yota691
Will start in January next .. Iran goal of "Arab NATO" Will be held in accordance with a security, economic and political agreement of 9 countries 29/09/2018 - 14:35 The Arab world is looking forward to the formation of a military alliance called "Arab NATO" along the lines of the international alliance known as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which is expected to launch during a summit hosted by the United States of America in January. Deputy Secretary of State for Arab Gulf Affairs, Tim Linderking, revealed the new features of the new Arab alliance and its long-term goals, indicating that it will include the GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain) Qatar and Oman), as well as the United States of America, Egypt and Jordan. The official said that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will host a meeting of the GCC + 2 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to prepare for the upcoming January summit. "The idea of the alliance stems from the Riyadh Summit of 2017, where it was agreed with the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council to meet annually, and in addition there was strong interest from both sides in the formation of the Middle East strategic alliance." He revealed that "the alliance will be based on a security, economic and political agreement linking the GCC countries, the United States, Egypt and Jordan." The concept of the Middle East Strategic Alliance was "to build a strong shield against threats in the Gulf, especially Iran, cyber attacks, infrastructure attacks and coordination of conflict management efforts from Syria to Yemen as part of its agenda," Landring said. He considered that increased coordination of efforts leads to enhancing the effectiveness of stability, noting that Iran is the "first threat" to the list of the coalition. He criticized Iran's role in Yemen and said: "Iran is getting away with actual killings. They are helping and inciting the Huthis to attack Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which is unacceptable to the United States. These are key allies, and their territorial integrity is the cornerstone of our policy. In the Gulf for decades. " "It is our duty to raise the cost to Iran, and part of our own strategy is to confront the Iranians who are moving in the theater of operations," he said. This is impunity. " Asked whether the countermeasures would include increasing the US naval presence near the Bab al-Mandab Strait and intercepting arms shipments, the US official said: "This is what we will see soon, and we will add to that to see what Iranians are already doing." Lenderking denied the claim that the United States was shrinking its defense commitment following a report in the Wall Street Journal that it was withdrawing missile defense systems from Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan to counter threats from China and Russia in other regions. "It is not a retreat in commitment but a transfer of resources." The US official expressed the hope that "the GCC countries will consider the priority of US relations before entering into problematic agreements with other countries," praising at the same time the improvement of Saudi-Iraqi relations, and the recent announcement that Germany and Saudi Arabia have restored their diplomatic relations in full , And considered it "wonderful".

yota691
«Arab NATO» .. Goals, intentions and questions?! Posted by فتحي خطاب Date: 12:42 PM, September 30 After US Assistant Secretary of State for Arab Gulf Affairs, Tim Linderking, spent the last three weeks carrying out regional delimitation missions in the Gulf to prepare for a summit to be hosted by the United States in January 2019 to launch the Middle East Strategic Alliance (MESA) or "Arab NATO" as some call it. Questions remain about American goals, intentions and interests, and about the reservations facing the "new alliance" under the umbrella of military and political economic security, with the participation of the Emirate of Qatar. Arabic version of NATO It is clear that the American arrangements are accelerating on this track, and the administration of US President Donald Trump, for a while, the establishment of a security alliance comprising six Gulf countries as well as Egypt and Jordan .. And the Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, meeting with foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council And Egypt and Jordan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, in preparation for the summit to be held in January .. The US minister, that «an alliance will be based on a security agreement, economic and political ties between the GCC countries in addition to the United States, Egypt and Jordan». US and Arab sources revealed last summer that the administration of US President Donald Trump began work on a project to form an Arab version of NATO from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Egypt and Jordan to counter the spread of Iranian influence in the Middle East, The Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid al-Jarallah said at the end of July that his country is considering US proposals to establish a strategic alliance in the Middle East in order to counter Iranian influence in the region. Pentagon sources told the Kuwaiti media that Kuwait's meeting of GCC, Egypt, Jordan and US Central Command chiefs on Wednesday could be a prelude to the formation of what is known as the Arab NATO. "It does not matter if we launch, The name of NATO is Arabic or otherwise, labels are the task of politicians, but the military, their mission to prepare for any emergency to defend their home ». According to military experts, there is no consensus among Arab countries on the approach towards Iran, while Qatar and Oman maintain normal relations with Iran .. While Qatar's Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani, to ignore the dispute between members of the Arab alliance, which intends "Respect for the sovereignty of states must be part of the policy of any alliance, so it must be