Trump Apologizes for Vulgar Comments About Women Recorded in 2005

Donald Trump late Friday apologized for crude comments he made about women in 2005, saying in a video posted online that "I said it, I was wrong and I apologize."

The comments recorded on a hot mic sparked a firestorm of criticism from fellow Republicans. "I've never said I'm a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I'm not," Trump said.

"I've said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade old video are one of them," Trump said in the video statement.

"Anyone who knows me knows these words don't reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong and I apologize," he said.

Sources told NBC News earlier that various advisers and senior campaign officials argued to the candidate that Trump should go beyond his initial written statement in an effort to more clearly apologize for his words in advance of Sunday's debate.

An interview or phone call to a program was also considered but the brevity and control of a planned message became the chosen option. It was decided that Trump should be the "sole messenger" and that a video could be "exactly as he wanted."

The 2005 recording shows Trump talking about groping and kissing women — "When you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything," he said, adding "Grab 'em by the p***y." He went on to describe trying to seduce a married woman.

The comments, recorded by a hot mic on an "Access Hollywood" bus, sparked sharp criticism from fellow Republicans when audio was published Friday. Billy Bush, who was then host of "Access Hollywood," was a party to Trump's comments at the time.

Now with the TODAY show, Bush apologized in a statement Friday night.

"Obviously I'm embarrassed and ashamed. It's no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I'm very sorry," Bush said in the statement.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement: "No woman should ever be described in these terms or talked about in this manner. Ever."

Trump repeated some campaign talking points in the video he released, and said "I pledge to be a better man tomorrow, and will never ever let you down."

"Let's be honest, we're living in the real world. This is nothing more than a distraction from the important issues we're facing today," Trump said.

He then repeated an earlier written statement that pointed to Bill Clinton's scandals, and said Hillarious Clinton "has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims."

House Speaker Paul Ryan said he was "sickened" by Trump's comments on women, and announced the nominee would no longer attend a high-profile scheduled event with Ryan and Priebus in Wisconsin on Saturday.

U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah, withdrew his endorsement for Trump Friday. "I'm out," Chaffetz told CNN.

Yeah, millions of liberal women had to put down their copy of 50 Shades of Grey to complain on the internet about how Trump talked about some women.

Millions of liberal men had to pause PornHub to complain on the internet about how Trump treats women.

The old guard still hasn't figured out that liberals are NOT our country's religious order that gets to define rules and shame people who break them.

Stop trying to appease liberals!

Even if Jesus Christ himself ran they'd find a reason why you're not a true Christian if you vote for him.

:wub:Ain't that the truth, and it says a whole lot more than anyone is willing to admit:wub:

It's the shock and awe factor that the media and public figures love when not directed at them. It gets people angry and apparently that's the news they look for. Natural disasters, terrorist attacks, everything and anything causing racial unrest whether justified or not, character assassination, etc. etc.. Put it out for opinion and worry.
This election is a circus and it's not only exposing the candidates for who they might be. It's exposing what this country has become by our 'career' Congress's mismanagement.
Whether to set Term Limits should be up for a vote by the People this November as well.

Repeated on another thread:

What a boatload of :bs:

Hollywood pumps 50 shades of crap out movies with nothing but guns and killing, democrats ignore the lying, murder,  Benghazi etc etc, the media ignores the major indiscretions over the years of Roosevelt, Kennedy, Bill Clinton (at least Trump knows what a cigar is for), and now the media and dems want to be a moral compass? And some of the jackass repubs want to do the same thing. Ridiculous, none of them are worthy to be anyone's morality police.

What the Donald did/said is stupid, but I'll still take him over that witch.

I was asked, how I could ever support Trump after the comments he made over 11 years ago about women and if I would still support him if he made those comments to my daughter? My response was this....If he had put our nations security at risk, I would not vote for him. If his organization received large donations from countries that killed women and gays, I would not vote for him. If he boasted 30 Years of government experience, but still could not discern if an email was classified or not, without someone letting him know if it was or not, I would not vote for him. If he boasted about how he has defended children his entire life, but is for abortion, (even late term, when the child can feel pain) I would not vote for him. If he wanted my 3 year old Granddaughter to go to restrooms with men dressed as women, I would not vote for him. I have taught my daughter and will teach my granddaughter to disregard sexist remarks and move on, especially when they were made so many years ago and, also to forgive those who say they are sorry. If he caused lives to be destroyed in Benghazi and then lied to the faces of the parents as they stood at their child's casket, I would not vote for him. If people who came against him mysteriously turned up dead, I would not vote for him. If he suddenly developed a southern accent when he was in the South, campaigning, I would not vote for him. If he continually broke the law and that was ignored, I would not vote for him, but right now, the only person who does all these things is Hillarious. Right now, the fact that Donald made these remarks over 12 years ago, does not move me. I'm bigger than those remarks and we all have said stupid things throughout our lives. To me, the fact that Hillarious lies continuously, is a much bigger problem. We can see the effects of her lies by the state of our poor country right now... Rant over... Still voting for Trump.

