Well, OK, Basra Light Crude Oil may be BABY the MOST expensive crude oil the Bicraqi Iraqis have BUT raking IN the DOUGH nonetheless!!!

Does ANYBODY ELSE find it ODD that the WTI crude oil futures are oscillating TIGHTLY around $56/barrel the past month THAT is the EXACT same basis for the 2019 Bicraqi Iraqi Budget???!!!

Not at all 10.......  $56.00  is the current "trading range" for the futures contacts of the WTI (West Texas Intermediate). The  current "trading range" for Brent futures (North Sea Brent) is in the $65.00 area. They move up a bit and down a bit depending upon current market / political conditions.

Synopsis lays it out clearly in his above postings.

IMHO - WTI and Brent are easy, simplistic  market barometers and not an 100 % accurate reference to the price of oil world wide.

The USD $$$ is a similar illustration compared to the Euro and British Pound. The Euro/USD is the $1.13 current "trading range" and the British pound/USD in the $1.30 current "trading range". Again the pricing  moves up a bit and down a bit depending upon current market / political conditions.

Regarding  your question related to the connection to the price of oil / oil futures contracts and the Bicraqi (1) budget , I have asked the question and wondered numerous times about Adams oil price reference to the $65.00 / $70.00 pricing.

Only the Bicraqi Iraqi (1) know how the $56.00 per barrel number was / is used in the 2019 budget calculation. In the 2018 budget $46.00 per barrel was used.

In addition, please remember that the "Cost Basis" for the Bicraqi Iraqi (1) to pump a barrel of crude is less than $20.00.

Personally, I have always thought the Bicraqi (1) budget reference to the oil markets was tied to the Brent futures market ($65.00) due to the geographic proximity  and economic ties to London. If so, then the budget is $10.00 per barrel market positive.
