Sunday News Summaries and Commentaries

On the sidelines of the Conference on Bank and the International Monetary Fund ..alarac discuss with Turkey the previous regime and reaffirms its commitment to debt

Finance Minister Zebari met with his Turkish counterparts while attending the World Bank and IMF meetings in Lima, Peru and one of the issues that was discussed between the two neighboring countries was the commitment of Iraq to repay debts owed to Turkey that stem back to the former regime.....

Zebari reconfirmed the Iraqi commitment to this effort, saying that to do so would be in compliance with Paris Club requirements that was set in place to ensure the protection of rights of both parties....

....

Meanwhile the Finance Minister continues to point out that Iraq is working to achieve financial and economic stability in the face of all other nations who watch with eager interest as Iraq continues to attempt to balance things between their battle against terrorism and strong economic issues within the country that have been prefaced by the singular issue surrounding the massive drop in oil prices over the past year.

Iraq participates in a round table meeting of the countries of the Middle East and North Africa

Still while attending the banking meetings in Lima, Peru the Iraqi Finance Minister Zebari is having meetings that center around humanitarian interests and loans that will help to reshape and rebuild various areas of Iraq that have been devastated by the war on terrorism.....

Part of the discussions centered on a new strategy being developed between the World Bank's initiative and the participation of the Islamic Development Bank...they see a two track effort forming, that would include a bond issuance mechanism that will be used largely to help fund aid for refugees and displaced citizens....

This plea for assistance comes at a time when Iraq is struggling with the development of the 2016 budget and knowing that the deficit associated with this budget will be approaching 30 trillion dinars.....but he is showing the interested parties the layout of plans that Iraq has for providing aid to the people as well as the reconstruction plans that await funding to get work started in areas that were decimated by terrorist activities.

Zebari discuss with the International Finance Corporation to support private sector projects

At this meeting in Peru this week, Finance Minister Zebari has been a busy bee moving from one meeting to the next, and not always are these meetings being highlighted by the main agenda of the conference, but instead are sideline meetings with the appropriate parties who also happen to be in attendance....killing several birds with one stone so to speak....

Zebari met with key personnel from the International Finance Corporation to speak on behalf of Iraq's private sector needs particularly surrounding issues with energy and electricity....and it is seen that the Corporation has allocated about $1 billion dollars towards the funding of electrical projects within Iraq.

Saleh: There are no cash crisis in the country ..walmoisnh in Parliament next week

Dr. Saleh in speaking this week on the 2016 budget, expects to see the budget presented to the Parliament some time next week....meanwhile he denies any sign of weakness within the government to pay employee salaries....

He is standing firm on the idea that some non-specialists have been attempting to stir the pot as they attempt to raise concerns about salary payment problems....he states this is not an issue at this time....he also spoke on the reform efforts that have been recently launched and aimed at reducing government spending....

He added that with the coming of the 2016 budget he remains firm in the stance of there not being any kind of cash crisis within the government or its framework...he stresses that increases in oil production from the Kurds will be a shot in the arm in the fight against terrorism for all of Iraq.....

He sees the rise in oil production from the Kurds as a positive motion and a confidence builder between the region and the Iraqi government, expecting dialogue and negotiations to continue between the two entities.

The rule of law: are committed to Balebadi despite his statements against al-Maliki

Be very cautious of what you read and believe from certain types of media....just last week we saw apparent "evidence" of the State of Law coalition seemingly wanting to walk away from PM Abadi and throw their support in other directions....well now today we see that may not be the case.....the coalition states that it stands in support of Abadi, his government, and the reforms that he has thus far proposed for Iraq and the government.....sure there are still those who openly support Maliki....but as for the State of Law coalition as a whole, their support is with Abadi at this time.

Could Saudi-Iraqi ties be key to defeating Islamic State?

After 25 years of strained relations between the Saudi's and Iraq we are seeing a crack in the foundation of this bitter fight between these two neighbors.....the crack is coming in the way of new ambassadors being appointed by both countries to their counterpart and the opening of embassy offices in each country.....

