The commodore of the Navy's Strategic Communications Wing 1, based at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, was fired Tuesday after a loss of confidence in her ability to lead. Capt. Heather Cole had "not performed up to the high standards demanded of an officer in command," Naval Air Forces said in a press release.

 

Vice Adm. Mike Shoemaker, the AIRFOR boss, relieved Cole of command of the wing and Task Force 124, an operational command post that reports to U.S. Strategic Command.

 

The relief stemmed from an investigation Shoemaker launched in February based on revelations of significant issues within the wing, said Cmdr. Jeannie Groeneveld, AIRFOR spokeswoman.

 

Cole's shortcomings were professional in nature, she said, and unfolded over time, adding that she could not comment further as the investigation has not been completed.

 

"The relief was due to deficiencies in her performance that were identified in the findings of the investigation," Groeneveld said. The deficiencies had nothing to do with TF-124's Strategic Nuclear Forces mission, she said, but instead were "cultural issues" within the wing itself.

 

Cole has been temporarily assigned to the San Diego-based staff of AIRFOR pending the outcome of the investigation.

 

Cole did not respond to calls and emails seeking comment by Thursday.

 

Capt. Brian McCormick, who has served as the task force's deputy commander, has been named the acting wing commander.

 

The post answers to two masters. Strategic Communications Wing 1 reports to AIRFOR on the manning and training of the E-6B Mercury squadrons that fly the airborne command post.

 

The wing's operational side, Task Force 124, is part of the nuclear command and control echelon and reports to U.S. Strategic Command on missions like Airborne Command Post, the Airborne Launch Control System, the Non-Strategic Nuclear Forces Theater Commanders and the "Take Charge and Move Out" (TACAMO) Emergency Action Message relay.

 

A native of Ferris, Texas, Cole is a graduate of the University of Texas and received her commission through Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, in 1990. She received her wings in 1991, according to her official bio.

 

Cole, a naval flight officer, served first in P-3 aircraft at various assignments until she transitioned to the TACAMO community in 1993.

 

She also served as the aviation initial assignment detailer, first in Washington, D.C., and then making the move to Millington, Tennessee, in 1999 when Navy Personnel Command relocated there. The SVR in their report on Captain Cole’s refusal to start World War III further states that her actions mirrors those of Soviet Naval Captain Vasili Arkhipov, who during the Cuban Missile Crisis, in 1962, also refused to obey orders to launch nuclear weapons against the United States.
 
Upon Captain Cole being arrested, a MoD appendix to this SVR report says, President Putin ordered the Federationsstrategic nuclear bomber forces to their “fail-safe” locations in the Arctic (the fastest air route to the US from Russia), anexpansion of the Northern Fleet’s combat operations into the Norwegian Sea, and continued combat air operations against NATO forces on the northern border.

The folks in San Diego will be shocked to read that, as Miramar has been a Marine Corps installation for more than a decade.

The headline used over the crazed item reads: TOP U.S. COMMANDER UNDER ARREST FOR REFUSING TO FIRE NUKES. Since when is a Navy 0-6 a "top U.S. commander?"

To show their complete lack of credibility, on their home page, the DISINFO specialists write "in the span of less than three months, gasoline prices will rise 500%." Yeah, right. See you all at the gas pump in 90 days.

The MCJ states that an officer on duty must be relieved of duty before any judicial proceedings can be charged against any officer in a command position... First Cap. Cole had to be relieved of duty then she could've been arrested. The US coast Guard has their prison in the same prison as the Marines and no one seems to be surprise...If it was not Zero involved I'd have to be on Dawgs thought pattern...Kinda like Sandy Hook...who can make any sence of WTF that was all about....

Again, a basic principle to defeat a hugh military force is simple to state, but complicated to initiate:  DIVIDE and conquer. We are watching the division of the population, the military, and administration.  The more this happens the less problem it will be to take control with little resistance.

As long as we have competing political parties that destroy their competition, reject as asinine any suggestion or relevant move the other party makes, we will remain in the land of disharmony and stagnation.  Don't get me wrong.  We need competent, logical, and dedicate contrarians in order to "get the facts straight," push for the truth of a thing, and then the strength of character to cull false ideas and make good decisions base upon Character, Constitutional authority and mandates, Consider the welfare of the populous, and a Conscious willing to do what is RIGHT above all else.  Party affiliation and loyalty must be relegated to a place subservient to the welfare of the country and the will of the people.  Decision  based on party affiliation, cronyism, contributions given to propagate an agenda, and other like "hand-outs" for supporting a position need to be challenged and NOT taken into consideration.

 

When that starts happening, then we might be suppressed at the number of real leaders with character rise to the top.  Who are they?  Don't know.  I haven't seen one yet.

Seriously? Sara Palin? She would make a good governor of Alaska.  Unless she does something more politically significant in foreign and domestic policy she will not get far.  If I had a choice between Palin and Clinton I think I would need to toss a coin.  Then which every won . . . Politics is not my "cup of tea."  I have seen too many choice selections from the political ranks, with promise and character, fall prey to the pressure of their party and wind up so blended into the existing concoction that you can't find them anymore.  

We need a healthy, virile, hard-skinned, leader who will not compromise principle or character.  I'm still looking.  The only one I see as potential is Donald Trump, but he also has the breath of a shark.  Still, maybe that's what's needed in the present political atmosphere.

Problem is Miramar is a Naval installation even if it is run by the Marines. The Marines are under the command of the Naval Secretary and are part of Naval forces in the USA even if they are considered by many  a separate branch. I know many Marines will disagree because that is pride talking but they take their orders from the Secretary of the Navy not the Secretary of the Marines. Marines, Navy Army or Air Force we are all in this together even if the CiC isn't.
