Well...that was encouraging.....NOT!  Corruption is king and looks like Abadi is in bed with Maliki.....not feeling the warm fuzzies.

In my opinion, if an international tribunal, such as the ICC, is going to pick up Nouri al-Maliki anyway, it doesn't affect Abadi negatively by having amicable relations at some level with Nouri al-Maliki. End of day, it is the ICC taking the necessary action while Abadi was seeking to do the best he can for the progress and unity of the country limited to only those relations with Nouri al-Maliki to that end. I have not seen where Abadi is openly supporting Nouri al-Maliki for his past actions or excusing Nouri al-Maliki at all. If Nouri al-Maliki is picked up by the ICC, then the supporters of Nouri al-Maliki may then support Abadi since Abadi was not acrimonious to the point of total alienation.

Just my opinion, thoughts and :twocents:

This is the recent article that made me think there is more than just the appearance of co-existence between Abadi and Maliki...seeking a continued Iranian influence in Iraq?

Thank You for the article, DinarDavo, AND The Best Of Your Weekend To You!!! :tiphat:

I saw that article earlier and it could be as stated. With Nouri al-Maliki's past and Sadr openly calling for justice while supporting Abadi, I suspect Abadi is attempting to play his options to strengthen his position further should Nouri al-Maliki be removed.

This is an election period so all kinds of crazy things could be put in the news.

I agree, ChuckFinley, AND The Best Of Your Weekend To You!!! :tiphat:

I am amazed that Nouri al-Maliki has not been indicted, taken into custody, and prosecuted as of now. The only thing I can think of is he is being let to play out a little more to be further tried on charges. Somehow, the money he and his cohorts funneled out of Iraq would have had to show up on some electronic trail with the multiple national securities skilled in detecting that type of corrupt activity especially with the sums of money no matter how finely divided up into different transfers and accounts.

Maybe more action on prosecuting the corrupt after the May 12 elections.

A Saudi newspaper revealed on Monday Jordan's position on the extradition of Raghad Saddam Hussein, the son of the late Iraqi president, after it was listed among lists of 60 wanted Iraqi security.

Okaz newspaper quoted a senior Jordanian source as saying that his government had not received from its Iraqi counterpart or INTERPOL any memorandum to hand over Raghd Saddam Hussein to Baghdad, after it was included in lists of 60 wanted for Iraqi security.

She referred to the statements made by Jordanian Parliament Speaker Atef Al-Tarawneh, in which he said that the daughter of former Iraqi President Raghad Saddam Hussein is being held in Jordan. He stressed that if proven support for terrorism will not be covered by the Jordanian government.

Al-Tarawneh said that Jordan is free from any Iraqi leadership, pointing out that Raghad is "hired and hosted in the Kingdom does not violate Jordanian law."

He added that "it did not depart from what is permitted under Jordanian law, and did not engage in any political activity that harms Iraq from Jordanian territory."

Two months ago, the Iraqi government released a list of 60 wanted individuals accused of belonging to Daqash, al-Qaeda and the Baath party, including Raghad Saddam Hussein, who was surprised to include her name on the wanted lists and said she would sue anyone who "wrongly" abused her.
