Opening a new passport-issuing office in the Kurdistan region
(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan region, Riber Ahmed, announced on Tuesday the opening of an office to issue passports in the Zakho district of the Dohuk governorate.
Ahmed said in a press conference held in Zakho in the presence of Governor Farhad Atruchi and representative of the Ministry of Interior, "It is a pleasure for me to announce today the opening of an office for issuing passports in Zakho after the completion of all work related to this aspect."
He added that the opening of this office falls within the policy of the regional government and the recommendations of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in working to provide the necessary services to citizens.
The Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan region decided since the beginning of the formation of the government to open three new offices in the governorates of Erbil and Dohuk to issue passports, and a special committee has been formed for this purpose.
According to an official letter issued by the ministry, it decided to open three passport-issuing offices in the Soran, Zakho and Aqra districts.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed that it granted two million and 570,000 passports to citizens in all regions of the country, while the General Passports Directorate opened nine offices to issue passports in several governorates. The Director of Public Passports in the Ministry, Brigadier Ahmed Abdel-Sattar Abdel-Razzaq said in a special statement he made to “Al-Sabah”: that his department, and within its plan to open new offices for granting passports in cities where large numbers of citizens live in order to prevent crowds from there, has managed to Nine new offices opened in a number of northern and southern governorates.
He added that the offices that were opened for this purpose included the offices of Al-Shatra, Souk Al-Shuyukh and Al-Rifai in Dhi Qar, in addition to the offices of Halabja and Rania in the Sulaymaniyah governorate, and the offices of Zakho and Jalila in the governorate of Duhok, while the eighth office was opened in Arbil, in addition to opening an office Samarra passports in Salah al-Din Governorate.
