Good evening tiger, I do agree with you here. An article posted today that Abadi needs 3 more months, I tend to disagree. I think they are days away and the ping pong affect of these conflicting articles are in full swing. ;)

The rangers couldn't  train them, the marines couldn't train them, the army couldnt train them, and these guys are going to make a difference? I hope so? not taking anything away from any, of them, the problem is Iraq wants somebody else to do the dying for them??????????????? if they really cared? the Iraq's would have taken care of the problem long ago? and there would not be a problem? ,isant it interesting that the Iraq's  have to have all these different types of military train them, if you  look at this it is almost a proxy world war, the Iraq's have gotten all most everybody involved in there mess only to either die for them, or train them,or loan money to them and they still cant do anything , think about this for a moment , In war you go to win, not ***** foot around, if it were other wise, we would be still fighting  world war 11,!!!!!!    The only thing keeping this whole war going is the money mongers, they are sucking the very life blood out of this country, Sadly by the time the Iraq'st figure it out? those who really care about there country, the money mongers will own it all. The big question is who are we going to have to fight after iss is defeated???????? and on and on it goes. How sad, how very sad.

As battles go on, Iraq's Mosul turns into new Hiroshima

April 27 2017 10:59 PM
Mosul battle has killed and wounded thousands
Mosul battle has killed and wounded thousands

More than seven months have now passed since an offensive was launched to oust ISIS from Iraq's Mosul. But the battle that intended to liberate the country's second largest city has turned it into a new Hiroshima.

When the battle started in October 2016, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi declared that "the goal is to restore the Iraqi human being before the land". The results attained so far show the opposite.

Mosul's civilian casualties exceeded expectations, and destruction has hit about 80% of the city's infrastructure. Entire residential neighborhoods have been devastated.

Human Rights Watch said in a report issued today that as of April 19th, civilian casualties in the city of Mosul since the start of operations have been estimated at more than 30 thousand martyrs and wounded; four thousands of them are still under the rubble or missing.

Image1_420172723216327811138.png

Official sources, who spoke to The Baghdad Post on anonymity, confirmed that the Iraqi government has never revealed the accurate figures of civilian deaths that they described as "frightening".

The sources confirmed that the number of those killed was 16.000 civilians in Mosul and the towns of Bartala, Hamdaniya, Hammam al-Ailel, Baheshika, Qayara, Tall Tafef and Taqif as well as Tal Afar. Among the deaths were about 9.000 children and women.

Image1_420172723254987856065.png

The number of those wounded was put at 18.000-19.000 thousand.

The sources said that the majority of the victims of the martyrs were killed by airstrikes and missile attacks, mostly by IMIS militia.

These figures were confirmed by Peter Mario, a young German physician, who works as a volunteer in a joint team of Iraqi, European and Turkish doctors to help civilians in southern Mosul.

Mario told The Baghdad Post, that the number is close to the terrible reality in the city. "After the end of the battles, people will search for their neighbors and relatives, they will discover what really happened in Mosul," he added.

Speaking at a press conference, Head of the Parliament's Human Rights Committee, Abdel Rahim Al-Shammari, said, "The humanitarian situation in Mosul is so worse that it can't be described in words".

Al-Shammari added that what has not been destroyed in the fighting was stolen. "Even the water stations were robbed. I believe that this theft was not obtained by ordinary citizens but by security authorities," he said.

Al-Shammari called on the security forces to pay further attention to the lives and property of the people.

Image1_42017272342864264529.png

MP for Nineveh Jamila al-Obeidi, has called on Prime Minister and the United Nations Mission in Baghdad to "urgently help the people trapped in the neighborhoods of the rest of the right bank of Mosul".

All this death and destruction was caused by the corruption of the elite politicians who handed Mosul over to ISIS in 2014

Analysts mostly blame former PM Nuri al-Maliki for giving Mosul to ISIS "while attempting to satisfy his allies in Iran.

As ISIS loses ground, more and more foreign terrorists are surrendering

As ISIS loses ground, more and more foreign fighters are surrendering

Foreign fighters are leaving the ISIS terrorist group in droves, with many surrendering to or being caught by Turkish border police over the last few weeks, the Guardian reported on Thursday.

