Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani recently warned about bids to break up Iraq, saying the partitioning of Arab countries serves the interests of Israel.

During a meeting with a U.S. delegation, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed interest in partitioning Iraq.

The Prime Minister told the group of 33 congressmen that he favored the establishment of an independent Kurdish state in the Arab country. Israel has a longstanding relationship with the Kurds, who remains one of its few non-Arab allies in the area.

The Jerusalem Post reported that a source who attended the meeting said Netanyahu referred to the Kurds as “brave, pro-Western people who share our values.”

Netanyahu previously spoke on the issue in 2014 when he said in a speech that Israel should “support the Kurdish aspiration for independence.”

Two months ago Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani warned about bids to break up Iraq, saying the partitioning of Arab countries serves the interests of Israel. "The Zionist regime seeks Iraq's disintegration,” Larijani accused during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in Tehran.

A report published in the New Yorker magazine in 2004 said Israeli military and intelligence operatives were active in Kurdish areas and providing training for commando units.

According to the report, Israel has been expanding its presence in Kurdistan and encouraging Kurds, its allies in the region, to create an independent state.

Prime Minister of Israel , of the US Congress to support the independence of the Kurdistan Region

Israeli Prime Minister informs US Congress of support for independence of Kurdistan Region

 Twilight News

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the US Congress that he supports the independence of the Kurdistan Region from Iraq, according to the Jerusalem Post.

"He supports the establishment of an independent Kurdish state in parts of Iraq," Netanyahu was quoted as saying during a meeting with a 33-member US Congress delegation last week.

The paper said that Netanyahu did not often address the Kurdish issue, which is considered "politically sensitive" because the traditional American position that US President Donald Trump is to keep Iraq a unified state is not divided into separate parts. Moreover, the Kurdish state is the line The Red Turkey, concerned that this development would raise the independence of Iraq's Kurds this issue among its Kurdish population.

Netanyahu has not spoken publicly about the issue since 2014 when he said during a speech in Tel Aviv that Israel should "support the Kurdish aspiration for independence," the journalist said.

The statement added that Netanyahu's remarks to members of Congress came during a survey of regional issues, amid increasing fears in Jerusalem that Iran is making tremendous progress in the region, especially in Syria, in addition to Iraq, Yemen and elsewhere.

Mossad chief Yossi Cohen addressed Israel's concerns over Iran during a cabinet briefing on Sunday.

"We are talking about Syria in the first place," Netanyahu said in a speech in Ashdod last night.

Netanyahu said Israel "strongly opposes the military build-up of Iran and Hezbollah in Syria and will do whatever is necessary to preserve Israel's security."

At a meeting on Monday with a delegation of 19 members of the Democratic Congress, Netanyahu said Iran had moved some 20,000 Shiite militia members to Syria.

According to government officials, the proportion of Iranian soldiers among these militias is about 12: 1.

These soldiers are part of Falik al-Quds, the external arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which is deployed in the battlefields of Syria and Iraq.

"Iran's expansion in the region through its agents in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen is currently the central development of the Middle East," Cohen told the cabinet.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Tuesday discussed with a delegation from the Kurdish region in northern Iraq the issue of the referendum scheduled for September 25.

Abadi received the delegation of the Supreme Committee supervising the referendum in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

Saadi Bira, a member of the delegation, told reporters that "Abadi was flexible during the meeting," pointing out that the people of the region "reached the conviction of the referendum on independence from Iraq."

"We expressed to our slaves our concern about the future of Iraq and our fear of war."

For years, meetings between the region and the successive governments in Baghdad have not resolved several outstanding issues, notably the management of the disputed areas, the mechanism of oil management and sale, and the salaries of the Peshmerga (Kurdish regional forces), and recently the problem of liberated areas in Mosul, To take over.

"He said that Abadi's response" was good, and reassured us of reaching a satisfactory outcome through the dialogue and the meeting was a source of hope. "

He pointed out that "Abadi said during the meeting that the Kurdish region has political and economic independence and has Peshmerga forces that do not fly the flag of Iraq."

For his part, said the Information Office of Abadi, "The Prime Minister called for resolving the outstanding issues in the dialogue."

The office said in a statement that "the meeting witnessed the appreciation of joint efforts between the federal government and the region in the battle to liberate Mosul and the importance of completing the liberation of all Iraqi territory from the gangs of terrorist Da'ash."

He added that "the meeting witnessed a frank and in-depth dialogue on the need to activate mechanisms to resolve the outstanding problems and a positive atmosphere."

