A source close to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Monday that the international team investigating corruption files in Iraq, Abadi told the involvement of dozens of Iraqi officials to waste public money and stolen through the dollar auctions of the Central Bank of Iraq.

According to the source, “the investigations revealed that Iraq is wasting large amounts of money, sometimes amounting to one billion dollars per day, because of the difference between the dinar exchange rate between the auction and the black market.”

Remember that other thread today that outlines the "surprises " the Abadi administration has in store for those corrupt officials and businessmen if they don't stop their theft of the people's monies and return said monies NOW. This article is BS.... they don't even auction off a billion a day..... not to mention cbi reserves are at 40 something billion.... which means any given 40 day period they would be bankrupt... this is smoke and confusion to keep whale speculators at bay in my humble opinion

That's pretty much what I was thinking......Looks like a good excuse to stop the auctions and drop the milti-currency practice, etc.

Funds are stolen not only from the auctions but other CBI accounts.

CBI reserves are being drained at the tune of $1 Billion a day.

Iraq is broke & will continue stay broke & to rely on US grants & loans.

Hopefully Abadi and team can freeze all stolen cash in the international bank accounts and get the money back to the CBI reserves etc.... and I would hope that before this conference on Dec 2nd they would have a new international rate to show off in front of the world businesses, banks, and govts to let everyone know Iraq is back in business and will be the economic engine of the  Middle East

The idea of "a billion dollars a day" being stolen is kind of silly. The sources of these articles should be questioned closely, but since they are usually just listed as "sources" and cannot be questioned at all, there's a good chance they should just be ignored OR taken with a bucket of salt.

Well what I am trying to figure out is that by one person the 800#s are already out there but no one seems to know where they are or who has them. I know one person that saids that he has the 800 # but I have not seen it yet nor has he provided it which usually means that he does not have it, he much like all the other people that make claims nothing he has ever said has ever come about.

We again are told that everything is fine and everything is almost ready to go. Some said by Thanksgiving well Thanksgiving is tomorrow as we all know. But they day is not done yet.

Some are saying this weekend but I am not holding my breath. Then some say by December 2nd.

Article:  "Tigris channel reveal details of the World Bank negotiations with Iraq on the corruption of the currency auction"    My take on this...the IMF is warning Iraq that if you continue to let the reserves erode you will risk the collapse of the economy. More importantly it once again confirms the plan to float the dinar.   ...we don’t want a managed float or a peg...we want the global financial system to set the rate. And that only happens with a free float. Iraq needs to create momentum, then they can let it go and watch it rise.
