He explained that the second phase of the national project is concerned with the "development of FTTH networks with a capacity of four million subscribers covering all governorates of Iraq and the postal transport project in partnership with the private sector for the transfer of mail with the latest information technology and a secure and reliable data exchange mechanism, "He said.

For his part, Séleyman "invited the Minister of Communications to attend and participate in the conference to be held at the US Embassy with a delegation representing the American Chamber of Commerce next month," noting that "there is a desire and interest from the American side to invest in Baghdad."

The new national Internet project promises to create a sophisticated national digital platform, based on a large-capacity optical fiber network, enabling Iraq to connect a secure government network, which in turn establishes an effective e-government. The project also aims to make the Internet accessible to all Iraqis at high speeds As well as connecting the world digitally through Iraq through the transfer of international capacities (transit).

The head of the national project for the Internet, Ammar Khalaf, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that the first cabins of light out of the 2.4 thousand cabins distributed across the provinces of Iraq were installed with columns in the area of Zayouna; to feed 2.05 thousand homes in the region Internet service.

Khalaf added that it will contribute to the rapid improvement of services to citizens, and other advantages compared to the service provided to them during previous periods.

He explained that the Zayouna area is the region (zero), which will be pilot to broadcast the new service and start to connect all areas of Baghdad and beyond provinces.

He pointed out the director of the national project for Internet in Iraq, that the owners of towers and contractors currently with companies will be the priority in the contract with the national project for the Internet and investment in it.

He stressed that prices will be suitable for citizens than they are now.

He attributed the reasons for the current fluctuation of Internet service in Iraq to the impact of the main cable environment environment and its ongoing, pointing out that the national project will provide 4 tracks to overcome the holidays if found as well as multiple services.

The ministry attributed the reasons also to "using old techniques such as Wi-Fi to provide service to citizens and are currently being addressed by the ministry's new direction to activate and introduce modern technologies such as FTTH and LET, which have not been worked out seriously before."
The ministry said that "the ministry has carried out large campaigns in cooperation with several bodies such as the Information and Communications Authority and the National Security Service. These campaigns have eliminated many smuggling operations and confiscated many of the equipment, cables and cables used in these operations."

The Middle East countries have an opportunity to build a digital economy that transforms them into a commercial service center and advanced connectivity and communication activities, a report by the World Bank said on Thursday, calling for the importance of making Iraq a hub for international connectivity in the broadband and telecommunications markets.

"The region needs to invest $ 4 to $ 5.2 billion to enable 30 percent of the population to have high-speed broadband access," the bank said in a report entitled "Mashreq 2.0: Digital Transformation for Total Growth and Job Creation" Fiber Optic Technology ".

"The delivery of Internet to more than 13 million families in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Iraq needs to integrate the broadband networks in the region, including basic, terrestrial and marine networks," the report said.

"Jordan and Lebanon are pioneering examples of fixed and mobile broadband services in the region, while Syria is experiencing challenges because networks are affected by existing conflicts," the report said.

He added that "Syria and Iraq need to remove barriers to operators in the market and stimulate the markets of telecommunications and broadband Internet, and despite the existence of a broad infrastructure of regional networks and basic, but not exploited optimally because of war and instability, as well as the dominance of state-owned enterprises The report said that Internet exchange points and data centers are less developed in the region. There is only one data exchange center in Beirut, while there is no center in Iraq, Syria or Jordan. "

In Iraq, the report called for the removal of restrictions on private operators to build, own and operate fiber-optic infrastructure, to allow companies to reach the end-user, and to introduce telecommunications legislation that promotes competition and private sector participation, International broadband services market.

The report recommended to the Lebanese authorities the need to develop a unified vision for the ICT sector, improve financial transparency of the sector, introduce competition through a common legal framework, study the structure of the broadband sector and grant licenses for the fifth generation.

The World Bank called on Jordan to prepare a draft study on the fifth generation networks and grant frequencies to operators, and apply the next generation of public-private partnership, strengthen the regulatory framework and review fees and taxes to stimulate investment and ensure appropriate regulatory control.

The infrastructure of broadband telecommunications services is helping to boost economic growth, as increasing the penetration rate of broadband services by 10 percent leads to an additional 1.4 percent increase in GDP. "