He concluded that "it was agreed to continue constructive and serious dialogue to achieve the common interests of the Iraqi people and remove the accumulated historical concerns and concerns in order to preserve the unity of Iraq."

And the week ahead, decided the Supreme Committee overseeing the referendum planned in the Kurdish region to send a delegation to Baghdad to discuss the issue of holding a referendum with Iraqi officials.

The referendum, which is planned, is non-binding, in the sense that it revolves around a survey of the residents of the three provinces in the Kurdish region, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk, and other disputed areas, whether they wish to secede from Iraq or not.

Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution provides for a road map to settle the dispute over these areas, which begins with the removal of demographic changes by Saddam Hussein's regime, in those areas in favor of the Arabs at the expense of the Kurds and Turkmen.

The Iraqi government rejects the referendum, saying it does not comply with the constitution of Iraq, which was approved in 2005, and does not benefit the Kurds politically, economically and nationally.

Neighboring Turkey refuses to hold this referendum, saying that maintaining the territorial integrity of Iraq is linked to establishing security, peace and prosperity in the region.

On more than one occasion, the United States expressed its concern about the referendum, saying it would deviate from urgent priorities, such as a crushing defeat and stability for all Iraqis.

While the United Nations believes that the referendum should not be held if there is no common understanding between Baghdad and Erbil.

Parliamentary: referendum secession paper pressure on the central government to apply Article 140

Saad al-Mandalawi August 15, 2017

Baghdad - Journal News
The representative of the National Alliance Hilal Sahlani, said Tuesday, that the draft referendum on secession is almost a pressure paper on the region and the central government to implement Article 140.

"The Kurdish delegation is trying to persuade the central government to give up the draft referendum in areas outside the borders of Kurdistan, in exchange for guarantees and guarantees for the implementation of Article 140 of the disputed areas, including Kirkuk," Sahlani said in a statement.

He pointed out that "there is no explicit provision in the Iraqi constitution talking about the referendum and the right to self-determination, and neighboring countries oppose the referendum and independence of Kurdistan, and therefore the subject of the referendum is almost a pressure paper on the region and the central government."Noting that "Article 8 of the Electoral Commission in Kurdistan, requires the region to appoint polling station staff representatives of political entities contrary to international standards."

"If the Kurds insist on conducting the referendum, especially in the disputed areas, including Kirkuk, there will be an international, regional and local conflict," he said.

The delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government arrived yesterday afternoon to Baghdad to discuss the referendum on self-determination, scheduled to be held on the twenty-fifth of September.

Abadi discusses with a delegation from Erbil the question of "referendum"

1014350536

(ANADOL) - Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Tuesday discussed with a delegation from the Kurdish region in northern Iraq the "referendum" scheduled for September 25.

"We expressed our concern about the future of Iraq and our fear of war."

The meetings between the region and the successive governments in Baghdad have not been resolved for several years, notably the management of the disputed areas, the mechanism of oil management and sale, and the salaries of the Peshmerga (Kurdistan Region Forces), and the problem of liberated areas in Mosul Is supposed to take over control.

"He said that Abadi's response" was good and reassured us to reach a satisfactory outcome through dialogue (..) and the meeting was a source of hope.

The referendum, which is planned, is non-binding, in the sense that it revolves around a survey of the residents of the three provinces in the Kurdish region: Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk, and other disputed areas, whether they wish to secede from Iraq or not.

Neighboring Turkey refuses to hold this referendum, saying that preserving the territorial integrity of Iraq is linked to establishing security, peace and prosperity in the region.

On more than one occasion, the United States expressed its concern about the referendum, saying it would deviate from urgent priorities, such as defeating the "push" and stabilizing the country for all Iraqis.

While the United Nations believes that the referendum should not be held if there is no common understanding between Baghdad and Erbil.

Hakim receives the delegation of the Kurdistan Region

BAGHDAD - The

delegation of the Supreme Council for Referendum in the Kurdistan Region met Tuesday (August 15th, 2017) with the head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

He said the delegation of the network Roudao media to Baghdad, Sankar Abdul Rahman, that Hakim received today the delegation of the Kurdistan Region, and the meeting continues between the parties to discuss the question of the referendum scheduled for 25 September 2017.

He noted the importance of the meeting between the delegation and the President of the National Alliance, Ammar Hakim, because of the influence of the coalition in the political decision-making in parliament and the Iraqi government and the views of the masses on the Iraqi street, saying that the delegation aims in the fifth meeting in Baghdad to soften Hakim's position on the referendum after the offensive statements made recently.
