This is all well and good.  I truly do hope that this money is used as it is intended for.  But we have seen this movie and the multiple sequels way to many times.  $300 million loan with $299,999,999 pilfered by numerous politicians which means $1 goes to the actual purpose.  Again I do truly hope that all $300 million goes to what is supposed to go for.

Side note.  If they would RV would there actually be this many people still living in poverty??  Yes that is a rhetorical question.  We need look no farther than our own back yard here in the US.

Rush Limbaugh is fond of saying (paraphrasing)  more money equates to more expensive essential items and more expensive toys which leads to the same old problems everyone has - no money and lots of bills to pay.

using the usd as the main currency in country just hurts the people. the USD is controlled by the US central bank not the iraqi central bank; therefore they technically don't have a monetary policy.

as an importer of almost all their good. keeping the value of the IQD low just Hurts the people. The Government gets payed in USD from the sales of oil.

they keep running on status quo, eventually they will have to change or be forced to. would just love to see something with it. the isx drops every email i get.

kindly disagree, purchasing power of currency does make a difference for the citizens. I'm in canada. any tech i need from the states costs me 30% more due to the minimized purchasing power of our currency. however we have an international currency that is recognized. iraq does not.

PPP: The Alternative to Market Exchange Rates. Using PPPs is the alternative to using market exchange rates. The actual purchasing power of any currency is the quantity of that currency needed to buy a specified unit of a good or a basket of common goods and services

https://www.investopedia.com/updates/purchasing-power-parity-ppp/

Macroeconomic analysis relies on several different metrics to compare economic productivity and standards of living between countries and across time. One popular metric is purchasing power parity (PPP).

Purchasing power parity (PPP) is an economic theory that compares different countries' currencies through a "basket of goods" approach. According to this concept, two currencies are in equilibrium or at par when a basket of goods (taking into account the exchange rate) is priced the same in both countries. Closely related to PPP is the law of one price (LOP), which is an economic theory that predicts that after accounting for differences in interest rates and exchange rates, the cost of something in country X should be the same as that in country Y in real terms.

Your PPP is lower to ours because of this>>>

BREAKING DOWN Reserve Currency

Holding a reserve currency minimizes exchange rate risk, as the purchasing nation will not have to exchange its currency for the current reserve currency in order to make the purchase. Since 1944, the U.S. dollar has been the primary reserve currency used by other countries. As a result, foreign nations closely monitored the monetary policy of the United States in order to ensure that the value of their reserves is not adversely affected by inflation.
