The new aid package will provide opportunities to utilize the UK and international expertise to help Baghdad carry out vital reforms that will make the country more business friendly, the statement noted.

The £32.9 million (US $43.3 million) aid will also “help unlock Iraq’s economic potential, generate jobs, boost potential for enhanced future trade with the UK and other international partners and lay the ground-work for long-term peace and stability following the conflict with” the Islamic State, it added.

“The UK is a strong partner and friend of Iraq,” Burt said. “We share a range of mutual and growing priorities which include security, development, foreign policy, and trade.”

“The UK remains committed to supporting Iraq to develop along non-sectarian lines, and we are particularly concerned about the rights and freedoms afforded to Christians and other minority faith groups.”

Since 2014, the UK has provided £252.5 million ($332.4 million) in humanitarian support and over £110 million ($144.8 million) in stabilization funds to the people of Iraq.

The governor of Nineveh province on Monday announced the start of the reconstruction of the banks on the right side to restore banking services, while the official project rehabilitation of the College of Imam Saad Taha, direct construction of the sections of the College within a period of not more than 120 days. 

A source in the council told Al-Sabah that "Al-Faw Engineering Company, in cooperation with engineering elite from the service departments within the province, started the reconstruction of the destroyed banks as part of a plan to restore the banking service again after these banks are out of service during the control of the organization calling the terrorist." 

He added that "these engineering staffs began to build the Iraqi Central Bank in Ayman Mosul, as well as branches of the banks of Rashid and Rafidain and Umm al-Rubaiein inside Mosul with an indefinite completion time." 

On the other hand, announced the official project rehabilitation of the College of Imam Saad Taha, direct construction of the sections of the College within a period of not more than 120 days. 

Taha told Al-Sabah: "The engineering staff started the reconstruction of the College of Imam Al-Azham to rehabilitate the departments of the College after the bombing of most of its sections by criminal gangs."

He added that "the completion of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the college was limited to a period of not more than 120 days with the construction of the entire sections and the presidency of the College."

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen said today that the Secretariat is working to organize the reconstruction conference in Iraq, through consultation with the Iraqi government and the rest of the Member States, to take the necessary preparations and mobilize the necessary financial resources.

This came during the launch of the 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States under the theme "50 Years of Islamic Cooperation: The Roadmap for Prosperity and Development" in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi today.

The construction of 1400 destroyed houses in Sinjar

Ninewa Governor Nawfal al-Aakoub announced on Sunday the reconstruction of 1,400 destroyed houses in Sinjar district, west of Mosul, while the engineering and technical staff of the municipal and municipal administrations began rebuilding the largest sugar factory on the right side.
