What a friggen Shiite show! All orchestrated, in my opinion . The only reason we are in Syria is to keep Russia from putting their gas pipeline through to Eastern Europe. That would allow Russia to sell gas to Eastern Europe much cheaper than we do. Oil wars 2.0

I completely 100% agree with you but I have noticed many people on here refuse to look through the veil of deceit to see that all presidents have been nothing more than puppets including our current one as well as the last one before him and the one before that. There is always an objective connected to money when something like this happens. If Americans were so darn Christian and against the oppression of all people we wouldn't be doing in our own country TODAY! If Americans were so concerned with what's right they would be fighting for the slave trade that has been taking place in Lybia for the past year.. but I usually keep my mouth closed on here bc I've noticed this group is full of closed minds and anytime anyone says anything contrary to their collective beliefs they jump on you like a dog in heat! Then I would have to spend the rest of my weekend replying to 30 people who want to keep replying nonstop and then get offended when you stop taking part in that chaos... ok rant over! Good post!

He added that "the bombing was carried out on Syrian territory, but the United States seeks to hit and reduce the role of the resistance represented by Hezbollah, Iraq and Iran."

"The US-British-French alliance with the Syrian operation will create a strong counter-alliance from Russia, Syria, Iran, Hezbollah and the resistance factions in Iraq."

As for the Arab position on the American operation on Syria, Abdel Latif said that "his mother is controlled by bin Salman can not be called his mother and do not hesitate to Musharraf's position."

"The strike targeted three chemical weapons facilities and Washington was careful to avoid civilian casualties," Sullivan said.

For his part, al-Jaafari stressed "a number of points starting from Iraq in his vision of the solution in Syria, which is the need to give priority to the political solution to the Syrian crisis, and that the Syrian people is the one who determines his own destiny," and stressed "Iraq's refusal to produce and use chemical weapons from any party Was, in particular, that he had suffered in previous periods of use of this type of weapons, "according to the statement.

"The escalation in Syria will negatively affect the security and stability of the region as a whole, and will give terrorism an opportunity to regain its activity after its defeat in Iraq, its decline in Syria, and the threat of terrorism today threatens all countries of the world," Jaafari said.

Why Russia did not respond to Syria's triple strike?

We are the news91  2018-04-15

The Russian Defense Ministry has provided an explanation for questions about the missile strikes by the United States and its allies Britain and France for Syria, and why they did not respond with similar strikes on the aggression.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Defense that none of the missiles of aggression against Syria did not target any of the areas where the Russian air defenses in the bases of "Tartus" and "Hameimim" Russian.
Moscow has warned Washington and its allies earlier that it would respond immediately to any missile targeting Russian military positions stationed in Syria.
According to Russian political analysts, Russia has not responded to the US-led tripartite aggression, as long as the missiles did not reach the Russian troops in Syria, while the Syrian air defenses did not spare an effort to resist this aggression.
"What is the next step?" Said a political analyst, Dmitry Smirnov, in the daily Komsomolskaya Pravda. "I think that any Russian who is sleeping and hearing the news of the bombing of the US by the Americans in Syria has sites for the Russian army," he said. The Middle East, or will things get out of hand? "," Shall we bid farewell to our relatives and go back, or wait a little? "
Mr Smirnov said that President Putin acted wisely and avoided the scourge of World War III, and showed the whole world that Russia's policy is responsible and Moscow does not act on the basis of reactions.

Niki Healy: We will not withdraw from Syria ... and new sanctions against Moscow tomorrow

15-04-2018 07:36 PM

The Euphrates -

US envoy to the United Nations, Nikki Healy, said on Sunday that her country will not withdraw its troops from Syria 'only after achieving its objectives', asserting that Washington will not hold any direct talks with President Bashar al-Assad, and impose new sanctions on Russia to support the regime .

In an interview with Fox News, Haley cited three goals for the United States: ensuring that chemical weapons are not used in any way that could jeopardize the interests of the United States, defeat the terrorist 'da'ash' organization and ensure a good point of control for what Iran is doing.

"Our goal is for American troops to return home, but we will not withdraw them until we have verified that we have accomplished these things," she said.

