Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the issue of economy is a priority for Iran, adding that the enemies seek to undermine the trust of the Iranian nation in the Islamic establishment through mounting economic pressure.

"To succeed in realizing their objectives against Iran, the Iranians and the Islamic Republic, the enemies of the Islamic Republic are looking for economic strategies and in better words, seek to deal economic blows to the Iranian nation," the Leader said in an address to a huge gathering of pilgrims in the holy Iranian city of Mashhad on Tuesday on the first day of the Persian New Year.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the new Persian calendar year as “important” for the country, both in terms of the need for more economic mobility and the upcoming presidential and city councils elections.

He said the Iranians must also show their national unity in the New Year and prove their commitment to the Islamic establishment and the revolution, and flaunt their allegiance to the enemies.

'Economic woes unrelated to Islamic foundations'

The Leader said the enemy seeks to attribute the existing economic issues to Islam and blame the Islamic foundations of the country for the economic woes.

“The enemy’s goal is to dismay and disillusion the Iranian nation with the Islamic establishment through economic pressure and drive a wedge between the people and the Islamic establishment,” the Leader stated, emphasizing, however, that the enemy has not been and would never be able to achieve its objectives.

“The enemy in its widespread propaganda is making efforts to attribute the country’s livelihood and economic shortcomings to the Islamic establishment and the Islamic Republic of Iran and this is the enemy’s plot,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“The enemies want to pretend that the Islamic establishment has not been and will never be able to solve the economic and major woes of the Iranian nation…This claim stems from their grudge and hatred against the Islamic establishment and this claim is contrary to the truth,” the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei acknowledged the existence of weaknesses in the country, adding, however, that these shortcomings stem from management flaws.

The Islamic establishment and the Islamic Republic have offered "prominent and remarkable" services to Iran and the Iranians, the Leader said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the services are incomparable to those provided in the era before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The Leader said the population of the country has grown two-fold since the Revolution, but the services provided, including in infrastructure, have increased by "a very eye-catching" and much greater rate.

Figures indicating Iran’s progress in the military and economy are very remarkable, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that the number of university students, as one example, has increased 25 times the pre-revolution figures.

There has been a six-fold increase in the length of roads built in the country, while electricity generation has grown 14 times and non-oil exports have risen 57-fold, the Leader said.

'Elections very important for Iran'

Elsewhere, Ayatollah Khamenei described as "very important" the issue of elections in the Islamic Republic, whether it be the presidential, parliamentary or city council polls.

"Elections are one of the two pillars of religious democracy," the Leader said, adding, "We boast to the world courtesy of our elections and the enemies ignore our elections in order to deal a blow to the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic."

Ayatollah Khamenei said a massive turnout in the elections is a top priority, adding, "The Iranian nation must shine in the elections."

He also said the law must be observed to the letter in the elections. "Whatever the result of the elections by the nation, it is credible and lawful."

The Leader said he would not interfere in the elections and has never recommended any candidate in any polls but would take action if anyone seeks to stand against the vote of the people and disrupt the elections.

"If anyone seeks to defy the result of the nation's vote, I will stand against them," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Supreme Leader: This year marks important year

Mashhad, Razavi Khorassan Prov., March 21, IRNA – Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that current Iranian year marks an important year for Iranian nation.

