Good morning DV!
 
It's a beautiful Wednesday morning with SPRING finally right around 
the corner! The sun has been out more in March than the last 4 months, 
and that makes me a happy camper! I hope you all had a fantastic St. 
Patricks Day, complete with green beer or at least a shot of Baileys.
 
(I sure did! :D )

 

 
Let's talk about dinar. 
 
I'm just going to be blunt here - this last week was a bit slow. We've seen 
continued evidence that Abadi is "the man" we want at the helm, as he 
continues to do great things to advance Iraq in every aspect possible.
 
Parliament has been working diligently, accomplishing more in a week than 
they used to in 2 months! 
 
It appears that the Oil & Gas issue is paused at the moment - they still have
the same 9 issues to work on that I mentioned last week. I'm going to cut 
them some slack and give the benefit of the doubt at this time, since they 
are actually working and not just screwing off like they would have done 
this same time last year under Maliki.
 
There's a few ways to look at this... the most logical, in my opinion, is 
pretty simple - the CBI probably informed Parliament that they were not 
ready yet, so hold off on the HCL.
 
So, what might be holding the CBI back? Again IMO, not much! The CBI is 
excellent at what they do, so perhaps it's a simple matter of aligning all of 
the banks that participate in the auctions. Maybe it's a last minute tweak on 
the Post-RV spreadsheets that they will be using.
 
If that's what is happening, I believe that's great for us. It means we are a
few words away from seeing this all come together.

(Hopefully with money in tow). You had made a comment before in January that you would be surprised if this went on for another 3 or 4 months. At that time it was a good assessment and we have seen that Iraq is moving forward; but it is hard to tell if they are ready to complete the puzzle. I know the Chrystal ball is just for show and tell, but I truly value your Gut Instinct with the facts you have. Do you perceive that there is another 3 to 4 month window to go, or sooner? Well, we're nearing the 3 month mark and heading towards 4, and my opinion is the same. 

Right now we've seen the HCL make incredible progress and it's poised to continue at a 

moment's notice.

 Candy01 Adam,  Have you heard anything from your contacts in Iraq regarding the HCL?  I have read some articles saying that the Kurds and Baghdad have agreed to most of the points of the HCL law.  Is this what you are hearing?

Hi Candy! Yes, you are correct - the majority is done and we are looking for it to be 

100% complete any time now.

RPMAC Hey Adam, I always look forward to your Wednesday Chats; thank you for your consistency and updates . My first question is, When is Ramadan? For the vets that have followed this trail over the years, we know once Ramadan takes place everything slows down, and normally we look to the next year in hopes of an RV/RI. You have commented over the years how things slow down during Ramadan. Oh course in the past  Al-Maliki was the PM during the Iraqi Holiday. Your opinion, with Al-Abadi in place, do you think progress will continued forward once Ramadan arrives, or will we have the normal slow down taking affect and our wait continues into 2016? Hopefully once Ramadan arrives, the RV/RI will have occurred, and we will not be having this discussion, but since that time has not arrived, just seeking your opinion.

Hello RPMAC! Ramadan is June 17 to July 17 this year. I don't think we'll make it that far 

without seeing something major.

 

Will Ramadan be any different for Parliament under Abadi as opposed to Maliki? I would 

certainly think so, but "how much" different remains to be seen.

soonerdoc 2 questions.  With Iran taking a huge role and literally taking out ISIS, it appears that they are and will be influencing Iraq and have huge interests in its well being.  What is your take on this, since they are one of our biggest enemies?  I almost wonder if this could be a bad thing but not certain.  Secondly, I still do not see how Iraq can ever RV at any rate that most of us would like to see due to approximately 30-40 trillion dollars in circulation.  That is an almost astronomical number and it has been proven that the most human brains can not comprehend just how much that really is?  I hate that and wish they really were taking money out of circulation with these auctions but no one really seems to know the true story there.

Iran: Is and will probably always be an enemy to the US. If they are doing some good in Iraq, 

then that's a good thing. It has no bearing on how the value of the dinar will benefit us.

 

The rate: I don't know what rate you are referring to, but if it's over 1:1 I simply don't think that 

will happen regardless of how much is or isn't in circulation. But to address the "amount in 

circulation" issue, that is controled by the CBI and when they want to pull money out of 

circulation, they will. When they want to RV, they will. 

 

You know... so many things over there defy logic, yet people still try to apply logic to them. It 

kind of cracks me up. :lol:

 

 Barreled1 Adam, theoretically speaking, what do you feel would happen to the value of the IQD if it were to de-peg from the USD? Obviously, the Swiss Franc de-pegged from the Euro and it looks like China and Russia are both moving in the direction of de-pegging from the USD eventually. Or, is this never going to happen anyway? Thanks for everything!

 

 

Good morning Barreled1! I don't think it matters at all if they decide to depeg. The value 

is what it is regardless of how they choose to measure it.

If we don't see an increase of the exchange rate by the end of this month. I believe we are looking to 2016.!

Private sector needs to grow

Diversification of the economy

New laws needs to be approved

I would love to see an increase of the exchange rate tomorrow, but the reality is different.!