Two weeks ago, the US president announced in a surprise statement at a rally in Ohio that his country's troops would withdraw very soon from Syria, calling on other parties to take an interest there.
"We have to go back to our country, to where we belong, where we want to be 'the United States,'" Trump said, , As he says.

In another interview with CBS television, the US delegate said today that the United States would not hold direct talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

"Syria has refused to participate in multilateral negotiations in the framework of a political process sponsored by the United Nations," she said, adding that Russia should "push" Syria to the negotiating table before saying that the Syrian regime is "not worthy" To hold direct talks with Washington. "We will not have any direct talks with Assad, but we will participate in the Geneva talks led by the United Nations."

In contrast, she pointed out that the mission of the United States 'was not the departure of Assad, but the prevention of war and the message' (did not specify the nature).

The US delegate said that Washington will "impose on Monday, new sanctions against Moscow and companies associated with Syria's chemical weapons program."

She explained that 'sanctions will affect companies that deal with equipment related to the use of chemical weapons in Syria'.

On Saturday, Washington, Paris and London launched a triple military strike on targets of the Syrian regime.

The strike came in response to the killing of dozens of civilians and injuring hundreds, Saturday before last, a chemical attack carried out by the Syrian regime on the city of Douma, in the eastern Ghouta in the countryside of Damascus.

US calls on Iraqi militias to stay in Iraq, not fight for Assad in Syria

WASHINGTON DC (Kurdistan 24) – State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert called on Iraqi forces in Syria—where Shia militias from the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) are fighting on behalf of the regime—to return home.

“We would call on the forces, whatever forces, to remain engaged on the ground in Iraq and not go to Syria,” Nauert said on Friday, as she responded to a question from Kurdistan 24 at a press briefing.

Sheikh Maythan al-Zayadi, the head of a major PMF militia which operates under the auspices of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, Iraq’s most senior Shia cleric and a moderate figure, recently met with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

Zayadi complained that fighters from the more extreme Shia militias, who are under Iranian control, and who have gone to Syria, receive a salary twice as large as those who remain in Iraq: $1,200 vs $600.

The money for all the fighters comes from Iraq’s federal budget. They are all supposed to be under Abadi’s command. However, there are serious questions as to whether he exercises much authority over the Iranian-backed groups.

Iraq’s Al-Ghad Press reported on Thursday that Abadi was “unable” to resolve this problem, “given his weakness and lack of firmness in making major decisions.”

As the US had already strongly denounced the regime in Syria when the exchange at the State Department briefing occurred—and was just hours away from bombing chemical weapons sites there—the US criticism of Iraqis fighting in support of Bashar al-Assad’s regime was notably mild.

The same US reluctance to criticize the Abadi government was also evident, as Nauert responded to criticism from Iraq’s Foreign Minister, Ibrahim al-Jafaari.

At an Arab League Foreign Minister’s meeting in Jeddah on Friday, Jafaari warned that an airstrike on Syria would be “a catastrophic defeat” and put all countries “in jeopardy.”

Jafaari was an Iraqi opposition figure, living in London, until Operation Iraqi Freedom overthrew Saddam Hussein’s regime. He became Iraqi Prime Minister in 2005, but was obliged to step down the following year, as the US and UK concluded that he was ineffectual.

Asked about Jafaari’s criticism, the State Department Spokesperson responded, “Iraq has its own unique concerns.”

“It’s certainly okay,” she said, for Iraqis “to address their feelings about any actions the United States Government and other governments may take.”

Entifadh Qanbar, an Iraqi-American and President of the Future Foundation in Washington DC, however, denounced the Iraqi government’s “hypocrisy.”

Qanbar explained to Kurdistan 24 that Baghdad had recently issued a decree confiscating the land of some 4,000 Baathists in Iraq, most of whom are old and retired.

“How can they support the Baathists in Syria, but oppose them in Iraq?,” Qanbar asked.

“If the Baathists are a threat to democracy in Iraq, aren’t they a threat to democracy in Syria, particularly given Bashar al-Assad’s brutalities against his own people?”

Qanbar also noted that Assad had been behind a coordinated wave of bombings on August 19, 2009, and the targets included the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

Iraqi officials charged then that Syria had supported al-Qaeda in carrying out the attacks. It was, thus, highly ironic, Qanbar said, that Iraq’s Foreign Minister now chose to ignore that.

