Morning everyone!

A couple PSAs/apologies first. I know the chat room has been down for a
couple days, and the VIP renewal system is acting up.

Chat room - I'm working on it, and it should be resolved by the end of the
day.

VIP system - please believe me when I say I don't want to add extra work
for my staff, so the issue is being worked on as quickly as possible! For the
time being, you can use this link to renew or add VIP: http://iqd.me/l/order

And if you're looking for your current expiration date, I'm happy to look it
up for you. Just email VIP@dinarvets.com

Now with THAT stuff out of the way, let's talk about the latest!

Hopefully you caught my "drive by" this last weekend, because I addressed
the recent news regarding the 50 dinar notes being squashed by the CBI.

For most of us, this isn't a big deal when it's related to our actual physical
holdings. The majority of my cash Dinar is in 1-25k notes.

But it IS a big deal when you apply this situation to what we expect to
happen when the CBI pulls the BIG trigger. Hopefully you've read the free
Cash In Guide by now! But if you haven't, here's a short explanation.

When a country changes value or actual notes, they can choose to let the
old notes run at the same time as the new notes, or they can implement a
"cash in" time. This is completely arbitrary - they can say 10 days, 10 weeks,
10 years, or whatever they want.

In this situation, the CBI appears to be doing a "trial run" on the cash-in time.

I always thought they would give us a minimum of 90 days, but with the 50
notes, they basically did a ~45 day cash in timeframe. Get your 50's turned in
within that timeframe, or they are worthless.

45 days?!?! YEP! 45 days!

My thoughts on this are pretty straight forward.

1. No need to panic. A 50 dinar note is worth a nickel right now, so this is a
perfect way for the CBI to do such a "practice run". If you're heavily invested
in Iraqi nickels, my condolences to you... if that was my situation, I'd be looking
for a dealer that will trade them, or I'd keep them as souvenirs.

2. I STRONGLY doubt that they plan on doing the same thing with the larger
notes, but even IF they do, I understand that we are going to have a lot more
options for exchanging. The game changes drastically when you switch from
nickels to hundreds!

Again... no reason to freak out.

3. Here's the real silver lining. :) Since this was announced, have you seen any
kind of pandemonium or an irregular blast of news about the ISX dropping or
pillaging and plundering because of a Great Depression coming to Iraq?
No, you haven't. And that's because axing the 50s isn't a major negative... in
fact, it has more upside than most people realize.

:twothumbs:

On that note, I'll wrap up my Wednesday update by mentioning that I am VERY
anxious to get some HCL news. There is a lot going on right now, and hopefully
that can all play out in the next week or 2, then we can have some HCL news.

Did I mention I want some HCL news? Because that's what I want! If one of you
members would be so kind as to kick the HCL into overdrive, I'll be forever
grateful!

Here's the weekly Q&A :)

=========== Weekly Q&A ==================

robbby  Hi Adam.  What do we do with our 50 dinar notes? Turn them into wallpaper or tissue paper? What's your take on this?
Thanks for helping us muddle through this....see you in Belize SOON!!!!

I kind of like origami - have you ever tried that?

skrappyone Hi Adam.   I asked these to questions during your drive-by but I guess you didn't see them.  First question is:  What do you think they were talking about when they said "to not confuse the 50 note with the 500 note with the deletion of the 0's?  Second question:  By coming out at one of the rates you proposed, .01 to .30 and float, how could they de-dollarize without at leaqst something close to the dollar and wouldn't the BIG investors jump all over it like a hound dog on a pork chop, costing Iraq more money?  Just trying to think a little bit.  Thanks in advance.

Hey Skrappy. I did see your post, but I don't know when "they" said "that". I'll need a link to reply, just to be sure I'm not responding to a mis-interpretation of what "they" said.

Second question - I'm not sure I get where you are coming from, but I"ll take a stab at it. You are assuming they need to
de-dollarize. I don't know if that's necessary, so that throws the whole question into limbo. On thing I am confident in is the fact that the dollar is less reliable than ever, so there's a possibility that hedging against it could reap some major gains in the right situation.

Hope that helps!

Hellifiknow Hello adam  Maybe this is a naive question maybe not even worthy of responce at this point but i am curious about one thing. If and when the dinar i have become internationly traded......"simple as going into the bank and exchanging...." why or how would there be a time limit on exchanging them? 45-60 days?? If the dinar i have are "real",new, with all the "security" updates and could be exchanged in most any bank in america......whos to tell me i must exchange .....now! ??? Thanks for answering my question!!

