2 HOME INVASIONS, 2 DIFFERENT RESULTS

Two similar absolutely tragic stories I saw today, with one glaring difference.

RIP Amanda Blackburn, I hope your killers are quickly brought to justice.

And prayers for your quick recovery Semantha Bunce, I hope the other POS that shot you is caught quickly too.  RV ME

Pastor's pregnant wife, 28, dies after being shot during home invasion

The pregnant wife of an Indiana pastor was taken off life support and died on Thursday, two days after she was shot in a home invasion robbery.

Amanda Blackburn, 28, was disconnected from a ventilator and pronounced dead, the coroner’s office told FOX59. She was an organ donor and that process has been completed.

“It’s impossible to communicate all the emotions my heart has been forced to process,” Pastor Davey Blackburn, Amanda’s husband, wrote in a message on the Resonate Church’s website. “My wife was such a beautiful, gracious, loving woman of God. I have not only lost my ministry partner and support, but also my very best friend.”

Amanda was mortally wounded during Tuesday’s shooting, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. at her Indianapolis home.

The Blackburns had moved to Indiana from South Carolina in 2012 to start the Resonate Church. They have a young son, Weston, who was home at the time of the robbery but was not hurt. Amanda was 12 weeks pregnant with the couple’s second child when she was killed, according to FOX59.

Davey Blackburn returned from the gym and found Amanda around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, lying unconscious on the floor. She had been shot at least once.

Indiana police have not yet released any information on a possible suspect, but are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Another break-in occurred in the same area, which police also are investigating.

Authorities are not yet sure if the two cases are linked.

“Obviously, a lot of questions that still need to be answered,” IMPD Officer Rafael Diaz told FOX59.

Breastfeeding Mom Exchanges Gunshots With Home Intruders

Rachel Bertsche November 10, 2015

Days after a breastfeeding mom was wounded in a shootout during a home invasion, one of the armed men has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Semantha Bunce, a 21-year-old mother of two in Charlotte, N.C., was nursing her 4-month-old son, Bentley, last week when two men barged into her home. Bunce, a combat medic in the National Guard, reacted swiftly. Her first move: protect her son. “Not a scratch is on him. She brought the matter away from him and definitely protected him,” Semantha’s husband, Paul Bunce, told WCNC. “She laid him down in the crib upstairs in our room. He was safe there.” The couple’s 4-year-old daughter, Bailee, was at school.

After putting Bentley down, Semantha grabbed her gun and confronted the intruders, who opened fire. Semantha shot back. “I think it was a shock to the intruders as much as it was to her,” Paul told WBTV about the shots his wife exchanged with the criminals before they fled.

Semantha suffered multiple gunshot wounds but is recovering well, according to WSOC. “She’s doing fantastic. She’s a warrior,” one of her neighbors told the station. “She’s still beat up but she’ll make it out.”

On Friday, Semantha posted an update to her Facebook page. “I would love to personally thank each and every one if you for your support during this time,” she wrote. “No words can truly express the amount of gratitude I share for each of you during this time of utter tragedy. To those family members and friends who traveled near and far to be with me and support me during my time of recovery, to those strangers whom I’ve never met who have taken their generous time to donate and to support my family during this time as well, I appreciate you all equally! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the undying support.”

On Saturday, one of the intruders, 23-year-old Reca Latur Dawkins Jr., turned himself in. He is being charged with attempted murder, felony breaking and entering, and conspiracy to commit felony breaking and entering, according to WSOC. He will appear in court on Tuesday. Police are still looking for the second intruder.

Paul, a medical technician, started his job only three months ago, so his full benefits have not yet kicked in, and the family’s medical bills will be costly. Two different fundraising sites have been launched to help the Bunces bear the financial burden. One, a YouCaring site, was created by Paul’s coworkers and has raised more than $6,000. And a no-soliciting site has raised more than $39,000. The latter was started by Semantha’s friend and fellow soldier, Hollie Ritchie. “[semantha] is an amazing person, mother, wife, friend and soldier. Would do anything for anyone and would quite literally give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it,” Ritchie wrote on the site. “A majority of this money will be used for medical bills since that will be the biggest cost, including her ambulance ride, surgeries, various doctors that have treated her, medications, stay in ICU and the hospital as well as post-hospital follow up visits to her regular doctor. Unfortunately the doctors (and their bills) do not end once she is released and goes home. … I can’t even begin to imagine what they are going through. However, I do know that when a friend, especially a fellow comrade, needs help then you do exactly that.”

