Jordan reveals the date of implementation of the pipeline project with Iraq

On April 2, 2017, the Iraqi government approved the construction of the Basra-Aqaba-Jordan oil pipeline project at a cost of about $ 5.6 billion. 
On February 5, the Jordanian cabinet approved the project. 
The investor will bear the cost of extending the pipeline, where the investor will recover its costs through the wage to be paid by the Iraqi government. 
The completion of the pipeline project between the two countries is 25 years.
It is planned to export one million barrels per day of Iraqi crude to Jordan, including 150 thousand barrels to operate the refinery. 
The pipeline will extend to the port of Aqaba, the distance to the oil heading west towards Europe and North Africa, and will avoid traffic from the Gulf Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, to the Arabian Sea and then the Strait of Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea, to the Suez Canal.

He added that the Iraqi Council of Ministers "agreed to include 399 Jordanian products with customs exemptions out of 792, based on the recommendations of the Iraqi-Jordanian committee to follow up the implementation of the free trade agreement between the two countries."

Al-Sudani stressed that the Joint Committee held several meetings during which 792 Jordanian products were presented, reviewed and studied for inclusion in the reduction of customs duties. The committee raised its recommendations to the Iraqi Council of Ministers. The recommendations excluded a number of products on the list of customs exemptions, The local product, some of which have been proven not to be produced in Jordan mainly or the mismatch of the quantity installed in the lists with the design capacities of the plants when visited by joint committees. "

 He explained that the Committee, according to its recommendations, "excluded 393 Jordanian products from the reduction, and agreed to 399, and that the Iraqi Council of Ministers approved the recommendations of the Committee in this regard, and has been ordered to the General Authority of Customs of Iraq to implement the recommendations, and we are currently following procedures with customs to implement the guidance of the Council Ministers on customs exemptions and exemptions on Jordanian goods and products ".
