But Baghdad paid a fraction of the amount agreed upon for the Kurdish authorities, saying the oil exported quantity was not expected to be produced and exported.

 

Abdul-Mahdi said in a press conference that the agreement with the Kurdish government remains.

 

He continued saying that everyone achieves significant gains from the agreement and that thanks to the use of pipe lines Kurdistan region has become possible to resume the export of oil from the Kirkuk oilfields, which was threatened by the deteriorating situation due to stop production.

 

Under the agreement the Kurdish regional government agreed to export 550 thousand barrels of oil per day through Turkey from the Kirkuk fields, and that is done through marketing governmental body affiliated to Baghdad.

The minister pointed out that the decline in oil prices led to reduced payments of foreign oil companies that had accumulated since 2013 to the tune of more than $ 20 billion.