6 Time Felon Killed In Shootout By 13 Year Old During Home Invasion

A brave 13-year-old Ladson boy fended off two hardened felons who were attempting to break into his house by using his mother’s gun to protect himself while home alone.

The boy saw the men breaking into the back of his home, “at which time he feared for his safety” and grabbed his mother’s gun, the document states. He began firing at them, and the Sheriff’s office reported that they returned fire.

In a heated shootout, he shot Brown three times, and Bennett drove him to the hospital where he later died. The gray Chevy Sonic they were driving had bullet holes in it from the boy chasing them, the affidavit states.

Where is the media coverage of this brave young man. Without the protection of his mothers gun the boy, and probably his mother when she got home, would both be dead.

Guns Reports:

Two convicted felons intent on breaking into a Ladson, South Carolina, home last week were met with surprise when they came face to face with 13-year-old armed with a gun.

According to reports from The Post and Courier, the young boy, who is not being identified, was home alone when he grew suspicious of a car that pulled up outside around 1:30 p.m. Moments later, the two suspects went to the back of the house and attempted to break in, at such time, the boy, fearing for his safety, grabbed his mother’s handgun.

As the suspects tried to make their way into the house, the boy opened fire, but the suspects reacted by returning fire before fleeing from the scene.

The boy chased the suspects out of the home and continued to fire as they fled in their vehicle. The boy, who was uninjured, then called his mother, who instructed him to call the police.

Neighbor Debbie Griffin said she called police after hearing about six shots ring out. She added that her son was outside at the time and heard more shots and witnessed the attempted burglary. He told her he saw the suspects’ car parked behind the house.

Investigators combed the area around the boy’s home and discovered a Colt .45 pistol, which was believed to belong to the suspects.

A short time later, one of the suspects, who was later identified as Lamar Anthwan Brown, 31, was dropped off outside the emergency room of a nearby hospital. Brown, who was shot three times, died at the medical facility. The second suspect, Ira Bennett, 28, later turned himself in to authorities. He was charged with first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Lamar Anthwan Brown, (L) 31, of Summerville, died at Trident Medical Center of gunshot wounds. Bennett, 28, ® of North Charleston has been charged with first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

But apparently the two men were no strangers to crime, with both having an extensive criminal history. Brown was convicted six times on felony drug charges, in addition to unlawful carrying of a weapon, disorderly conduct and trespassing. Bennett was previously convicted of assault with intent to kill, pointing a firearm at a person and third-degree burglary, in addition to drug convictions that included possession of a controlled substance, manufacturing and distributing a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

The boy’s mother, who is just thankful her son is safe, said she kept the gun in the home for personal protection, but she never taught her son how to use it.

“I tell my kids that if anything ever happens to call 911, but I also tell them to protect themselves if they have to,” the mother said. “I never would have dreamed that this would have been a part of our day today.”

The boy, who homeschools and is typically home with another family member during the day, did not wish to talk with reporters, but according to neighbor Debbie Griffin, who witnessed part of the attempted burglary, the boy wished the shooting never would have occurred.

Thanks to the both of y'all for your threads ! It is a damn shame but we have more felons than police can deal with , the only chance we have is to shoot them first. We don't need more prisons we need more cemeteries ! stackem 3 deep so they can keep each other company in Hell !

Both stories are very tragic and becoming all too common place in this country.  I'm sketchy on what the actual narrative being presented here is though.  Our we to assume the pastor's wife chose God's protection over gun protection....or did she own a gun and just never had a chance to retrieve it?  Or is this more about the rampant criminal element we're surrounded by?

Its kinda simple actually

You use a umbrella when it rains.

a life jacket while boating.

a saw if you want cut wood

a drill if you want to make a hole

a hammer if you want to hammer a nail

a gun if you want to stay alive.

It`s just a choice you make

BUT it must remain a choice

Not a directive from another entity

declaring I have no choice.
