Iraqi Airways or "Green Bird" is preparing to return to the European airspace soon after the completion of safety procedures.

The director of the company Samer Kubba , a press statement that a delegation of the International Civil Aviation Authority [IATA], will visit Baghdad on Wednesday, Iraq to complete the accession process of the International Organization of flying again. 
He said that " the company will meet all the demands of the global civil aviation authority related to safety , " expected that "the lifting of the ban on Iraqi Airways during the next two months." 
Kubba said that " the company is working to rehabilitate 40 pilot and promoted to the rank of a qualified pilot, bringing the number of pilots and assistants to more than 200". 
He added that the company implements the development plan include the graduation of a new generation of flight attendants and increase the number of flights. " 
The Minister of Transport Kazem Cup, revealed the first Sunday, a plan to transform the Iraqi Airways, to a holding company and the establishment of another company counterpart to it.

It just occured to me that Iraq is already looking (has already been looking) beyond the battles with ISIS and the securing of Iraqi territory. As evidenced by this agreement to allow foreign airline companies and Iraqi airline companies to expand their flight routes into, and over, Iraq. A country must be able to guarantee National and International airlines  a certain amount of  internal security and stability to allow such things to occur. Also look to the settlement of the Saddam Invasion files with Kuwait, and Abadi's recent economic tour of the ME.The next 4 days and 2 months should be interesting. Especially if Iraq officially announces the end of its battle over ISIS, as it now transitions (hopefully seamlessly) from a wartime nation/economy to a stable and secure internationally engaging sovereign nation.

The ISIS held and previously held ISIS areas are nominally 40% of Iraq while major centers like Baghdad, Basra, and Erbil were not under ISIS control. So, business and development have been progressing in these areas. Hopefully, the Port of Fau will be developed very soon and the infrastructure improvements and expansions from there to the northern part of Iraq will occur rapidly. When the Strategic Framework Agreement with the US and Reconstruction Funds kick in, the Iraqi transformation will then be on nitro - in my opinion.

 

As others here on the DV forums have noted, the time period from the start of Eid al-Fitr through the end of June could be very telling for how this speculative investment will shape up for timing and direction. I agree the next two to three weeks should be very telling. At the very least, if this goes out that far, the emergency government (if installed nominally September 21, 2017) could accelerate terrorist removal and get the remaining issues (like HCL) in place

 

To me, on the one hand having ISIS removed from all the major urban areas could be sufficient for demonstrating ISIS is no longer a significant issue in Iraq while on the other hand ISIS could be a significant drain due to military action of resources and threat of negatively impacting economic development if not totally removed from Iraq. My opinion is overall the GOI needs to show it is effective in addressing key issues pertaining to Iraq on its own. Having significant areas of impoverishment due to ISIS, etc. to me will not show an effective GOI and could lead to the development of elements to overthrow the GOI. So, time is of the essence for the GOI to make major strides in improvement for the Iraqis.

A new Boeing 737-800 aircraft has arrived at Baghdad airport in preparation for joining the Iraqi Airways fleet, the Ministry of Transport said Wednesday.

"A Boeing 737-800 aircraft arrived just a short time ago at Baghdad International Airport, coming from a Boeing plant in Seattle," the ministry's media office said in a statement received by Mawazine News.

He added that "Iraqi pilots have recently accepted the airlines are the pilots," adding that "this aircraft entered the work to be added to the fleet of Iraqi Airways."

He added that "the second plane will arrive in the country during the month of August next."

Transport Minister Kazem Vajan al-Hamami announced on Monday the launch of an air flight between Baghdad and Kiev.
“We have shortened the time and intensified our efforts to open this line,” Al-Hammami said. “It is important considering the size of the Iraqi community there, as well as the dimensions of the arrival of airlines to Europe In lifting the ban on the green bird. ”
Al-Hamami pointed out that “the ministry is working on the opening of several airlines with the world to increase the continuity of the Iraqi traveler with the outside,” adding that “this line will contribute to the completion of strategic projects in Iraq, especially in the city of Mosul.”

A source familiar with the matter said Sunday that the US Aviation Administration and its associated companies are returning to Iraqi airspace after the announcement of victory.
“The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reduced the flight warning to 26,000 feet after the announcement of victory and the end of military operations in Iraq,” the source said.
“The reduction of the warning will allow US aircraft, US-registered aircraft and other airline aircraft with them to resume flights in the Iraqi airspace again,” the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
On Saturday, December 9, 2017, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of all of Iraq, while maintaining the unity of Iraq and its people was considered “the most important and the greatest achievement”.