People who sympathized with the terrorist group are also fleeing, as ISIS loses ground in its stronghold of Raqqa, Syria.

Last week, Kary Paul Kleman, a 46-year-old from Florida, and Stefan Aristidou of London surrendered at the Kilis crossing, accompanied by Aristidou's British wife, Kleman's Syrian wife, and two Egyptian women whose husbands were killed in battle.

Aristidou claimed he traveled to Syria two years ago not to fight but to live, later admitting he was in Raqqa. Kleman's mother said after he got a divorce, he converted to Islam and moved to Egypt in 2011.

He married and divorced an Egyptian woman, then moved to Dubai and married a Syrian woman. His family said he went to Syria in 2015 to help with humanitarian efforts.

The United States estimates that up to 30,000 foreign fighters have likely crossed into Syria to fight with ISIS, and as many as 25,000 have been killed.

Turkish and European officials have said their embassies are being contacted by ISIS terrorists who have joined in recent years and are asking to return home, The Guardian reports.

While many foreigners are ready to leave ISIS, there are others more committed than ever; western intelligence officials believe that at least 250 ISIS terrorists over the last two years have been smuggled over the Turkish border and are now in Europe.

Few parts in the city are now under the control of ISIS. And they are about to be liberated, the sources further noted.

Nineveh provincial council member Hossam al-Abar said that the Old City of Mosul and the Grand Mosque of Nuri were the starting point of the self-styled caliphate of the terrorists, and the security forces will annihilate the terrorists at the same areas.

Few neighborhoods are remaining in the hands of ISIS, including the districts of al-Maqbara, al-Senaat, and al-Tahrir which is adjacent to 17th of July neighborhood and Street 60 completely encircled by the army's 9th division, he added.

The official yet indicated that if the Old City of Mosul is fully liberated, the whole city will be declared free, for this area is vital for the progress of the ongoing military operation.

Also, security expert Ahmed al-Sherifi asserted that the situation is indicative of a near end of the ongoing offensive as the operation to liberate al-Hadar neighborhood is preclude to liberating Tal-Afar which paves the way for declaring the city free of the terrorists within few days.

The expert cited the visit of the parliament speaker Selim al-Jabouri on Wednesday to the right bank of the city, saying it asserts the political presence ahead of declaring victory.

The Iraqi forces, aided by the US-led coalition, have been pushing against ISIS terrorists in the right bank of Mosul since February 19th.

Iraqi PM to Declared Mosul Fully Liberated in Few Days: Report

SOFIA — The northern Iraqi city of Mosul will be declared "fully liberated" from the so-called Islamic State (IS) next Saturday, a source close to the Prime Minister of Iraq Haider al-Abadi said on Thursday.

According to the source the Iraqi flag will be raised in the entire of Mosul and the last bullet will be fired by the Prime Minister himself on Saturday as the forces expect to retake the last few areas of the city from the IS militants in the next two days, The Baghdad Post reported.

Hossem al-Abar, a member of the Nineveh Province Council said that the Old City of Mosul and the Grand Mosque of Nuri were the birth place of the self-proclaimed Islamic "caliphate" and the Iraqi forces will defeat the extremist group at the same areas.

Abar explained that only few neighborhoods in the city are remaining under IS-control among which are the districts of al-Maqbara, al-Senaat, and al-Tahrir, but some of those areas have already been encircled by the Iraqi army. However, he said that if the Old City is recaptured then the entire city will be declared liberated, as the area is vital for the progress of the ongoing military operation.

In addition, security expert Ahmed al-Sherifi said that the end of the ongoing offensive against IS in Iraq is to be reached in the nearest future, as the forces are currently aiming to liberate the neighborhood of al-Hadar, after which Tal Afar will be liberated and the city will be declared fully liberated in a few days.

The Iraqi government backed by the US-led coalition launched an operation for liberating the city if Mosul in October last year with the support of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the government-backed Shi'ite militia Hashd al-Shaabi. By the beginning of 2017, the forces managed to fully liberated the entire eastern part of the city, which then allowed them to focus on the next phase of the operation aiming to recapture the remaining western and central parts of Mosul.
