new york kevin
Hello Dinarians: With El Nino supposedly coming this winter I need to replace 3 sliding glass doors.Really just one needs replacing, but what the heck. I want the most secure and most affordable dual pane replacement doors. One that secures into the framing, and at 3 to 4 points on the door. Perhaps with impact resistant glass. Which is the best material for the doors to be made out of? Is one manufacturer better than others? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
bigwave
I went with an Anlin product. I have zero affiliation with them other than I got some windows and doors. I went with there sliders. They are heavy and of course all impact resistance. Good luck
Fly
Secure from weather cold and water, sliding Glass Doors. Fully glazed doors and sliders will all by code be tempered. Material vinyl. Manufacturer; check with contractors in your area that will also be giving you a price for installation, he can most likely tell you were you can look at some for yourself. Material; much depends on what will look good with existing windows, doors and structure. Also secure from weather cold and water, much will depend on proper installation of the contractor and/or his workers craftsmanship or subcontractor and/or workers craftsmanship. If you don’t know of a trusted contractor ask lots of questions at the lumber yards in your area and get names of what they believe are the best, If the best are just be too busy to work you in, they will be happy to give you references of who else to call. When you think you found some contractors your comfortable with, get references from them of customers that have had similar work done by them, and do your homework by calling them and talking with them. Cost; Theses jobs are getting very expensive any more and contractors work very hard for what they can make on a job like yours, I can easily see three doors installed costing several thousand, give or take a few as there are many variables to consider.
