Twilight News / assured the US ambassador in Iraq, Douglas Silliman, on Sunday, the government in Baghdad that the new US administration headed by Donald Trump will stick to the strategic framework agreement between the two countries.

Silliman said in remarks to reporters from Saffar headquarters in Baghdad, said that "the strategic agreement between the United States and Iraq will remain active through the window and the new US administration."

The US ambassador stressed that his country will work on activating the rest of the aspects of the Convention and not only the security aspect.

Iraq has signed the United States Strategic Framework Agreement in 2008 paved the way for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq at the end of 2011 after eight years of invasion and the toppling of Saddam Hussein's regime.

It regulates relations of the two countries at all levels, particularly the military, economic, educational, cultural and others.