Everything depends on the CBI. It's really that simple. :twothumbs:

=============== continued! =====================

Off-the-grid I understood the announcement about turning in their 50s said nothing about receiving replacement (new) 50's, just bills worth the equivalent - as in five 50's gets you a 250,etc. or even just that value in your bank account.  So, my understanding is that the 50's are being removed from circulation right now since they are old, easily counterfeited, and not currently worth squat.  This still looks like a good pre-RV move by the CBI to me.  In fact, I would like to see everything up to 1000 removed.  My thinking is the RV will go smoother if the lines to exchange old IQD for new won't be clogged by folks with wheelbarrows of puny bills they've been keeping in their mattresses - plus the easily counterfeited issue.  Are you hearing that the banks are actually REPLACING the old 50s with new 50s?

Peace and Prosperity

I have not. :twothumbs:

idplzr  There is a big difference from .01 to .30... Of course I hope we are closer to .30... .01 is still a good profit percentage for what was invested but would still feel like a kick in the teeth after all this time.
Adam do you still think .10 is the mark? Or close to it? Thought appreciated, thx

Yes sir.

captl1  Hello Adam .. We all know how deceiving Iraq can be with everything from financials to mummies.  In Your Honest Opinion do you feel that anything less than a dollar would stop the people from using the dinar and cause a major run on the US dollar. It just seems to me that there a so many resources to justify at least a dollar. Thanks for all you do and of course thanks to all the mods.

You stated that there are so many resources to justify at least a dollar - I agree, but the reason I propose it will be lower is because they can come out at a dime and then profit on the way up to a dollar via the spread on the exchanges. The CBI makes a profit on every exchange, regardless of which way the dinar goes.

waitingondinar ...
Once currency is international, won't most banks exchange it? Thanks

Once the currency is international, you are correct, most major banks will be exchanging it.

King Bean  Adam: Is there a scenario, in your opinion, where Iraq would NOT honor any dinar outside of their country?

Yes, but it's more complicated than that. Iraq doesn't actually do business "outside" of their country. Every exchange happens at the head desk of the CBI.

If they want to move up in the world, they will raise their exchange rate and start doing business with the major world banks.

countryroads  Adam, I am more concerned about WHERE I will exchange my Dinars then all this denomination talk. Here in the western part of Ohio no one (banks) are saying they will exchange them. And finding one with a D' Larue machine has also proved fruitless. Can you give any help as to where to look? 5/3 and The Huntington are the only two major banks in this area.

Thanks in advance.
Countryroads

I have a comprehensive list that includes almost every delarue machine in the country. I'll be sending updates to the VIP members as they get moved about after the RV.

If you're not in the VIP group, your best option will be to simply call around and ask for the latest options.

Candy01 ...........do they HAVE to arrest Maliki in order for the RV to happen?

THANKS MUCH!!

Of course not! If you read that somewhere, I would ask that you immediately block that particular site from your internet.

Freedomwish  Just wondering if there's any new scoop on how that good ol' HCA turning into the HCL is coming along........yep.....just wondering....

Wish I could tell you my friend! I want my HCL!

robert c  Adam  now that the budget has been passed. Can you tell us how Iraq is paying their debt. Is it in usd or dinars?
Thanks for al you do to help us understand what is going on in Iraq and dinar land.

That's an insightful question robert! The answer is a little tricky, because you have to understand that both the USD and the IQD really have no actual "value" - they are both fiat currencies. This means we're talking about imaginary numbers... so, what currency is Iraq paying their debt in? It doesn't matter, because the end result is the same.

new york kevin  Adam: What the heck is going on with the ad's coming up in the middle of a thread. They are a nusance to put it mildly. Highly offensive because alot of them have soft porn or barely covered up ta ta's. They gotta go. I like this site for the IQD info not so I can lust after some near naked female that is not my wife. I hope things aren't so financially rough for you that DV's has to resort to porn to pay the bills. Did you all get hacked that these ad's come up and stopping them is beyond your control? If canceling them is under your control at least let members permanently opt out of getting them in 1 easy step. I can just go to NINA or Iraqi news, etc on my own if something can't be done to accomodate those of us who feel like this. Just keeping the VIP membership going and awaiting your phone call may have to be the last choice for me. I apologise if this comes off to harsh, I am just being honest with ya. Take care. NYK.

NYK, I can always count on you to give it to me straight!

Thanks for the feedback. If you're logged in as a VIP member, the ads don't show.

And if someone isn't serious enough about this dinar thing to get a VIP membership here, they will have to look at the girls in bikinis or whatever it is that you see... I'm just not concerned about how their free access to this site is affected by the ads. "Not my problem", as grandma used to say.

Jaygo  What is your thoughts on the Delete the zeros article that came out today and are we really going to get Ray Rice?????