82470643-71495641.jpg

“This year marks an important year for the country both because of the country’s need to a major economic vibrancy … and of the imminent presidential and rural and city councils’ elections, which are in turn of high importance,” said the Supreme Leader in an address to large groups of pilgrims to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the 8th Imam of Prophet Mohammad’s (Peace Be upon Him and His Progeny) infallible household, on the occasion of the start of the new Iranian year.
“These two well represent to the enemy the direction of Iranian nation: (huge public turnout in) the Bahman 22 rallies, (public participation in) ceremonies in (lunar month of) Moharram and in rallies on the day of Arbaeen (the 40th day of Imam Hossein’s (AS) martyrdom) do not belong to a special political trait; they belong to all the nation and different traits in the country. The direction of Iranian nation’s movement is religious and revolutionary in nature; it well showcases Iranian nation’s identity to both friends and enemies.”
Recalling Iranian nation’s success in the last Iranian calendar year of 1395, the Supreme Leader said despite economic problems, the nation managed to shine well in two ways: Firstly, adherence to the revolutionary issues and values and to the Islamic establishment and secondly, loyalty to the religious and divine values.
Whole events in the past year depict two major signs: National solidarity in basic issues of living despite differences in marginal and political issues, and public affiliation to the system, revolution, religious issues and matters of faith, said the Supreme Leader.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei said economy is the prioritized issue of the country. “Not just this year but for several years, it (economy) has been atop the key priorities of the country; In the years, the need was felt for taking appropriate economic moves and making sound planning.”
“Economy is Iranian nation’s priority today; it’s worth noting that economy is the priority of the enemy as well. To achieve their goals in connection with Iran, Iranian and the Islamic Republic, enemies of the Islamic Republic resort to economic strategies or better to say to the mechanism of dealing economic blow on the Iranian nation. Enemy wants to pile up pressure to make Iranian nation disappointed with the Islamic establishment and the Islamic Republic. They wish to divide Iranian nation and the Islamic establishment, in line with their own objectives. Of course, I should say our ignorant and atheist enemy has been striving for years to separate the nation from the system but to no avail thanks to God Almighty.”
The Supreme Leader, referring to giant moves taken in the country in the past 30 and couple of years, said number of population has risen to 80 million from 40 million, with that of roads showing six times growth, the port capacities increasing 20-folded, reservoir dams 30-folded, power generation 14-folded, and the non-oil and petrochemical exports 57- and 30-folded.
Before the 1979 Islamic Revolution the exports were restricted to oil and a handful of other products which were nothing when compared to oil, said the Supreme Leader, adding that however, today the non-oil exports are up 57 times and that of petrochemical products 30 times.
In terms of science and technology, Iran has gained good progress to the extent that number of students are up 25 times compared to the figure early in the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, said the Supreme Leader, adding that now, number of students are close to five million.
“As for social and human development, the indices are high; the same is for services offered to the public like power, gas, phone and rural development services, which show promising and very good figures.”
In terms of military activities there are high figures, said the Paramount Leader, adding that as a country, which was totally dependent on others like on such enemies as the US before triumph of the Islamic Revolution, Iran is now attaining so much military progress which has made enemy so angry and concerned.”
“Revolution will not be stopped; progress will not be stopped. There are many things which should be done and thanks God Almighty they have been or will be done. I should say for certain that if the management in various parts of the country is committed, revolutionary and efficient, all problems of the country will be solved. We do not have any unsolvable problem.”
“The second point is that the country’s capacities are so high. We have many potential and talents…. Iran is rich in human and natural resources, both under and above the ground forces. Five million students mark a huge asset for the country. Furthermore, we have 10 million university graduates.”
“In terms of underground resources we are developed worldwide: We rank first worldwide in terms of oil and gas. We are on the top worldwide in terms of gas. This country is rich. That’s why enemies and the world domineering powers have an eye on the country; they want to dominate it; this is their wish for ever. They will fail to see their wish materialized.”
The Supreme Leader said, “We want national security, national dignity, public welfare and health for Iran. We want all-out progress and independence of the world powers. We want actualization of talents and getting rid of such social problems as addiction.”
“We need economy and strong production as well as powerful management. Without national unity this will not be obtained of course. Without link of the nation with the system such causes will not be met. Without revolutionary culture they will not be gained either. Without courageous, active and hard working officials such demands will not be addressed.”
“Our economic vacuums are large: One of them is unemployment, especially unemployment of the educated youth and living condition of the poor. We are well aware of people’s status in many domains; people suffer problems. There are problems with unemployment and earning a living. Many cultural and social problems entail as a result. Economists consider recession and unemployment as major problem. They are right. One of the problems is unemployment and the other being production stagnation. Economy of Resistance is a collection. Any success to analyze the collection and put more emphasis on part of the key issues in any chance will yield good results for sure.”
The Supreme Leader said, “Economic growth has proved positive; however, investment shows negative growth, which is a fundamental and big problem. Or, let’s say for instance that in certain sectors such as oil, we have gained progress but we are lagging behind in certain other sectors like mining and housing. Official statistics do not contend one that general movement is towards elimination of problems. At present juncture of the country’s economy, the basic work focuses on national and domestic problem. That’s a key word and whose diversified highlights are originated from the same issue. Any success to promote national production will result in employment. Unemployment is one of our calamities today. The unemployment rate is high. The problem will be either removed or minimized.”
“Exports are a must: State officials should get active in this field. A few countries are the parties to considerable portion of our exports, which is a mistake. One more point is providing security of investment, which rests with the Judiciary and the security forces. They should try to guarantee security of investment. One more key job is stabilization of policies. Rules should not undergo constant changes. That’s something which rests with the Majlis. They should remove legal impediments.”
Touching on elections, the Supreme Leader said, “Elections is a very important issue for our country. It holds true not only for presidential but also parliamentary and council elections. Elections are one of the two pillars of democracy. Religious democracy stands on the two pillars: Public votes and elections. To condemn Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic, enemies deny our elections. The world people and thinkers are stunned by the idea of religious democracy raised worldwide.Iranian people should shine well in the elections.”
As far as elections are concerned, the exact requirements of the law should be acted upon and whatever is the result, it will be valid and legal, said the Supreme Leader, adding, “What’s of importance for me is first of all public turnout in the elections. All those eligible to vote should participate and make it glorious.”
“I do not intend to interfere in elections; I’ve never told people to whom vote and to whom do not. There is only one thing I meddle in, and that is when a few individuals want to stand against popular vote and the people’s choice, intruding on the people’s vote.'
“Anyone who seeks to confront a nation’s vote, I will stand against them. This has been the same in the previous elections. This was the same case for elections of 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2013. Sometimes, this happens right before the eyes of the people. And in other cases, this humble person was informed while the people were not. In all those elections, I've mentioned, there were people who wanted to confront the elections. It became clear only in 2009; but, in all those years I stood up. I made it clear that whatever the election results are, they should be acknowledged.'
'I predict that we will have glorious and broad-based elections; we hope that result of the elections will bring about prosperity and divine consent. The nation will proceed with good elections and God willing, enemy will not be able to do a damn thing,” concluded the Paramount Leader.