The basic reason for Jafaari’s opposition to an attack on Syria, Qanbar affirmed, was Iran’s very strong influence in Baghdad.

Indeed, following the US, French, and UK airstrikes, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry issued a statement later on Saturday, criticizing them as “a dangerous escalation.”

The Syrian crisis is entering a new phase. "Gouta chemical storm" and "Atlantic response" move it to another strategic scene. The American-British-French strike targeted the Syrian chemical program and bases, centers and military and research warehouses linked to it. This is the first wave or the first message, whose consequences should not only destroy the ability of the regime in Damascus to use internationally banned weapons. It makes no sense if it does not invest politically. The flood of international statements and positions that preceded the event fueled the conflict between Moscow and Washington. US circles have been dealing with conditions set by the Donald Trump administration to avoid military action. Of course, the three countries that carried out the military action did not say with the clear support of the NATO alliance that their goal was to topple the regime in Damascus. She did not say that she was ready to fight Russia. Nor does it claim that it will engage in confrontation to protect this regime. The two sides reiterated their commitment to reject the direct confrontation. But President Trump considered the strike proof of Moscow's failure to deliver on its promise to prevent the Syrian regime from using chemical weapons. "What happened was also directed at President Vladimir Putin, who was insulted, as his ambassador in New York said!

The response decision could not be reversed. The policy of ambiguity adopted by Washington, London and Paris was dictated by purely military considerations. It was clear that the option of resorting to military action alone was on the table, and no other options, as White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said after the meeting of President Trump's war council. Britain expressed its determination to react internationally to the regime of President Bashar al-Assad to prevent him from using chemical weapons in the future. That is what Prime Minister Theresa May, who is in a "chemical battle" with Moscow, has said after accusing her of poisoning Russian spy Scrippal on her territory. This file was transmitted to the Security Council. Like French President Emmanuel McCron, he said that the response to Damascus "will be at the time we choose." Even Turkey has called on its leaders to remove President Assad from power and move to a political solution. Everyone seemed to be waiting for Washington's position. This position was not ambiguous. The origin of this ambiguity is Trump's comments and his quick, spontaneous and calculated response, just as he did last month when he announced the withdrawal quickly from Syria. Has not returned to its fold, who are now taking the opportunity to establish a clear strategy for this country and its opponents. They will not get out of it as their rivals and opponents expected. But rather to redress the situation. Defense Minister James Matisse, who knows that a military strike such as those that targeted Al-Shaerat airport a year ago will not bear fruit and will not change the reality of war and political solutions traded. The use of the banned weapons system in Ghouta was not the second or third and fourth time ... The international community did not act to deter it. Indeed, the world was for days looking helplessly at what was going on in the suburbs of eastern and southern Damascus. General Mattis on the eve of the strike directly on Moscow. As his boss did minutes later. Accusing Damascus of complicity with Damascus. He did not deviate from an international consensus that he accuses of being responsible for what happened in Syria because of the disruption of the Security Council. This has led the West to move beyond the international system. He clearly and unambiguously declared what could be considered a new policy or revived an old position. Affirmed his country's commitment to end the war in the Levant on the basis of Geneva and international resolutions. His position revealed that the current storm must bear fruit. And it is not a "whirlwind" raised by President Trump and will calm down soon, as I expected the error of Russian circles resorted to the game of time to vent congestion. And that the United States is not an impotent state that wishes to be distributed to it. The balance of power must be reversed. It is necessary to drop the "power and weapon paper" on which President Putin is leaning to fight America and Europe and to modify the international order ... by force and weaponry. Russian leaders have warned that the strike is aimed at "destroying the entire political process" in the Levant. They were hurt if they were referring to President Vladimir Putin's plan and his project in Syria. What the Trump administration wants today from the blow is a change in the rules of the game set up by the Kremlin over the past year. The hawkish hawks are undermining the Russian president's all international resolutions as an answer to military decisiveness and an alliance with Turkey and Iran as the two influential players on the ground. And an understanding with Israel and even Jordan to be far from the position of the United States. He was disturbed by his misjudgment of the American retreat until he pulled out his counterpart Trump and suddenly announced a few days ago that he had decided to withdraw, leaving him and his partners burdened.