Part of their issues with each other stem from their particular ideologies and styles of government....but this barrier between the two has also managed to open the door for terrorist groups such as al Qaeda and ISIS to invade openly and almost without fear of reprisal....

Now Iraq sits with almost a third of its country under ISIS control and the two neighbors have done little to nothing to support one another in such a common battle with enemies they both detest....well again maybe the facade that has existing for a quarter of a century is cracking and new changes will be forthcoming to unite these two in ways that might have been thought impossible for them to shake hands upon in the past.....

Saudi is the neighbor who definitely has the economic strength to step in and offer assistance to Iraq in reconstructive efforts and may well help to stimulate their economy back into the black again....they are both oil and energy giants in the region and throughout the world who should be standing together and not against each other for a common end.

Agricultural Bank announced the launch of loans during the current week, the adoption of "electronic loan"

The Agricultural Bank of Iraq announces this week they are launching citizen loans this week, but on top of that they are prepared to offer these loans via an electronic format....a format that will see money in the hands of the citizens in some cases inside of 2 weeks.....they appear to be working from a tiered platform of loans, with the Board of Directors able to approve loans in amounts ranging from 500 million dinars up to 3 billion dinars.....and a higher level committee able to process loans between 3 billion dinars and 20 billion dinars.....the cutting of red tape has begun....may it continue into other areas as well for the good of all Iraq.

Chairman of the affected areas Fund reveal the cost of the reconstruction of liberated cities

Chairman of the Reconstruction Funds for Iraqi areas affected by terrorist activities, Turki, yes the former acting governor of the CBI, is saying that efforts to rebuild these liberated areas will cost greatly to Iraq.....in excess of 1.5 trillion dinars....he points to $350 million dollars coming from the World Bank but also looks for other donor countries and companies who can all make a difference in how fast and efficiently Iraq can rebuild these areas so badly damaged by the terrorists.....he is fighting an uphill battle for sure, but he is not giving up but instead is constantly working with potential donors to show them how their money will be used in humanitarian ways to help so many displaced Iraqi citizens.

Parliamentary Legal announce the arrival of 2016 budget next week and is working to reduce the price of a barrel of oil to $ 40

As the Parliamentary Legal Committee eagerly awaits the arrival of the 2016 budget into their hands they are already looking for ways they can further reduce the price of oil per barrel in the budget from what they hear is at $45 now and they want to push it lower to $40/barrel.....doing this will remove a big chunk of the deficit they know they face for 2016....their goal is to hopefully set the deficit at as low a level as they can possibly get it.

Abadi: will be offered a new law on oil and gas if the government delayed in sending the copy has

First off...this is NOT PM Abadi, but perhaps a relative of his associated with the Parliament Commission on Oil and Gas....we saw this article out last week as well.....it is the intent of this individual within the Commission on Oil and Gas to basically take things into their own hands and develop a new draft of the oil and gas law if one is not forthcoming from COM.....he states that the intent of this proposed draft would be to have it effective in all provinces....their main intent in rewriting the law would be to remove any differences between Baghdad and the provinces....well good luck with that effort.

Call for approval of the Federal Council for Oil and Gas

Talk is cheap, we've seen that for many years to be the case....but when it comes down to the actual implementation of an oil and gas law for all of Iraq....the end results are onerous at best to come to grips over.....yes an oil and gas law is needed for the country, yes it stands to reason that such a law would benefit the citizens....but then throw politics into the framework and all bets are off.....sure the numbers don't lie as to what Iraq stands to make with a unified effort on this law....

But apparently money isn't everything.....or there exists squabbles over something as simple as how to calculate the export of oil....the little details that should not have to be sweated...but they are causing sweat to the point of dehydration.....get over the hurdles, the low hurdles and move on to the next event....make this happen....for Pete's sake and the sake of his brothers and sisters.....get your act together on oil and gas so all can benefit.

Well let's agree to break at this point....why....just because.....as the news pops up later I should be around to work on things individually as the day wears on.....yes today is Sunday....let your faith in God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit shine ever so brightly, may your faith touch the life of at least one other person and spark just an instance of renewed faith in their life as well....blessing to all.

Two - One To Hold The Bulb While The Other One Turns The Camel ...