Iran to turn gasoline exporter soon

Kerman, March 21, IRNA – The First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri says Iran will soon turn into gasoline exporter.

Speaking to a group of officials in Kerman Province, Jahangiri said Iran has now turned into exporter of gasoil, once used to be its importer.
“Iran is now major gasoil exporter and will soon turn into exporter of gasoline,” said the Veep.
The oil fields common with other countries was one of the main pivots of economy of resistance last year, said the official, adding that just almost eight years ago, Iran’s amount of gas extraction from South Pars almost equaled that of Qatar and when current government took office, the Qataris extracted gas from the field twice that of ours. “Such a gap should be interpreted as plunder of public wealth: The share and right of Iranian nation was plundered by a miniature state.”
During the period, the focus was shifted to South Pars and the amount of extraction of Iran equaled with that of Qatar to the extent that in the calendar year of 1396 (March 21, 2017-March 20. 2018) Iran’s amount of extraction from South Pars will exceed that of Qatar, he boasted.
He also announced that Iran’s oil recovery from common fields west of Karoon River has increased.

Khamenei coined the term "resistance economy" to describe measures to aimed at making Iran's economy more self-sufficient, compared to President Hassan Rohani's policy of seeking to open Iran to more international trade and investment.

Khamenei's March 20 remarks have piled pressure on Rohani ahead of an election in May.

Hard-liners led by Khamenei have repeatedly criticized Rohani for the terms of a nuclear deal he reached with world powers that lifted international economic sanctions and was supposed to boost Iran's economy.

In a message marking Norouz, the Persian New Year, Khamenei said he felt "the pain of the poor and lower-class people with my soul, especially because of high prices, unemployment, and inequalities."

He said Rohani's government "has taken positive steps but they do not meet people's expectations and mine."

Rohani's Norouz message highlighted economic achievements of his government and called for citizens' rights to be respected.

Enemies resorting to economic pressure to achieve goals: Leader

"If anyone seeks to defy the result of the nation's vote, I will stand against them," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

In his televised message to the nation on Monday on the occasion of the New Year, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the importance of domestic production and employment, especially for Iranian youths.

“These are the main and key sectors. If we manage to focus on these two sectors and plan and categorize our affairs on this basis, I believe that the task will move forward to a great extent and impressive and tangible achievements will be made,” the Leader said.

The Leader designated the new Iranian calendar year of 1396 as the “Year of Resistance Economy: Production and Employment."

Iran, Iraq to lead Middle East oil growth

Iran, Iraq to lead Middle East oil growth

Speculations are growing that oil field development plans in Iran and Iraq would drive the largest production growth in the Middle East over the next four years.

According to research consultancy Rystad Energy that studies the member countries of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in the Middle East, Iran and Iraq are on track to meet production targets and are expected to specifically contribute to a rise in production in the region from the second half of 2017.

“Iraq and Iran are the countries where oil production is expected to see the highest growth over the next decade … [they] are also among the countries that are leading in terms of the capital investment increase in the years to come,” an analyst at Rystad said as quoted by breakbulk.com energy news website.

