Yota Thanks,  DV,  I would like to see all countries cease all "Future Loans, Funding, etc" for both IRAQ & KRG until all issues have been resolved.   HCL & 140 voted and posted in Gazette.   Hold them accountable to bring the corrupt to justice now and demand all stolen money, property be returned before any more money is given to IRAQ & KRG.

Anti-corruption demonstrations continue in Sulaymaniyah for the second day in a rowKurdish demonstrations

Sulaymaniyah (AFP)

Demonstrations continued in four cities in the Kurdistan region of Iraq on Tuesday morning for the second day in a row to demand the removal of the government, fighting corruption and improving the economic situation.

Demonstrations broke out in the cities of Halabja, Rania and Kafri in Sulaymaniyah and Quesengq in the province of Erbil.

The protesters set fire to the town of Quesengk, under the dominance of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) led by late Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.

In the city center of Sulaymaniyah, the security forces succeeded in dispersing the demonstrators after firing shots in the air, and prevented them from gathering in Al-Saray Square, the site of the demonstration.

"This morning, demonstrators gathered in central Sulaymaniyah, but the security forces arrived and surrounded them and dispersed them," said Nizar Mohammad, one of the organizers of the demonstrations in Sulaymaniyah.

The security forces deployed heavily at the demonstration site, the main streets and near the headquarters of the main parties.

The demonstrators, who came out by the thousands, demand the dismissal of the government and the prosecution of the Fadisin.

In the town of Kufri, south of the city of Sulaymaniyah, demonstrators threw stones at the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) while security forces opened fire in the air to disperse them.

"You could not defend the disputed areas (and today) you can not manage the other half," said one demonstrator, a university youth in Kufri, referring to the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, which the federal government has regained control with elsewhere.

The Kurdish authorities, which controlled the oil wells in Kirkuk, lost about two-thirds of the quantities they exported unilaterally and without the approval of the Baghdad authorities, after the Iraqi army redeployed in the area on October 16.

And intensified opposition demonstrations in the region on the impact of political and economic crisis suffocating the people living because of the holding of the President of the region Massoud Barzani to hold a referendum on September 25 with the aim of independence from the rest of Iraq, prompting the central government to take punitive measures to uphold the unity of the country.

One of the most important punitive measures is the closure of airports in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah and forcing passengers to pass through Baghdad before heading to the region.

The demonstration falls Monday, as part of a series of demonstrations witnessed by the province to demand the entitlements of government employees and educational cadres in the region.

Employees in the territorial government have not received their salaries for three months, and the authorities in the region are paying the salaries of last September.
