Interesting, this could be the breaking point. I see the US rebuilding the Airbase south of Mosul and siding with the Kurd region. This is very good. I think the USA is in support of separate countries or at least a more independent city state regional government. This is precisely the type of pressure needed to actually make a decision. Then something will happen, favorable or not for us in respect to making financial returns, something will happen.

I think something will happen Jan 1st 2017.

This could be really good news.  Here are a couple related links to news articles Yota posted (one on the parliament passing the law and one on the cabinet passing the measure):

I may be wrong but this is kinda like the States and Federal Governments in the US.  If I understand correctly, not only will Kurdistan benefit from this measure but it will apply to all the Iraqi provinces.  There seems to be recent news articles indicating a "decentralization" of the Iraqi Federal Government in favor of somewhat autonomous provinces.  This seems to keep the local government closer to home and "more power to the people."  More good news on follow through in Iraq on what they say they will do.

The Kurds come out every year with this independence game at budget time, same ole same ole...They try to use this scare tactic as leverage for a bigger slice of the oil money. If the crooks would sit down long enough to hash out the HCL they wouldn't need this yearly independence threat blah, blah, blah.....

DoD bagged this one.....

The Kurds could never survive as an autonomous state. ....all hell would break loose . The Iranian Kurds and The Turkish Kurds would then want to break away from their respective countries causing chaos & mahem.

They'll cease & desist all this repetitive threatening to secede,  when Baghdad settles Article 140 & The Hydrocarbon Law.