based on clear foundations and a more atmosphere," Al-Thani told a news conference in New York last week. Positive, and the Gulf crisis a real test of the strategic alliance with the United States ». In the same context, the expert in the Russian Council for International Affairs, Antón Mardasov, believes that the United States is working to create an anti-Iranian front, and this idea is not new, and every time it collided with the incompatibility between the Arab countries, Stable, this initiative could help the United States and Iran's adversaries find solutions to current problems. Perhaps NATO is needed to achieve a short-term impact, by forcing Iran to renegotiate the nuclear deal or even to persuade Arab states to invest in eastern Syria, Is under militia control Kurdish backed by the United States. Dr. Hala Mustapha, a professor of political science at the American University, points to basic observations raised by the idea of "Arab NATO": First, the US administration's almost unilateral focus on Iran as a key supporter of recruiting, arming, and training terrorists without naming other countries that contribute to the same role or employing Sunni insurgent groups in proxy wars carries selectivity, Al-Sisi pointed out that "the confrontation can not be reduced to one theater of operations without another" and that certain countries provide the political cover for these groups (such as the Muslim Brotherhood, which the American side has never mentioned). Second, the success of any military alliance is closely linked to the political unity and compatibility between the ruling regimes so that they agree on a unified definition of national security and the sources of threats and challenges facing it, that is, a common vision precedes it. This is the initial experience of NATO, Suffice it to refer to the statements of the emir of Qatar, in which he defended Iran. Third, if the United States is the superpower that will support such an alliance, it is assumed that its positions and policies are in harmony with all its regional parties, a condition that is not yet in place. For example, Egypt considers that both Turkey and Qatar are pursuing policies against it, "Qatar's hosting of the US Central Command makes it a critical strategic partner," he said, as he praised Turkey's role in hosting the largest number of Syrian refugees. She added d. Hala said that there is the position of Russia, the international force active in the region, which quickly attacked the entire idea, and even considered it leading to more tension and war in the region, especially with the continuation of its alliance with Iran. It is no secret that the countries supposed to establish the new alliance does not stand at a distance One of them, in other words, is a lot of work before the Arab NATO idea becomes reality. For his part, said US Deputy Secretary of State, Landrking, that the goal of this alliance is "to address the Iranian aggression and terrorism and extremism and stability in the Middle East," noting that the new alliance will be an Arab version of NATO, "NATO" .. Although the position US President Trump in his dealings with European partners in NATO was inclined to confrontation, but US officials believe that the Arab alliance can be an inspiring model for a new formation in the region. Butifldrm
House passes bill preventing Trump from leaving NATO, tells allies to start pulling weight Published time: 23 Jan, 2019 08:11Edited time: 23 Jan, 2019 09:21 The US House of Representatives has passed a bill to prevent President Donald Trump from withdrawing the country from NATO, but called on European allies to pay their dues – just like Trump has demanded. The bipartisan NATO support Act was passed on Tuesday in a 357-22 vote that reiterated US commitment to the military bloc and included a provision that rejects any effort made by the president to withdraw from it, banning funding for such actions. “It’s crazy that we have to be introducing this bill. But it is, unfortunately, both necessary and urgent,”said Rep. Tom Malinowski, one of the Democratic co-sponsors of the bill. “I believe it’s necessary that I take the president of the United States seriously. President Trump has made no secret of his disdain for NATO and his willingness to consider leaving it.” On the campaign trail and during his presidency, Trump repeatedly criticized NATO, saying the organization allowed other members to take advantage of American generosity and enjoy protection it offers without sharing the burden. The US is by far the biggest contributor to the alliance in terms of finances and soldiers carrying out its missions. Among other NATO allies, few meet the benchmark two percent of GDP that they are required to spend on defense, which is a commitment that all members made. On many occasions, Trump demanded that this slight was addressed. The new bill makes the same demand, but Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who spearheaded the legislation, insists it is not like those made by the president. “What we have to realize is that NATO is not just a transactional relationship,” he said, adding that the focus “can’t just be on who pays what and who gets what. Being a member of NATO is not like being a member of a country club.” In their statements on the bill, several lawmakers stressed NATO’s role in defending Europe from ‘aggression by Russia.’ This perceived threat has been used to justify an increased military presence of NATO troops close to Russia’s border and regular exercises on a scale unseen since the Cold War. Russia is responding with additional deployments of troops in the west of the country and exercises of its own. NATO’s uncontrolled expansion eastwards, contrary to verbal assurances made to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, made Moscow increasingly suspicious of the West’s actions and caused it to spend a lot of resources modernizing its armed forces and boosting its nuclear deterrence over the past two decades. This policy is now cited as the reason why NATO is necessary. Retired US four-star general David Petraeus recently called it “the greatest gift” the bloc could receive. https://www.rt.com/usa/449475-house-bans-nato-withdrawal/ 1

