The White House announced that the Prime Minister Haider al - Abadi will visit Washington and meet with President Donald Trump in the 19th of the current month of March.

Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi is set to visit the United States and meet with President Donald Trump in Washington this month, the White House says.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer made the announcement during a regular news briefing on Tuesday, saying that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit next week and “the following week, the president will welcome the prime minister of Iraq.” The spokesman did not provide any further details.

The meeting comes as tensions between Washington and Baghdad have escalated since the new US president introduced a travel ban on Iraqis visiting the United States. The measure, however, was frozen after Trump revised the ban and excluded Iraq from the original list following the country’s cooperation with the US in the fight against the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.

The exemption was hailed by the Iraqi government and described as an “important step” that boosts bilateral relations.

Announced the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, on Thursday, for a forthcoming meeting between Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the end of this March in Jordan.

He said committee member Abbas al-Bayati said in a statement that "the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will head the Iraqi delegation to the Arab summit later this month in Jordan," noting that "Abadi will meet with a number of kings and princes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and the Arab states."

He added that "Abadi, Iraq will deliver a speech at the Arab summit," adding that "Abadi meet Bl Arabia, Jordan, Emir of Kuwait, in addition to the heads of Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia."

Al-Bayati said that "those Alqaouat actually planned and there will be further meetings to discuss terrorism and drain its resources and the prosecution file."

Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz and Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi will meet on the fringe of the Arab Summit, set for late March in Jordan, said Member of the Foreign Relations Committee at the Iraqi parliament Abbas al-Bayati announced Thursday.

The Iraqi lawmaker also said the Iraqi premier will meet during his participation in the Arab summit with a number of Arab kings and heads of state from Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

He pointed out that the upcoming Arab Summit would provide a chance for Iraqi to affirm its ability on liberating its territories and restoring security and stability to most of the areas recaptured from ISIS.

The Iraqi official also noted that Arab countries should bear their responsibities to reconstruct Iraq, prevent any infiltration by terrorists as well as dry out the roots of terrorism which has devastated the country.
