ISIS Fighters Spotted Escaping Mosul Disguised in Women's Clothing

Cowardly ISIS fighters dressed in women's clothes are fleeing Mosul while the group's commanders have ordered their wives and girlfriends to escape before the city is encircled.

Their desperate last-ditch orders come as Kurdish forces and elite Iraqi counter-terror troops began a lightning advance on the city.

Pictures shared online show two men, purported to be enemy fighters, being paraded before liberating troops while wearing dresses.

It has also emerged leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi -- who is rumoured to be holed up inside the besieged city -- has ordered the "women of the caliphate" to leave.

Leading US generals and French president Francois Hollande say ISIS fighters are fleeing -- and must be blocked from regrouping in nearby Raqqa.

Major General Gary Volesky, who heads the anti-ISIS coalition's land component, said: "We are telling Daesh (ISIS) that their leaders are abandoning them. We've seen a movement out of Mosul."

He said many foreigners among the 3,000 to 4,500 ISIS fighters would likely end up forming the core of the holdout jihadist force.

Volesky noted that the Iraqis would screen anyone leaving Mosul, and attempts by foreign fighters to blend in to an expected exodus of displaced people would be thwarted.

"It's difficult for them to blend into the local population based on the number of different types of foreign fighters that there are."

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Thursday the offensive in Mosul was progressing more quickly than originally planned.

His comments come as Kurdish peshmerga announced a three-pronged assault to the north and east of the city, while elite Iraqi special forces moved in from the south.

He said: "The forces are pushing towards the town more quickly than we thought and more quickly than we had programmed in our campaign plan."

The addition of the elite troops, also known as counter terrorism forces, marks a significant intensification of the fight for Iraq's second-largest city.

As they advanced, attack helicopters fired on the militants and heavy gunfire echoed across the plains.

Hope my Marine buddies don't mind a civilian saying "OOORAH 10 years."  The Peshmerga forces did leave a small opening for them to retreat through. If it were up to me I would allow him and his forces to leave. Provided they all wore a military uniform and or an orange arm band, signifying they are retreating forces. They may take cars, personnel trucks/carriers, BUT NO WEAPONS AT ALL. NO GUNS, NO MISSILES, NO CHEMICAL WEAPONS, NO TANKS, and NO MONEY.  That way it will be easier for the Russians and Syrian forces to mow them down once all are in Syrian territory. The Russians and Syrians just cannot shoot anyone not wearing a military uniform or an orange arm band. Shoot any 6 foot tall Burka types walking around.

The Peshmerga and Iraqi forces best follow those retreating, and then build a militarized border with a full complement of special weapons and tactics to repel anyone that gets within 1 mile of said border.

This is great bleeping news.

It occured to me if Iraq expels from Iraq, or kills, ISIS forces ahead of time then Mr Abadi can tap into the synergy, arrest Maliki and minons, place them on trial, convict them for treason ( of one form or another), seize their domestic and foreign bank accounts and properties, and shoot them with all the extra ammo they may have. Can I get 2 thumbs up for that. Oh, yeah and then get the rest of your reforms passed, published, and implemented.

Iraqi Forces Tighten Noose 'Quickly' on ISIS' Last Stronghold

Posted 2016-10-20 18:55 GMT

NEAR MOSUL, Iraq -- CBS News correspondent Holly Williams is with Kurdish forces Thursday morning about 12 miles north of Iraq's second largest city Mosul, where the Kurds have launched a new attack on the ISIS militants holding the vast city and many villages surrounding it.

The Kurdish forces are trying to recapture 27 villages north of Mosul, which would put them within five miles of the city itself.

Williams watched as the Kurds hammered two villages in ISIS territory, close to their defensive line, with artillery on Thursday.

She also watched as two ISIS drones approached in the air. They were small, and it's not clear whether they were armed, but the Kurdish troops shot them down quickly. Earlier this month, two Kurdish fighters were killed by an ISIS drone loaded with explosives.

Meanwhile, elite Iraqi special forces troops moved into position Thursday to the east of Mosul. They're fighting to recapture several Christian towns and villages along the main road into the city. The special forces managed to enter the ancient Christian enclave of Bartella after a clashes with militants and several suicide truck bombs.

On Wednesday, an Iraqi officer bragged to CBS News that they would be inside Mosul within a matter of hours -- a much faster approach to the city where there are thought to be less than 5,000 ISIS militants still holding out.

Even Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi was optimistic Thursday, telling a diplomats gathered in Paris to discuss his country's crisis that the offensive was going "more quickly than we thought."

"Our forces have started to move forward to free this city which was taken by IS over two years ago. The fighting forces are currently pushing forward toward the town more quickly than we thought, and more quickly certainly than we established in our plan of campaign," Al-Abadi told the attendees via video link.

Williams says the reality, however, is that it's very slow going as the Iraqi troops and Kurdish forces clear these towns and villages, even though most of their residents fled a long time ago.

Imagine then, notes Williams, how much more difficult it will be to be retake Mosul itself -- a densely packed city where about 1 million residents are still thought to be living, used by ISIS as human shields.

I hope they throw some bacon grease on their faces before their executions. Show no mercy.

In the Philipines when fighting Islamic forces they dipped their bullets in fat from a pig. The Islamic forces knew if they were shot and killed with one of these bullets they would never reach the land of milk and honey.

Let loose a live pig within a mosque, makes that mosque useless for many many years. It is the non-violent solution to remove a mosque where it is not needed. Wonder what would happen if pigs and black dogs were let loose on the streets of Mosul?

On that note, just finished a pork belly sandwich from Arby's because "where'd everyone go?" They went to Arbys!

SO Many Positive Waves with this Advance -

Holly Williams/CBS News has about 15 years as a Foreign Correspondent and she's been in some hot spots, however, she unfortunately found herself the butt of Laughter when she yelped and dropped to all fours amidst Iraqi troops upon hearing a loud explosion ( in the distance ) outside of Mosul the other day. Some Iraqi troops began taking pics as they were laughing telling her to get up. Granted, Safety/Caution for the entire reporting crew is wise. Nobody wants to wake up Dead the next morning before they've had their First Cup of Joe.

Although she has a good resume`, I don't think she's qualified to accurately assess the "speed" or as she puts it " the reality " & "slow going" of the Iraqi advance. Few people today understand or appreciate the dynamics and complexities of a Military Campaign of this size. You are advancing constantly thru the outlying areas moving ever deeper into the enemy "stronghold".

Better she stick to reporting and not inject " Her opinion " into this. Discretion would be the better approach taken by ALL reporters in this Theatre of Operations. The Fog of War in this Campaign will be thick & bloody.

Once they enter Mosul, it will be a very bloody affair I expect. ISIS ( how many troops do they really have? ), will probably fight a Rear Guard action, delaying as long as they can, the Iraq/Kurd advance, allowing as many other fighters (in their dresses) to evacuate  the city. If the city has been properly enveloped and ALL roads out blocked, the Iraqis anticipate not many ISIS fighters will escape the encirclement. It's a lot of ground to cover and most likely, there will be gaps in the lines.

Funneling your enemies escape to a pre-determined point(s) outside the city to annihilate/capture will be key.

Fingers crossed Gang - The integrity of the Iraqi/Kurd forces is riding on this. KILL'EM ALL BOYS :salute:
