluded the parties belonging to all of Iran, and looked like a red cloth for the bull Sulaimani, who invested heavily in building militias to fight the state organization in Iraq.
According to the writer, Sadr's supporters, most of them working class, chanted slogans demanding the departure of Iran, pointing out that this is a major change, where America was the enemy.
The Times concludes its report by pointing out that Amiri is the leader of the Badr Organization, formed in the 1980s; to participate in the Iran-Iraq war alongside Tehran, and in 2014 his organization became the center of popular mobilization fighters against state organization.
