Iraqi forces prepare to begin the liberation of Hawija

Baghdad Baraa al - Shammari

1 September 2017

Iraqi forces are preparing to launch a large-scale military operation to liberate the town of Hawija in the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk, while Iraqi aircraft has issued thousands of publications confirming the imminent launch of the military operation.

An Iraqi defense officer said Friday that the joint forces formed a new operations command called "Hawija", in preparation for launching the liberation of the town from the control of theorganization "Daash" terrorist , stressing that the Iraqi army forces and the federal police and counter-terrorism and rapid response and The tribes will participate in the battle with the support of the International Alliance aircraft.

The officer expected, in an interview with the "New Arab", to see Hawija a difficult battle because of the concentration of leaders and elements, "Dahesh", as well as contain large numbers of civilians, who were not allowed to organize "Da'ach" to go out.

In parallel with the military preparations for the battle, the Iraqi airliner delivered thousands of leaflets last night and this morning, confirming the imminent launch of the military operation over the town of Hawija.

"The people of Hawija, to every authentic Iraqi in this country, will start your armed forces to attack the people in your areas after you have achieved the victories, liberated Nineveh, came to your salvation, and determined to accomplish its tasks. As soon as possible, and to spare you any side effects to be with and close to them to get help in a timely manner, stay away from any gathering of elements (calling) because they will be targets for our pilots, and we will inform you safe corridors that we will allocate to you later.

The Iraqi War Information Cell reported on Thursday that the target of the next Iraqi forces will be in Hawija, pointing to the announcement of the launch of a new military operation called "coming to Ya Hawija".

Hawija (south-west of Kirkuk) is one of four Iraqi towns still in the hands of the terrorist organization Da'ash, as well as the towns of Qaim, Aana and Rawa (west of Anbar).

The Da'ash organization took control of Hawija after it entered Mosul and other Iraqi cities in mid-2014, and the organization committed murder and disappearance of hundreds of civilians who tried to flee the town during the last period.

In addition, Britain announced its intention to send additional military forces to Iraq to help eliminate the urge to protect the liberated areas of his grip.

New Plan for Hawija Assault Needed: Peshmerga Official

New Plan for Hawija Assault Needed: Peshmerga Official

KIRKUK — A Peshmerga official calls for a new plan for liberating Hawija district, southern Kirkuk, from the Islamic State (IS).

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Peshmerga, Major General Qaraman Sheikh Kamal, told BasNews that different forces are ready to take part in Hawija assault, including Iraqi and Peshmerga troops along with the US-led Coalition against IS.

The task of each force and the scope of their military operations needs to be determined before the operation begins, he said.

The Peshmerga official noted that the plan to liberate Hawija was made during the Mosul assault, but a new plan is required due to the changes that have taken place in the fight against IS in the country.

The Iraqi army and Peshmerga forces will take part in the operation, said the official, adding that the Hashd al-Shaabi militia forces won’t likely be engaged in the fight.

With taking control of Hawija, IS will no longer be able to pose threats to Kirkuk and its southern districts such as Tuz Khurmatu and Daquq, said the Kurdish official.

ERBIL — Two successive blasts hit on Sunday the northern Iraqi town of Hawija which is the last pocket held by Islamic State (IS).

According to local sources from Kirkuk, one of the explosions targeted an IS convoy and has reportedly left dozens of jihadists killed or injured.

The source from Kirkuk told the Iraqi media that the IS militants are now on alarm to prepare for any possible attack.

Baghdad said on Sunday that thousands of Iraqi federal police forces have been deployed to the suburbs of Hawija as part of the preparations to recapture the city.

Also, Iraqi fighter jets dropped the same day tens of thousands of leaflets over Hawija, urging civilians to stay indoors as the Iraqi army will attack the IS positions in the nearest future.