Not concerned about either one!

BJinMontreal  Hey Adam - if Iraq is going to rv, ri or whatever ... AND ... the CBI is going to take the 50 dinar notes out of the equation during the two month period of March 1 to April 30 - why should we expect anything to happen before those said 50 dinar notes are out of circulation?
Surely they wouldn't change the value of their currency while they were removing them from circulation. Talk about a logistical, if not a judicial nightmare!!!
Your opinions are always appreciated - and thanks for supplying the playground and learning centre for us to play and learn within.

You are welcome for the playground - I'm happy to provide what I can when I can for those who can benefit! :twothumbs:

Don't let them fool you. They will move the rate whenever they think it is best for them, and the best time could certainly be when everyone thinks it would be hardest... like right now, in the middle of a 50-note test.

securityguy  Adam; New youk kevin made a point about the ads. I concure, they are offensive.

dodah Same here

This is getting to be a tiresome subject... if the ads bother you, simply sign into VIP or find another site. I don't mean to be rude, but this is still my site and there are bills to pay.

Some of the members that complain have been here for years, at the expense of others, and still complain. Seriously, people... put something on the counter other than your elbows. If you don't like the ads, just pony up. I'm not feeling your pain.

(Actually I've enjoyed some of the ads... I recently learned about a cat that can read minds, thanks to these new horrible ads!)

dogsutra  do i have to be a platinum VIP to join osi reserve?

Absolutely not - as long as you're a VIP member, just email corpoffshore@gmail.com and Julie will get you your options.

FYI, as a closing note, OSI is DEFINITELY your best option!

I'll see you there!

:tiphat:

Probably get in trouble for noticing this like everything else ,

but strange how no mention of the zeros articles.

From which year?

      Happy Wednesday, dinarvets!

I'm in the middle of a blizzard (ok, it's just snowing a little) and I've got a bajillion fires to put out here at home, so this one will be quick!

The good news is that I see lots of good reasons to come back with more updates before next Wednesday. In fact, I made a detour to buy a lottery ticket this morning - that's how good I feel about the near future! (Get in the lotto pool here.)

It looks like the protest situation is coming to a head, all while budgetary and other government issues are also moving forward.

The US is putting pressure on Iraq to do something about the protests, which really means the US is putting pressure on Iraq to get their butts in gear. This article I posted states that the Iraqis are grumbling about "US interference", but the fact of the matter is this: if the US is putting pressure on them, they are going to do something. And they are going to do something that moves Iraq in the direction we want, and it's not going to drag out forever. Personally, I see that as a positive sign and I'm looking forward to the next week.

Here's some evidence of what I'm hearing that has me feeling positive... despite the blustering about not wanting US interference, the news says they are doing exactly what we want. Take a look at this and the 12 posts that immediately follow it:

We are looking at a positive situation, friends. I'll be back with more as it develops - hopefully even before the weekend, if the rumors I'm hearing are correct. This can all come to a head very quickly.

      Good morning and Happy Wednesday!

Iraq isn't in the best possible spot this week... we are nearing a month of protests. Mahdi has promised to resign once a successor is named. They are working on a new election law that will likely eliminate a handful of positions in the GOI, and thereby reduce a bit of the corruption.

Bad news - nothing is happening immediately. It appears that things are settling, but realistically this is going to take a couple more weeks.

On the positive side, the exchange rate is stable in spite of the confusion. I can't imagine a more solid argument for Iraq's future than that! WTI oil pricing is stable.

The work that was being done hasn't backtracked - it's just paused.

Progress made has not been lost - just paused.

On a related note, I've seen a couple of the "rumors" floating around about the dinar being released with "par value" (that means nothing to us), or Chapter 7 being reimplemented, and a few other things like that. I say it's related because when Iraqi news is slow, or negative, the "gurus" always seem to come up with some nonsense like this. That's what it is - nonsense. Just read it, give your favorite newshound or rumor sharing member a "❤️ " for sharing, and take a deep breath - the situation will work itself out, and we'll be back on track shortly.

Crypto. BTC settles in over the $9000 mark after a nice boost up... remember a few updates ago when I told you I was going to trade some precious metals for crypto and grab a short term gain? China's news a couple weeks ago certainly happened at a good time! China continues to back off on their former ban on crypto, basically stating they are going to support blockchain... if not necessarily supporting bitcoin itself. Either way, this is really good for the crypto world in general. More blockchain projects and support means more adoption, which means more demand, and BTC stands to gain from that both short and long term.

Recommendation for the day: Follow the Crypto section in VIP! You can choose more or less notifications, based on your preferences. Personally - I get an email anytime a new thread is posted, and of course a notification when a post is made in a thread I follow. If you don't know, you can't win.