In Iraq, production growth is expected to be underpinned by the launch of the second development phase of the Lukoil-operated Qurna West-2 field, the Nahr bin Umar field, the second phase of the Majnoon and the third phase of the Halfayah developments, it added.

In Iran, the first phase of the South Azadegan project is expected to contribute to oil production growth over the next five years, reaching a plateau of 255,000 barrels of day from 2021.

Iran announced in January that its production of oil has reached around 4 million barrels per day (mb/d) – a yet another indication that the country is regaining its crude production abilities after multiple years of sanctions.

Gholam-Reza Manouchehri, the deputy for development and engineering affairs of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), told the domestic media that Iran was already on the way to make a stronger oil market recovery, emphasizing that this would be expedited through the development of several key projects such as South Azadegan within the next few years.

Zarif: Iran will resume nuclear work with ‘greater’ speed if U.S. violates deal

March 21, 2017

2381241.jpg

ISFAHAN – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned late on Monday that if the United States continues reneging on its commitments under the nuclear deal to the extent that Iran sees the keeping of the deal not in conformity with its national interests the Islamic Republic will resume its nuclear activities with “even greater” speed.

The July 2015 nuclear deal, offically called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, went into effect in January 2016. According to the JCPOA, Iran put limits on its nuclear activities in return for a termination of all nulcear related sanctions.

To back up his statement, Zarif told reporters in Isfahan that Iranian experts have succeeded to develope the country’s “most advanced” centrifuges which are capable of refining uranium 20 times more than the old generations, ISNA reported.

US will honor Iran nuclear deal, Trump’s advisor says

US will honor Iran nuclear deal, Trump’s advisor says

US President Donald Trump’s nuclear advisor says Washington will honor the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and six major world powers, including the United States.

Christopher Ford, the White House National Security Council's senior director for weapons of mass destruction and counter-proliferation, made the remarks during a conference in Washington, DC on Tuesday.

Ford told the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace that the Trump administration will stick to the Iran nuclear pact unless otherwise is decided.

"Until otherwise decided, the United States will adhere to the Iran nuclear deal and ensure that Iran also does," he said.

However, the Trump aide also said that the White House is reviewing the Iran deal along with all the other nuclear pacts that Washington has negotiated during previous administrations.

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council -- the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China -- plus Germany started implementing the JCPOA on January 16, 2016.

The deal limited parts of Iran's peaceful nuclear program in exchange for the complete removal of all sanctions against the country.

Since then, Washington has on a number of occasions violated the agreement by imposing anti-Iran sanctions despite the United Nations’ confirmation that Tehran has abided by the terms of the accord.

In February, the Trump administration implemented a new round of sanctions against Iran following the country’s successful test-launch of a ballistic missile, which Washington said was a breach of the JCPOA. Iran rejected the US claim, reiterating the right to develop its defense capabilities.

Trump has been a staunch opponent of the international agreement negotiated by the US under President Barack Obama.

During his presidential campaign, Trump had promised to repeal the nuclear accord which he referred to as a "disaster" and "the worst deal ever negotiated." He also said that the agreement could lead to a "nuclear holocaust."

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has warned that Tehran is ready to restore its nuclear activities to the level it was before the 2015 deal should Washington fail to keep its end of the nuclear bargain.

Iran “is fully prepared to return to the pre-JCPOA situation or even [to conditions] more robust than that if the US reneges on its promises to the extent that the JCPOA’s continuation harms our national interests,” Zarif stated on Monday.

According to American political analyst Professor Dennis Etler, however, Trump is in no position to threaten Iran.

“The reason for Trump’s retreat from his bombastic rhetoric regarding both Iran and China is the sobering realization by his team that the US is in no position to follow through on his threats. There is also no prospect that the US will be able to do so during his first term in office,” Professor Etler told Press TV recently.

BoE reluctant to help facilitate Iran-UK trade

Reuters in a report quoted informed sources as saying that the Bank of England is still reluctant to facilitate trade between the two countries even though the government is trying to open Iran-UK trading oppositions.

While the British government has reaffirmed its commitment to help Iran’s reintegration into the global financial system, reports say the country’s central bank is still reluctant to facilitate trade between the two countries.

Reuters in an exclusive report quoted informed sources as saying that the Bank of England (BoE) had recently turned down a request by Tehran to set up special clearing accounts for its banks.

Such accounts, for Iran's own Central Bank or for the British subsidiaries of Iranian banks, would allow them to make and receive payments in sterling, business so far rejected by commercial banks.

