Iraq is preparing to announce the construction of a new civilian international airport in the northern city of Mosul, an Iraqi government official said on Tuesday.

Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation, said that the Mosul International Airport, which was in place, was severely damaged by the control of a previously advocated organization.

Iraq will build a new civilian airport in Mosul as a result of the massive damage to its airport 5 kilometers south of the city, which has made it very difficult to repair.

The airport was destroyed during the control of Dahesh on Mosul in 2014, and also during the crushing war launched by Iraqi forces to restore the city in 2016, and lasted 10 months.

He explained that Hindawi, "Nineveh province has tourist and religious qualifications, in addition to it is a border province, which requires the presence of an international airport commensurate with the importance of the city."

"The project to build a new international airport in the city of Mosul, will be through investment, and will be announced later."

Iraq has four civilian airports, the largest Baghdad International Airport, followed by Basra airport, Najaf and Mosul, while the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, two airports are Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.

Iraq has a modern fleet of passenger aircraft consisting of 32 Boeing and Bombardo, which were recently imported under contracts signed in recent years as part of a plan to revitalize Iraqi Airways.

An endless stream of committees, forums, discussion panels, confirmations that confirm this or that, in the near future (s), coming days, just around the corners, SOONS and the flapping of the gums and chinwagging, so much said and still not done.

By some strength of a miracle, the population has not ( as of yet ), resorted to anarchy.

Morning to you, 10 years, from the snowy cold north. I know you miss it. I keep wondering the same myself. They don't resort to anarchy (probably) because most are on the government payroll or getting their pockets lined. And they won't get anything but promises until they can quit wandering around with open hands, and start doing something themselves. For every single story on what they 'plan' to do, there are 10 stories on corruption, graft, missing money ($300+ BILLION) since Maliki took over. That's a lot of power stations, hotels, apartments, houses, roads, airports.....JOBS. Frustrating to watch from the outside. Like this...…………………….
