Security deployment and curfew in Mosul on the eve of the elections
(Baghdad: Al Furat News) Security forces deployed intensively in the city of Mosul on the eve of the elections of the Council of Representatives scheduled for Saturday in all governorates of Iraq.
Security sources said that "deployment as a precautionary measure to protect the electoral process from any attempt to target." 
"The security forces will impose a ban on the movement of vehicles throughout Mosul from 12 midnight on Friday and until 12 midnight on Saturday," it said. 
The government did not impose any curfew during the special voting process for the security forces yesterday and did not announce its intention to impose the ban so far

A curfew was imposed in Najaf
(Baghdad: Al-Furat News) The Directorate of the province of Najaf announced the issuance of recommendations by the Supreme Security Committee for elections in the province include the imposition of a curfew.
"The Supreme Security Committee for Elections ordered the closure of the entrances and exits of the province and the prevention of movement and the imposition of a total ban on all wheels, motorcycles, air and machinery within the province, districts and districts except for the wheels authorized by the Supreme Security Committee for the elections," the statement said, . 
"The ban starts from Friday (May 11th) at 12 pm until Saturday (May 12th) at 12 pm and any wheels from polling stations are strictly forbidden," he said.

Iraqi Prime Minister lifts curfew, keeping him in places that are only threatened by security

 
 

 

 

 
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Saturday ordered security chiefs to impose a partial curfew to patrol only security-threatened areas, lifting the curfew on all provinces. 

The security committee for the elections imposed a curfew in many provinces and cities starting from midnight on Friday and continued until seven in the morning in several cities. 

The Iraqis began Saturday morning to vote for their representatives in a legislative election that has been completed, according to the Electoral Commission. It is the first parliamentary elections in Iraq since the defeat of the "Daash" organization, where authorities have mobilized about 900 thousand police and army to secure the polling stations.

Iraq's 24.5 million voters have been invited to elect a new parliament whose main task is to ensure the reconstruction of a country ravaged by three years of war against terrorists. Polling stations close at 16:00 GMT. 

The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced the preparation of a security plan to protect voters and polling stations in all governorates.

The commander of the armed forces, Haider Abadi, on Saturday, lifting the ban on the movement of the wheels in all provinces, and authorized the commanders of operations to impose a partial ban in the sectors that have a security threat, according to the assessment of the security and intelligence services. 

Abadi's office said that 'the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces directed lifting the ban on the movement of the wheels in all provinces'.
