Follow-up of Mawazine News

Turkmen protesters in the province of Kirkuk, began a hunger strike, in the framework of protests against the results of the parliamentary elections that took place in the country last Saturday, they say that "manipulation" occurred.

Turkomen and Arabs protest the results of the ballot, saying they "rigged" the results in Erbil, Kirkuk and the rest of the disputed areas.

"Fifty young men have decided to start a hunger strike to death," said Murad Turkman, president of the Turkmen Youth and Student Union (TUI). "They are determined to vote manually by hand; there is fraud and manipulation."

"The aim of the strike is to show the truth about the rigging of the election results and to emphasize the disappointment of those who seek to steal the will of the Turkmen," Turkman said.

"The results of the elections came without our expectations, despite the participation of hundreds of thousands of Turkmen in Kirkuk, and we are waiting for support from the central government to sort out the votes manually, as well as the support of the United Nations and international organizations."

It should be noted that the Independent Electoral Commission of the country, will announce the final results of the elections on Friday, and then entitled to objecting to the opposition to submit their appeals.

Earlier in the day, the United Nations, in a statement, called on the Commission to investigate complaints of "fraud" that had marred parliamentary elections.

For its part, said the Iraqi government, in a statement, it "directed the Independent High Electoral Commission to deal with a clear transparency with the appeals on the results of the elections, and conduct the audit seriously in accordance with the law."

On Saturday, the Iraqi parliament is due to hold a hearing for UNHCR officials on allegations of fraud and manipulation of results.

The official results showed the victory of the alliance, "Saroon", which is supported by the opposition politician Moqtada al-Sadr, ranked first, followed by the coalition, "open" led by Hadi Amiri, and then coalition, "victory", led by Prime Minister Haider Abadi, in third place.

This is the first elections in Iraq after the defeat of the organization "Da'ash" terrorist, the end of 2017, and the second since the US withdrawal from the Arab country, in 2011. Ended 29 / h

He pointed out that the Prime Minister, General Commander of the Armed Forces, Dr. Haider Al-Abbadi, immediately investigated the threats. In the light of this, the two defendants (Na'ama Al-Moussawi and Saeed Hameen Amin Al-Qaqai) were contacted to confirm that they were threatened. To the threat, where we told Mr. Muhammed Nima al-Moussawi by calling him on 17/5/2018 that there is no threat, but there is a media campaign in one of the satellite channels, and stressed that the local security forces provide him with adequate protection.

As for Mr. Saeed Hamid Alkakai was also contacted on 17/5/2018 and he also stressed the absence of any threat to him or his family.
