The Baghdad International Book Fair (BIBF) kicked off on Thursday morning from March 29 to April 8 with the participation of more than 600 publishing houses and 250 Iraqi, Arab and foreign publishing houses. 

The Baghdad International Book Fair in its current session is one of the largest exhibitions of the book (Baghdad) since the establishment of its courses, that is from 1978 until now. 

The exhibition hosts from outside Iraq; the Algerian novelist Wassini Al-A'araj, the Kuwaiti novelist Saud Al-Sanousi; the Kuwaiti novelist Buthaina Al-Issa; and the Lebanese critic Alawiya Sobh. 

The exhibition began as an annual tradition in 1979, where the first session was held by the Iraqi Ministry of Culture and continued in the second session in 1983 and then the cycles of 1985 and 1987, and there were stops because of the situation experienced by Iraq.
