Thank You for posting this and all the other great articles, Butifldrm! I think this piece here from what you highlighted is a key piece of information.

I may be mistaken but I am thinking Haider al-Abadi is Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. Fuad Masum is the President of the Republic so I am not sure Fuad Masum is responsible for addressing the Kurdistan referendum according to the Iraqi Constitution. Looks like there is some semblance of utilizing the faculties of the Iraqi Constitution. I may be stretching it here.

All in all, I think this Kurdistan Referendum is a big storm of sorts. The ensuing days will likely be more telling with regard to the implications of the vote. The actual succession of Kurdistan, if it ever got underway, would take likely years so the referendum outcome is potentially indicative yet not imminent. Iraq and many regional and foreign national countries are adamantly opposed to a separate Kurdish state so I think Iraq will continue to be united. This may result in measures to further eliminate corruption and accelerate the elimination of corruption in Kurdistan and Iraq proper. I am hoping the news articles bring more news in this respect.

I plan on giving it a week to see where this all falls out and what the future plans are going forward. Unfortunately, just have to wait it out.

What ever is happening, ole Nouri al-Maliki is sure squealin'. Pretty sure this indicates ole Nouri al-Maliki is well aware of how precarious his situation is and he understands he will face justice for his Crimes Against Humanity. Obviously no love lost with Barzani, Abadi, Sadr, and a host of people in Iraq. I suspect the circumstances will line up to process Maliki. I would like to see that sooner, like today, but there may be mechanics from the referendum to put in motion the indictment of Maliki with his prosecution and execution.

Just my opinion and two cents. For some reason, the icons are not available right now.

Go Moola Nova!