Maybe, because the question is ridiculous, manufactured, and disingenuous.  Why would he make such comments to anyone's daughter?  When has he?  That would be the same as accusing me, or you, or any other man of talking to a woman in an overtly sensual, or sexual way... UNSOLICITED.  And what if then... when it is solicited... by a woman, or a man?  It happens every day, in both banter and performance.  I will repeat, as I did in a previous post.... honest context is imperative to not only the conclusions, but the questions.

I certainly hope you're not like Donald Trump......I know I'm not.  And I still disagree with your conclusions......for Trump is my honest context.  No need to reinvent the wheel.

That's weak Shabs.  I'll trust an overtly transparent individual over a pandering, sneaky coward,,, any day... and let objective reasoning determine the truth.  As for me... my privacy dictates my rights and perspectives.  I owe no explanations to you or anyone else for my private behavior one way or another... ESPECIALLY when judged out of context.  If you want to know my context toward a personal situation, ask the questions honestly.  I'm sure a lot of my personal behavior could easily be misunderstood when knee-jerk reactionaries first apply a false moral equivalence.  I'm better than that.

I asked you for nothing.  Besides, this is not about you, this is about Trump.....and his growing list of alleged indiscretions.  Is it politically motivated?  Absolutely would be my answer.  Those women have the same rights and voices as the rest of us.  I would think Trump would understand this, judging from his debate guest list.  And if the allegations are true, nobody should want a man of such low moral fiber to be president.  Bill paid the price for his.....we shouldn't make the same mistake of allowing another womanizing adulterous into the highest office in the land when we have the chance to stop it.  As always, just my firm opinion....not about to change.  I expect the same from you.

Here's a perfect example of objective honesty in our banter.  You "asked" by inference, wondering if I was like Trump.  I "answered" with respect to my privacy, aimed at you and anyone else.  You made it personal, not me... but I invited any further inquiries, with honest reservations, that's all.  That's how I determine a worthwhile truth.

Only the truth has the ability to change one's opinions... so we seek it, honestly.  One thing I feel certain about, is that there is no one man, or woman, of such better moral fiber than another... especially, that we will ever be 100% privy to.  EVERYONE has moral deficiency, one way or another.  And frankly, measuring morality is quite relative to one's values.  As you may contend that crude behavior is immoral... another person may contend that the violation of Constitutional laws/rights is a worse moral offense.  I subscribe to the latter... as such has much more affect on me, and the country at large.  I'll subordinate the values of personal and private, even social moral discretion, to its individual relevance and context.  That's more of an issue for the Thought Police and PC Structure.  Such attention has never, and will never, empower or secure Individual freedoms.  It is a false equivalence.

:wub:That's because they still have a shred of decency and morality in them and the truth is too embarrassing to reveal. Give them a couple more weeks and they won't care.

If you want to know my context toward a personal situation, ask the questions honestly. " as quoted by Jax"

:wub:I have no hidden meaning, and my question contains no psychobabble hidden agenda. I pose the question as an introspective look at the job you're willing to give someone. That question being again, would you let someone who has a history of talking like Donald Trump be your teenage daughter's teacher? Four some this is not a choice between Donald Trump and Hillarious Clinton. And that is because we have gone from the lesser of two evils to just two evils. A choice that no longer needs to be made, now it stands in the Realm of principles.

:wub:Do we indeed seek it? I speak the truth every day on your site quoting the author of all truth, God. And to be honest I feel as if I'm completely ridiculed for doing so. That may just be my perception ,I'll give you that but it is how I feel. No matter what one thing is certain ,the truth that I presented using the holy word of God is not accepted. And I would say please don't tell me about interpretations because the word of God does not need man's interpretation it is truth ,it is plain and it is real.