In fact, the Kremlin came to understandings reached last year with the White House, which decided to divide Syria areas of influence for the warlords in this country in order to stop the war and the separation of the belligerents with international control of the borders of these areas, pending the maturity of the political settlement. Thus, the "southern front" was based on an understanding with an American - Russian - Jordanian (and implicitly Israeli) that Turkey has its share in the north, Iran has its positions with the regime, and the "administration". But what happened next was that Moscow opened the path of Astana and decided to "reduce tension." Ankara, which had moved north of Syria to Afrin, apparently faced calls from its "partners" in these areas to hand over its area to the regime. Iran has called for the "liberation" of the east of the country and has advanced to the south. The Americans reacted harshly by striking troops to the regime's militias, allies and irregular Russian elements who advanced to positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces last February, causing dozens of casualties and hundreds of casualties. Israeli raids have doubled on sites that believe Iran and its allies have bases. These military operations were a sign of opposition to the role of Russia and its departure from previous understandings, especially with regard to Iranian expansion. The Sochi conference, despite its failure, came as a Russian insistence on exclusivity to settle. It came days before the Ankara summit to confirm this trend.

What Trump's management might seek from behind this storm is to stop all the tracks Moscow has taken away from other stakeholders. That is, the current confrontation is not aimed at the Syrian regime and its chemical program as much as it is aimed at the Russian policy as a whole, and perhaps put an end to President Putin's ambition to use Syria as a starting point for the entire region. The Kremlin master, accused by London of plotting the spy Scrippel and his daughter, ignites a "diplomatic war" with sarcasm and humiliation. His warning in the heat of tension did not yield to the warning that "the international situation is becoming more chaotic." He was disappointed that "the ultimate human understanding will ultimately be the supreme hand, and that international relations will move in a constructive direction." "Russia needs us to help push its economy, which is easy to do," he said.

The question today is whether the Trump administration is actually embarking on a policy of engagement as an alternative to retreat or early withdrawal, Trump said two weeks ago, a withdrawal that would lead to a departure from the entire Middle East? Everyone agrees that dozens of rockets that hit Shaarerat airport a year ago did not change or change anything. Does the military option push America and Russia to new understandings about Syria that deal with the future of the Assad regime and the Iranian presence hit by the shrapnel of the rocket strike at dawn on Saturday? Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned that the regime of President Assad and Assad would "disappear from the map and the world if the Iranians tried to strike Israel or its interests from Syrian territory." So far Russia does not seem to yield. But will respond to the challenge and «insult». But the equation is harsh and complex. Washington has not backed down and will not retreat. But renewed Moscow's call to stop supporting the Syrian regime and to return to its role in establishing peace and stability. That is, they call on them to change their behavior and policy. A path President Putin can not do. It is not easy to hand him over to reducing his country's role in Syria after all his efforts for more than two years. As it is not easy to go to a direct war with the Atlantic, who announced his support for the last strike ... Is the return to the Geneva base a single solution to the crisis of Syria, which Minister Matisse stressed his country's commitment to stop the war on the basis of decisions of the international community? Or continue the approach of resorting to the Soviet methods of back to respond by proxy to the insult? Where will the reply be? Does he involve his Iranian partner in raising the challenge? As it is not easy to go to a direct war with the Atlantic, who announced his support for the last strike ... Is the return to the Geneva base a single solution to the crisis of Syria, which Minister Matisse stressed his country's commitment to stop the war on the basis of decisions of the international community? Or continue the approach of resorting to the Soviet methods of back to respond by proxy to the insult? Where will the reply be? Does he involve his Iranian partner in raising the challenge? As it is not easy to go to a direct war with the Atlantic, who announced his support for the last strike ... Followers of the Sadrist movement condemn the beating of the Syrian regime ... and the coalition «National» calls for a government without Assad

