Deputy Goforth's Son

I am touched by the very bitter, and not so sweet, occasion for Deputy Goforth's son to wear his special t shirt for the first, and last time, with his Dad. While I have no doubt there will be several officers offering to to help, taking on the role of surrogate dad, they will never replace Darren Goforth.

No matter how many fishing trips, camp outs, or sledding days he is invited to, he will never have the pleasure of the most coveted of acts. A simple mundane trip to the for groceries with dad, for the one on one conversations that start innocently enough, but suddenly get deeply philosophical, and then becomes a lifetime memory as an epiphany moment.  No more one on one catch, wrestling matches that are nothing more than thinly disguised hugging and bonding, but growling and tossing each other away so mom thinks he's "tough".

No matter how many BBQ's he goes to, he will never learn his dad's "secret recipe" sauce.

More importantly, after a trip with another family, after watching the interaction from dad to son, he'll get home, more alone than ever..

There will be times that without thinking, he'll wake up and run into the master bedroom, expecting to wake up dad for their Saturday only to be hit between the eyes with reality. Other times, late at night, he'll go to the empty bedroom, calling for his dad, straining to hear his voice, believing with all his will if he just listens hard enough, he will hear his voice. Anxiously waiting for the reply, until the dark silence suddenly closes in like a bear trap, forcing him to run out in fear and loneliness.

Never understood what was missed until my own sons, only knew the anger, rage, and pain of growing up alone.

Lots of you reading this know exactly what I am talking about, because you did as well.

He is fortunate, because there are no doubt several other officers that will volunteer to help out, not out of a sense of duty, but honored to be there. Him and his mom will be OK financially, so he wont have the severe and immediate impact of loss of income.

So many others are immediately condemned to not only a life of solitude, but also an intense loss of stature that is enough to break their soul.

Please pray for him, and for every other youngster that losses a  parent far too soon, or never gets to even meet both their parents. Whether that's their dad, senselessly murdered by a brain dead zombie, fanatically following poisonous racist rhetoric, heaved out in a medley of disgustingly divisive vitriol by none other than our nation's "leader", or birth complications the mom doesn't survive, to the tens of thousands of orphaned children whose parents have been murdered for their Christian faith by the devil's own fanatic Muslim's, they are all the same, every single one is an innocent human child, their only desire is to love, and be loved. They have no political agenda, no hidden motive. Their minds and hearts are soft clay, molded by their life's events, into the adults they become.

Pray that every kid going through that is given invites to join in on events, that they don't isolate, don't dwell on the loss, but are inspired to heal, and learns how to use the experience as "rocket fuel" for their soul.

I'm sure they got the t shirts at the son's request. I can imagine the son's excitement, immediately planning all those times him and Dad were going to look the same. He was obviously very proud of Dad, they obviously had a very close relationship, and he wanted the whole world to know. Every time they wore "their" shirts, that big guy with him was HIS dad. It would give him a chance to be just like dad, because someday, he really was going to be just like him.

Below is a picture of deputy Goforth's son, wearing for the first, and last time, his special shirt with his Dad.

Just for the record, it's Ryan.

Ryan Goforth.

In the picture, Ryan Goforth is wearing the same t shirt as his dad, Darren Goforth, for the first, and last time, unless of coarse, Ryan wears it when visiting his dad's grave, which is the only place on earth he will ever be able to go to have a chat with dad.

Deputy Goforth’s son was seen wearing a Captain America shirt – a very special shirt.

Just days before he was killed, Deputy Goforth and his son bought matching Captain America t-shirts with plans to wear them together. Obviously, they never got that chance.

That boy is wearing the shirt he was only going to wear with his father, but a scumbag took that away from him. He’s being strong for his mother and now has a nation of people who will do anything to support him.
