Authorities in Kirkuk reach dozens of Kurdish families to evacuate their homes

 Twilight News

(Reuters) - A police force told them to evacuate their homes as "transgressors," residents in the Arafa oil district in the disputed Kirkuk province of Arbil and Baghdad said on Monday.

A police force, accompanied by North Oil Company employees, informed them yesterday of a decision by the judiciary and Acting Prime Minister Rakan Said al-Jubouri to evacuate their homes, residents said in a protest rally.

Residents say they have been living in the neighborhood since 2003 and have not been exposed. However, after the events of October 16, employees at the oil company began calling them "chauvinists" to drive Kurdish families out of the neighborhood.

Residents said they would not leave their homes at any cost, and would not respond to the new "Arabization" resolutions led by parties in the province.

It is noteworthy that Arafa "includes the headquarters of the North Oil Company, a mixed neighborhood inhabited by residents of the three components" Kurds, Turkmen and Arabs, "and includes about 200 houses of the first component in the province.