yota691
Washington Institute: Unprecedented international interest in Iraq is linked to foreign military presence Continue - NRT WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Leaders of Western countries and diplomatic delegations to Iraq and "unprecedented" international attention are linked to the presence of foreign military forces, a report by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy said Saturday, noting that they were "not interested" in Iraq before 2014 and the return American and European forces to the country. The report, written by Michael Knights, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute who has worked in all of Iraq's provinces since 2003, stressed that the importance of the Western military presence in Iraq is linked to the interest of the nations of the world, which Iraq seeks to consolidate its political and economic relations. Gates said in his report that the Iraqi parliament may discuss a bill on the organization of foreign military forces in Iraq. What is most important is that Iraq clearly understands the implications that its words and actions can have on the international coalition against Da'ash, and what non-military benefits Iraq may lose, as well as the collapse of its military partnerships. He pointed out that Iraq has never enjoyed throughout history the levels of international attention and support it has enjoyed since the invasion of elements advocating some of its territory in June 2014. He pointed out that the international coalition for the defeat of Dahesh, which was collected by the United States, is a bloc of 79 members, including Iraq, 73 other countries and five international organizations: the League of Arab States, the Community of Sahelo-Saharan States, the European Union, Interpol and NATO. The coalition includes 12 G20 countries, 38 European countries as well as Turkey, 13 African countries, 10 Asian nations and nine Arab countries including Saudi Arabia and all other Gulf countries. The Joint Task Force - Solid Steel Operation is Iraq's main military partner in the war against Da'ash, a US-led military task force comprising 16 countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands, From Turkey, Jordan and Morocco. He pointed out that the unprecedented international focus on the survival, stability and prosperity of Iraq is not due to the kind of moment of recognition experienced by the leaders of the largest countries in the world, of which Iraq is a vital partner. Almost none of the current partners in the Joint Task Force in Iraq ever cared about Iraq between 2003 and 2011, when the country faced a terrible ordeal. He added that what led to this huge increase in global commitment is the actual deployment on the ground of Iraq to the military forces of a group of European countries and NATO countries under the "Joint Task Force - the process of solid torque", so that each of the contributors to the strength of the coalition - and still - Very interested in Iraq. Some of the major industrial powers such as Germany, Canada, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands have deployed their soldiers and soldiers in Iraq as symbols of strength. Prior to the Joint Task Force, neither the G-20 nor the subsequent 20 major economies cared for Iraq. After the establishment of the Joint Task Force, the majority of the Group of 20 and the European economies resolved to commit themselves to Iraq's survival, stability and prosperity. This is no accident. One simple way to demonstrate this activity was to enumerate all visits by Heads of State and Heads of Government and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense to Iraq in the two and a half years prior to the deployment of the Joint Task Force and visits in the years that followed. He said that the visit of Iraq to the leaders of the West requires a significant investment time, effort, expenditure and security planning. Therefore, these visits indicate a commitment to the future of Iraq. He added that most European countries and the countries of "NATO" did not think much in Iraq until the exposure of its soldiers in that country, and since the formation of the "Joint Task Force", they are largely committed to the future of Iraq. He pointed out that countries that had not joined the Joint Task Force and had not sent their troops to Iraq - including eight G-20 countries - had continued to treat that country as an insignificant priority. In the 54 months of a special poll after the fall of Mosul, the G-20 member countries outside the Joint Task Force made only three high-level visits to Iraq, compared with 84 similar visits by the JTF partner countries. Gates believes that Iraq needs the continued support of the Joint Task Force, and the Iraqi army is now much better than it was at the fall of Mosul, with a non-politicized leadership cadre. However, the Iraqi military and popular mobilization forces remain "ill-equipped" and lack the necessary human resources, training and equipment to get rid of the new rebellion of Da'ish in Nineveh, Kirkuk and Diyala. The United States provided most logistical support, intelligence assets, air assets and funds. The Joint Task Force mission in Iraq and the NATO training mission in Iraq would not be possible, both politically and logistically, without the United States. This means that the whole structure of the Joint Task Force - not just US forces - could collapse like a paper house and deprive Iraq of full support if the US presence becomes more controversial and provokes a decision to withdraw from the Oval Office. The report concluded that without the "Joint Task Force", Iraq would see a deterioration in its international relations and would return to a state of diplomatic and economic isolation if coalition forces were no longer "involved in the game." The military partnership of the Joint Task Force is the source of many new and fragile diplomatic relations for Iraq.