Just for fun: Courtesy of the brew, check out this amazing footage:

That's it for now! It's unfortunate that we're seeing a delay in Iraq, more so for them than for us, but keep your head up and stay positive. This train is still heading the right direction.

      Good afternoon, DinarVets!

Just a short note from me today.

There are positive signs everywhere, but the protests and "civil unrest" that's going on right now has tossed an anchor out on the final progress we'd like to see.

It's not something that will last forever. The face of Iraq, Iraq's current exchange rate, OIL news, and more... all mostly unchanged by the current situation. The country is NOT in a downward spiral... but they are in the middle of an annoyingly long "pause".

Not much more to say at the moment!

      We wait.

Some of us patiently... others, no so patiently.

Keep your heads up and kee on smiling! This shall pass, and then 💥 (in a good way. Not 💥 in a bad way. Perhaps that's the wrong emoji for this situation.  )

      - Adam

P.S. How about that resignation we've been hearing about?! Sounds a little like the so-called impeachment process we have here at home in the US of A

Thread open for comments and questions.

      Good afternoon all!

      No weekly update this week.

Our path to an RV of the Iraqi dinar is pretty clear, so I stay on top of the news and my messages from my people, but I had a major project come to a conclusion over the last week and it kept me away from the computer. I won't say it broke my heart to stay away from the computer for a few days longer than I usually do

      Normal updates resume next week.

    • By Adam Montana
      Good morning Dinarvets!

I didn't title this thread "weekly" because it's probably not going to be the "official weekly" update... this is more of a "drive by".

I mentioned recently that I have a favorite daily newsletter - it's called "the brew" (you can get it free at that link), and this morning they nailed a lot of topics that were already on my mind. I figured it would be worth making an appearance for these topics, so here we go!

Amongst the topics... Trump/Syria/Turkey/Kurds: This one is a little complicated, so let's break it down. It was announced last week that we are withdrawing US troops from Syria, which led to talk of Turkey ramping up attacks on the Kurds, finger pointing at Trump because he's bailing on the Kurds when we are supposed to be babysitting them, Trump responds by saying if Turkey steps out of line we will hit them in the wallet, and here on DinarVets we're all like "wait what about the Iraqi Dinar?!"

      WHEW! That was a mouthful

First, I'll quote The Brew - they said it well enough:

Next, let's identify "the Kurds" - I'll quote a part of this WaPo article that gives a good explanation:

So, this current news cycle we are reading and hearing about involving "the Kurds" isn't specifically about Iraqi Kurds, but the events unfolding right now are going to do one very significant thing with regards to Iraq... a message is being sent.

I'm not saying I approve or disapprove of the tactics, or the decision to withdraw troops, or the decision to put them there in the first place. But what's happening right now is irrefutable evidence that the US of A has a huge influence in the Middle East, the affairs of the Middle East, and therefore... the Iraqi economy, which includes the trade value of the Dinar.

What this sets up in the near future is the confidence and assurance that with the US on their side, Iraq can make changes, improvements, and progress.

What happened to Turkey in the past, and may happen very soon again, can happen to Iraq.

The same is true of the inverse... where we can inflict severe harm, we can also support massive gain. (GO RV!)

      ================

Politics... Elizabeth Warren has been running ads accusing Facebook CEO Zuckerberg of supporting Trump in the last election, and her ads specifically state that the accusation may not be true.

Read that again if you need to

      ================

Speaking of Facebook, their cryptocurrency Libra lost a ton of backers... PayPal among them, followed by Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, eBay, and Mercado Pago. Tim Apple also stated a "hard no" on an Apple Crypto, which opens up a lot of room for discussion on the future of BTC. My take is that BTC lost a serious potential competitor with Apple pulling out of the game for the moment. Tim's reasoning for not wanting to get involved in crypto actually supports the argument that crypto is destined for success - feel free to chime in on that one! I have a feeling that the recent release of the Apple credit card has more to do with their current stance on "AppleCoin" than anything else.

Either way, BTC seems to have stopped pulling back on price and is poised to move up again. I'm keeping a watch on it.

      ===============

That bit about crypto wasn't in the brew's email this morning, but they did mention bank profits... or rather, the decline in bank profits. Quoting again:

I'll add a bit to that... banks aren't going to lose money when there is the option of negative interest. Negative interest is when the banks charge you to keep money in the bank, and what kind of impact do you think THAT will have on Crypto?

      To the moon, baby! 🚀
      #HODL

      ===================

That's enough for the Monday morning drive by... Happy Columbus day!

      (  Sorry, couldn't help myself!)

      - Adam