15qpt960.5.jpgBaghdad, «Al-Quds Al-Arabi»: Thousands of followers of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada al-Sadr, on Sunday, in demonstrations in the Tahrir Square, the center of the capital Baghdad, and a number of other provinces «denounce» the American air strike French, Follow the Syrian regime.
According to local sources and eyewitnesses, the security forces began cutting off all roads and bridges leading to Tahrir square, in the center of the capital, before the start of the demonstration, and also impose strict security measures.
According to the sources, the demonstrators waved banners and chanted "triple bombing" against the Syrian regime, calling for a halt to what they called "violating the sovereignty of Syria" and "preserving the lives of civilians."
This comes in conjunction with the «concern» of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry of recent developments in Syria, which called in the statement of the international community to «intensify efforts to find political solutions to the Syrian crisis, and spare the region more tensions and focus work on the fight against terrorism, especially in the aftermath of its defeat in Iraq and decline in Syria".
"The position of Iraq that rejects the use of chemical weapons from any party and anywhere in the world, especially as the Iraqi people was a victim of the use of these weapons during the era of dictatorship."
The United States, for its part, briefed Iraq on the details of its military strikes on a number of military sites in Syria.
Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, received a telephone call from US Secretary of State John Sullivan. The two sides discussed bilateral relations and discussed recent developments in Syria. According to a ministry statement.
"The strike targeted three chemical weapons facilities and Washington was keen to avoid civilian casualties," Sullivan said.

Was, especially since he had suffered in previous periods of use of this type of weapons ». He added that "any escalation in Syria will negatively affect the security and stability of the region as a whole, and will give terrorism an opportunity to restore its activity after the defeat in Iraq and its decline in Syria," adding that "the threat of terrorism today threatens all countries of the world," recalling that the courage of peace More important than the courage of war.
At the end of the telephone call, the two sides discussed the importance of coordinating positions on issues related to security and stability in the region, based on the relations between the two countries.
The leader of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, also expressed concern over the bombing of the Syrian regime.
"This missile attack will not be the final, quick solution to the crisis of our brotherly Syrian people, which entered its eighth year amidst a tragic demographic situation in all Syrian regions, whether under the control of the opposition or the organization of the terrorist's advocate or even," said Mason al-Damluji, a spokeswoman for the coalition. Under the control of the Syrian government ». She stressed that «rely on the military confrontation, whether in land capture or shelling from afar will deepen the Syrian crisis and increase the wound of the brotherly Syrian people».
"The solution from our point of view is to adopt the solutions of the first Geneva conference, to move to an interim government that does not have Bashar Assad, and then to give the Syrian people the choice of electing a government that represents all the people and guarantees the unity of Syria and the safety of its great people."

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Thousands of Iraqis took to the streets in several cities on Sunday following a call by influential Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr to protest US-led airstrikes on Syria.

Demonstrations took place in Baghdad, Najaf, and Basra.

“Stop destroying Syria as you destroyed our country,” shouted protesters in Baghdad's Tahrir Square, in reference to the 2003 US operation in Iraq to overthrow Saddam Hussein’s authoritarian regime.

“No to America, no to the bombardment of Syria,” they chanted while raising Syria’s national flag.

In Baghdad, crowds set fire to US flags as they chanted against military action taken by the US, France, and the UK.

Sadr, whose militia forces fought US troops in the aftermath of the 2003 war in Iraq, joined protesters in Najaf city, where the cleric lives.

Both Sunni and Shia Arabs in Iraq have expressed animosity and anger toward the US over the past decades. The Shia community makes up the majority of Iraq’s population and is mostly aligned with Iran. Sunni Arabs, who are a minority despite ruling Iraq for a century, feel they were unjustly unseated by the US in 2003 and as a result, marginalized from the ruling class.

Almost a decade later, US troops withdrew from Iraq in 2011. They returned to the country in 2014 to help Iraqi forces and the Kurdish Peshmerga defeat the Islamic State (IS).

The US, who is leading the Global Coalition against IS, has been an essential backer of Iraqi forces in their efforts to eliminate the jihadist group and eventually declare victory over IS in Dec. 2017.

The Iraqi Federal Government on Saturday warned that US-led airstrikes on Syria were a “very dangerous” development that could push a resurgence of jihadist groups in the region.

From a source overseas that I heard from today.....According to Heshmat Alavi's sources, the US/Western military strikes against the Syrian regime a couple of days ago resulted in the killing of at least 15 Iranian military personnel, 40 Hezbollah fighters and 35 Syrian military personnel.