"That would send a huge message to the market. What commercial bank is practically going to stop Bank of England payments? None," Reuters quoted one Western source as saying.

However, the sources said the BoE seems uninterested in resolving the problem for now.

"The Bank of England has proved resistant to intervening in any kind of positive way in order to assist trade between Iran and UK," said the Western source.

Reuters further quoted a senior Iranian banking official in Tehran as saying that the BoE had suspended anything related to Iran. “Everything has been put on hold."

The UK government, eager to boost trade with new markets like Iran after last year's vote to leave the European Union, has struggled to convince British banks to boost trade with Iran, sources have told Reuters.

British trade minister Liam Fox told a parliamentary committee last week he had commissioned work from his department to look at how to normalize "effective payment channels" with Iran to try to open up trading opportunities.

In response to questions from Reuters, the British government said it was still committed to working closely with all parties, including UK banks and industry groups, to help open opportunities for trade between Britain and Iran.

"This will be a vital part of Iran's re-integration into the international community and we will continue to work to strengthen and expand our trading relationship for mutual benefit," said a statement attributed to a government spokesperson, as reported by Reuters.

کابینه یازدهم.jpg
News ID: 3936681 - Tue 21 March 2017 - 10:29
TEHRAN, Mar. 21 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani has congratulated Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the Persian New Year’s Eve.

Mr. Rouhani’s congratulatory phone call came on March 21 where he assured the Leader of the continuing Resistance Economy policies so dearly held by Ayatollah Khamenei as a remedy to the economic woes and the recession and stagnation which had hit the economy even with the implementation of the JCPOA.
In the phone call, Rouhani also suggested national unity to bring a modest level of advancement to the country, with no less valuable recommendations by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution which Rouhani had alluded to in many of its speeches. “Economic growth, more jobs, especially for the young cohort will best be informed by your guidelines as ever,” Rouhani said, to which Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei congratulated back to Rouhani the Persian News Year’s Eve and to the whole nation as well.

Okay, no dissing here alright?

While I will never sell off my currencies (they make good wall paper), I'm not hopeful any of them will ever make any significant money at this point.

I was kind of hoping we'd see a change in rial yesterday but didn't have my hopes up TOO high--so I'm not really disappointed because I wasn't really expecting much.

However, after all the articles stating it would change--and it was ANOTHER letdown--I'm more convinced than ever that Iran,Iraq,Vietnam can just go on the way they are indefinitely and forever because there doesn't seem to be any incentives enough for a change. At least not in the near future.

NOT trying to be a downer nor am I trying to convince anyone of something otherwise. Just stating my own opinion which I'm allowed to do here.

And as with everyone else.....I hope I'm wrong and we do make some significant money. Some day.

I think people have misunderstood the March 21st date meaning.

This was not an RV date this was a unification of 2 rates becoming one. This will allow Iran to move forward and therefore go international.   :twothumbs:

We're still waiting to see their announcement but thats what it is.

Folks this is not in our hands to control. We can only sit tight read watch and hope .     :goodnews: :rocking-chair:   :praying:

I personally do feel this will happen just not as we think it should.

Don't loose faith. Stay grounded. This will happen.  :backflip:  :bagofmoney:

I have always felt that the USA will negotiate with Iran.

There is TOOOOOO much money at stake for too many countries. :bagofmoney:Trump is being advised.

Tehran, March 22, IRNA – The government has successfully carried out policies of the Economy of Resistance, says Economy Minister Ali Tayyebnia.

Tayyebnia in a message to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday described the government’s achievements in its pursuit of policies of the Economy of Resistance as very significant and promising.

The Iranian minister of economic affairs and finance also praised the decision by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to name the new Iranian calendar year as the year of ‘Economy of Resistance, Production and Employment’.

The unprecedented growth of Iran’s gross domestic product, achieving a single-digit inflation rate, using the incomes generated from non-oil exports to meet the county’s import needs, maintain a positive non-oil trade balance, improving exploitation of joint hydrocarbon resources and enhancement of food security by relying on domestic agricultural products are some of the achievements made by the government based on the general framework of the Economy of Resistance, the economy minister said in his message.

Tayyebnia also said that the government and especially the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance have taken great strides to fight smuggling of goods and promote economic transparency in the country.

Significant measures have been taken to address customs, tax and money laundering-related issues, though we need to strive for the ideal conditions.

Tayyebnia expressed hope that in the year of ‘Economy of Resistance, Production and Employment’ the Islamic Iran would witness a real change in its production and employment conditions.
