This conference will facilitate face-to-face discussions with key decision makers, Iraqi ministers and delegations ready to share their vision and the opportunities that exist in the Iraq market across all the major sectors

Oil Minister: Iraq has the right to fit its production with reserves

Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar Luaibi said during the event in London on Monday that his country has the right to reach its production of oil to a level commensurate with its reserves of crude.

Iraq's second-largest oil producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) after Saudi Arabia.

It agreed OPEC members and other producers from outside the organization led by Russia last year to cut production 1.8 million barrels per day to reduce the glut of crude inventories and support prices.

Under the agreement, Iraq agreed to reduce production by 210 thousand barrels per day.

Iraq's production reached 4.4 million barrels per day in June, representing a reduction of 170 thousand barrels per day, according to a monthly survey conducted by Reuters for the production of OPEC.

Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar Luaibi said he will wait for the result of the next meeting of the committee of OPEC before announcing its position on whether the organization needs to reduce the largest production. The statement came in response to a question Allaibi whether the organization needs to cut greater than 1.8 million barrels per day agreed upon with 11 of its partners.

He told reporters "there is no movement at the moment and things seem to be fine and in the right direction. I think the prices will rise again, but let's see the result of the meeting."

It is scheduled to meet oil ministers from the five countries monitor the implementation of production cut plus Saudi Arabia as head of OPEC agreement in Russia in the twenty-fourth of July. He Jumaili, during the conference, that "the next phase (post-liberation phase and the end of Daesh in Iraq) will see the economic and investment trends and wide within the framework of reconstruction and development process for the liberated areas by focusing on the development of the business environment of the private sector and encourage investment and the fight against poverty and economic reform."

He stressed that "the ministry in cooperation with national and international partners identified the development paths that are consistent and global trends to achieve the goals of sustainable development until the year 2030, and the work is going on in full swing to prepare a five-year National Development Plan (2018-2022)."

He added Jumaili, according to the statement, that "the ministry has prepared a detailed plan for the reconstruction of the liberated areas for the period 2017-2027 based on the recovery of these areas Aaguetsadia and socially through the attention and focus on vulnerable groups and youth empowerment and promotion of basic abilities, as well as the adoption of the principle of the employment crisis and invest as opportunities of development to bring about the changes and better results. "

He pointed out that "the reconstruction plan will be linked Bouktta first national development next two years (2018-2022) and the second (2023-2027) to ensure their implementation and to provide the necessary funds for the completion of infrastructure projects and the achievement of economic, human and social development."

The statement pointed out, that "Planning Minister spoke at the conference on economic trends towards strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors and participatory with external parties and the government's plans for the settlement of government contracts and investment and to attract money domestic and foreign capital.

10 to 15 yrs before anything substantial is constructed.  No mention of cost estimates but hundreds of billions minimum to make a dent.  If money is poured into reconstruction what will be available for an RV?  Iraq is currently unable to pay their bills even with 4.4million barrels a day.  They will need immense foreign infusions of capital to dig their way out of their poverty situation.  Good luck to them.

Getting in Early is Key to Success in Iraq, Conference told

More than 300 delegates attended a major Iraqi business event in London on Monday and Tuesday.

The Iraq Conference for Trade and Investment (ICTI) was intended to highlight Iraq’s openness for business as it rebuilds its infrastructure and institutions, and it facilitated face-to-face discussions with key decision makers, Iraqi and British ministers, and business people and investors from all the major sectors.

Opening the event, H.E. Dr. Salih Husain Ali Al-Tamimi, Iraq’s Ambassador to the UK, said:

“There could be no better time to hold this conference … Security is no longer an acceptable excuse for the reluctance of British companies to enter the Iraqi market.“

Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, added:

“Iraq is open [to investment] from all countries of the world.”

Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, MP, emphasised the importance of acting quickly:

“Now is the right time to invest in Iraq. Getting in early is the key to success.”

Speakers included Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, the British Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Iraq and President of the Iraq Britain Business Council (IBBC); Dr. Sami Al-Araji, Chairman of Iraq’s National Investment Commission (NIC); and Jabar Al-Luaibi, Iraqi Minster of Oil; while the keynote speech was delivered by UK’s Minister for Trade and Investment, Greg Hands.

Not much in the way of "shiney" there in Iraq. As a matter of fact, as long as Maliki is still plotting with Iran to get rid of Abadi, security is not exactly sewd up there... imho
